HoylandOwl Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 I've just had a message to the site inbox informing us that we've recently lost a good friend of the site and a poster for a number of years, Bricat. He did tell me he was battling illness for some time, and was in and out of hospital. Bri used to send us articles for the site and was one of the stalwarts for some time, he'll certainly be missed. RIP Bri. Fly high mate. WAWAW. EDIT... Just had the following message... If anyone is interested his cremation service will be at City Road Crematorium at 15:15 on Tuesday 30th April. Drinks afterwards in The Harlequin on Nursery St. 7 Quote
Andyben Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Rest in Peace Bri You will be sorely missed. 1 Quote
Supercockle Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Sad news. What a great member of the community he’s been over the years. He will be greatly missed. RIP Bri. WAWAW. Quote
Beaconowl Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 RIP Bri, you will be missed. I was only thinking at the weekend that he hadn’t posted for a while. Quote
holmesfield_owl Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 What really sad news, been on here as long as I have I think (and that's many years), very bad news. Fly high Bricat, will be sorely missed and condolences to his family and friends. Quote
Hirstys 12th Pint Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Sad sad news. I was only thinking of Bricat the other day as I went past The Shakespeare pub in town. I was in there probably 3 or 4 years ago and recognised him from his ID pic on here and went and asked if he was Bricat. We had an hour and a couple of pints together - and then come to think of it half a 12 percenter he recommended ! Lovely fella and knew he had been struggling with his health. Getting old is crap isn't it. Quote
Otto_Man Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Fly high bricat, you will be sorely missed. Any chance of the 'Martin Hague and {bricat}' suite? 3 Quote
Owling_Wolf Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 RIP Bri. Sad news. I never met him. Don't even know what he looked like, sadly. There can't be many on here that played for the Wednesday. Quote
mkowl Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Very sad to hear this. As others have noted he was around a long time on here, always had a decent opinion but generally respected yours. I am not sure if we were once introduced at an OO meet up - but can't say for sure Quote

Owling_Wolf Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Just now, mkowl said: I must have missed that, when did he play for Wednesday out of interest Unless I'm mixing him up he was a non-first team keeper in the mid-1960s I believe. I'm sure Andy will put me right if I am incorrect. (Tommy Craig the previous poster: not the actor.) Quote
owl4ever1867 Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Fly high fellow Owl. My thoughts are with his family & friends. R.I.P 1 Quote

The Haigh and Wright Suite All Wednesday, and football. Come and chat all things about the beautiful game in here. Named in honour of our former posters, ColinDobsonsLeftFoot (Martin Haigh) and Bricat (Brian Wright). (This is brilliant, Tee.) 5 Quote

Fat Eric Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Shame as we never did get the PPV fight on between him and Professor Plum on, I'd have backed Bri. RIP Bricat, one of the sensible posters. 2 Quote
Friend of Bricat Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 (edited) Writing as Brian's best friend (in his last decade) thank you all for your thoughts and lovely comments. Such a shame he didn't live to witness this afternoon's result and the team's survival - he would have been very happy. I like to think that (in part at least) they did it for him. I'm not really a football fan so you won't hear from me again - but good luck for next season, Service Booklet Final 1904.pdf Edited May 4, 2024 by Friend of Bricat 8 Quote

Fat Eric Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Not that I believe in the afterlife, but it's nice to think of Bricat sat with a little pint of his favourite tipple with a cigar on the go and a nice, happy little smile on his face. To all the Owls no longer with us, cheers! 5 1 Quote
