  1. I understand why the fan organizations protested against the first voting in December 2023. It wasn´t transparent , had an unpleasant aftertaste regarding esp. Martin Kind (majority shareholder of Hannover 96) , and of course an investor and possible influence is a difficult situation. So, all in all, this time football succeeded. Just in general : the soul of football can be lost ( money reigns the world, ), and I´m glad we can still experience football over here as a bit more competitive. Everyone (other than Bayerrn Munich fans) is glad there might be another Bundesliga champion possible than the wealthy Bayern Munich. Everyone wants the "underdog" to win in an impossible fight against Goliath. I personally don´t like what the Pl has become (albeit its success in Europe). Don´t get me wrong , I don´t envy the success but : are fans really that happy what has become of fandom in the big clubs?
  2. well, he liked the opera as well.....so the most beautiful aria from Tosca ( I saw this one in the small yet beautiful opera in Valletta )
  3. Amazing to hear from him. Great news!!
  4. it is raining today here in Germany , so I am thinking of some sunnier places . like...how about cape verde? Some music from sunny islands :
  5. thanks for the update. Good to hear.
  6. Very sad news. I feel for his family and friends. I didn´t know him personally. But in the days when he was on the radio hosting a show, he actually played the song I was asking. That was a nice gesture. And when I was trying to help my daughter to find an internship in England, he offered one in the radio station and even offered accomodation at his place, which was a huge gesture. For a stranger, no less. I will remember him for the generous character he was. RIP .
  7. Hmmm....if he had been born in the sixties or seventies , yes, maybe...maybe then his Russian might be better than his English. But he was born in the year the Berlin wall came down. So, no, that´s not an excuse... 😉
  8. I must admit , I had my doubts after reading that Flick´s assistant would become wednesday´s manager. Our national team was and is horribly playing these last years and I couldn´t imagine Röhl being a wise decision . I can´t comment about the owls´playing as I can only watch the snippets shown here on the forum (so, thanks for those) . So, my understanding is, that there is a progress in fitness and tactics and well, the psychology ( although it is a common fact, that new people around mostly boost the spirit ). All in all Röhl might have been a good decision after all. Good for him. And the owls. And seeing some sort of success after stepping out of being number two and stepping into the spotlight of being number one , is awesome. I sincerely hope, we can stay in the championship , let´s keep our fingers crossed. Oh.....just a small remark on Röhl´s accent though. Even as a German myself, it´s quite unfriendly to my ears hearing him in interviews .....haha. but this is just a side note. 😉
  9. I just read this thread. Best wishes to him and hopefully he can return home soon.
  10. I have seen quite a lot kdramas lately....gosh, those men are handsome ( and the women too)...and one can actor can even sing !
  11. Right, ..after the owls´and Schalke´s win last weekend ....this comes to my mind
  12. thanks, Mr. T !!! Do you still wear that cardigan ? *lol*
  13. Just saw the highlights . Good performance . What is Musaba´s time on the 100 metres , I wonder. That man can run along the left side of the pitch! Ah, and I had to smile seeing the Röhl´s interview after the match. The way he pronounces "derby" the way Germans do other than the English do. Anyway , keep up the good work , there were chances to be taken.
  14. RIP Sir There aren´t footballers like him nowadays. or rarely. Humble, down to earth and fair. The football world has lost a legend.
  15. it is getting too quiet in here....so, a little tune to dance to or at least tap your feet.
  16. I am watching Happy Valley too.....just to hear some Yorkshire accents. But I must confess it takes a lot of effort to get everything . I´m missing the landscape a little.
  17. this gem was my introduction to Jazz....way back when.
