  1. Thought the one year was what he requested?
  2. Only a 2 point deduction for buying players and then not bothering to pay monies owed for them They've got off lightly Not much of a deterrent that. Were the panel Leicester City supporters?
  3. Coming back from 2 down against a side who should have been out of sight, will hopefully bring a bit of confidence going to the next match at home to Stoke. Special mention to Paterson who changed the game. Worked his socks off to help drag us a vital point.
  4. Honours board addition Kept Klopps Liverpool to only one goal in 45 minutes.
  5. I'll never forget Dads words for this match. We went to this game with him and a school friend of his. Sat in the leppings lane end in the lower tier and were at the side Neville Southall was warming up. Oh no, not Nev in goal his words were. Both adults then went on a memory trip of what a fantastic goalkeeper Neville Southall was and one of, if not, the best goalkeeper in the 80s. He didn't play that well, but neither did the Everton team. Even with Mike Walker in, they were struggling and looked a side low on confidence. 5-1 flattered them from memory. We should have scored a lot more Remember one fan in that end telling Southall to give up and get his crutchets after we made it 2-0. Also the 'Down with United' chants we sang at them. I was certain they would be relegated and couldn't believe it when they survived. Then I saw the Match of the Day highlights and Hans Segers' goalkeeping masterclass
  6. Doncaster got another win I see, beating Wrexham 1-0. The thought of being on that Welcome to Wrexham documentary next season is as bad as having to play in that Johnstones Paint Trophy again. Seen Stockport and Mansfield are 1st and 2nd in that division. Not surprised at that, given both sides completely outplayed a "championship" team away this season.
  7. Quite a few fans that were banned used to go to the host of where Wednesday were playing but never went to the match. As an example, a chap called Paul used to come with us on some away journeys but never attended the game whilst his sons did. He just found a pub and stayed there for the duration of the game. We'd then catch up with him after the game before heading back to Sheffield. Ricky may have been like that. Happily sit in a pub near where Wednesday are playing and wait there till the game finished. Then head back with away fans to Yorkshire.
  8. I assume we're also getting the blame for that Newcastle supporter spitting at the players when we took a 1-0 lead.
  9. Makes a change from blaming Conservative Brexit voters for everything
  10. "But Mummy, but mummy, but mummy - I only threw a pool ball because I found it so nasty that those Leeds fans dared celebrate their victory at Hillsborough. Had they not celebrated their goals, it wouldn't have happened". Seriously, what the fuck goes in someones braincell to think throwing pool or snooker balls at opposition fans would be funny?
  11. I remember Paddy Kenny used to goad us a lot when he played for United. The Hillsborough crowd gave him grief and he gave it back. All good humoured banter Same when Benik Afobe returned to Hillsborough with Wolves. He scored from the penalty and gave the crowd a bit of jip. He got the reaction he wanted. I remember he actually tweeted about it saying he enjoyed the to and fro with Wednesday fans after we beat them 4-1. Part and parcel of the game. If fans cannot take it, well kindly fuck off and find something else to do. No justification for acting like little wankers over that mean player celebrating.
  12. I'm struggling to remember if this is the same Ricky or not Derby County away when they beat us 1-0 under Brian Laws (90th minute winner). We were in a pub not far from their ground and a Ricky comes in saying there's an even better pub to go to in the city centre. We decide to follow him there as apparently a karaoke or something like that was about to happen. Well it was a pretty crap pub to be fair and no karaoke so we walked out after one drink and headed back to where we were. Word got round that around 15 minutes after we left, Derbys' firm arrived in that pub and beat the crap out of him and a small minority of Wednesday fans that stayed. Quite glad we moved on
  13. Think you cannot underestimate the impact the Huddersfield thrashing had on the team. Pretty certain there was words exchanged afterwards, which seemed to be taken the correct way.
  14. Eddie Howe would do a decent job with the England team. Although Newcastle fans won't be happy about that.
  15. Unsure if you've seen this Bradders https://www.fearthewall.com/2022/8/9/23297988/further-details-revealed-in-nico-schulz-domestic-abuse-allegations-bvb-borussia-dortmund If it's true (from further reading) that he attacked his girlfriend kicking her womb whilst wishing the unborn to die... well Strange how times change. I remember the outrage over the possiblity of Lee Hughes signing for us before he went to Notts County
  16. Out of interest, when did Mason Holgate have monkey noises aimed at him during the 5-0 defeat to Brighton? Or is there any video evidence of a fan calling him the same name a supporter clearly calls Kasey Palmer in a West Ham United bloggers youtube video? I assume you've put him there due to what's happened this weekend?
  17. I'm old enough to remember having to drive through Newbury on that road instead of the bypass The A14, A406, A31 and A35 give the A34 a good run for its money as worst road of the UK.
  18. Thanks Leicester for taking it easy second half. Unsure if that was instructions from their captain or they were just happy with the 3 points.
  19. It was a deserved victory in the end. Came out wanting that second goal instead of sitting back like last season. Got it and then controlled the game till the end. Helped by Birmingham giving up when we made it 2-0.
  20. Deserved that second from the way we've started
  21. Unsure what to make of that half We look quite dangerous when going forward. Ugbo was unlucky not to make it 2 just before half time But defensively, we are giving them the freedom of both wings. So many times they have got down the wing with both our full backs giving them so much space. I hope I'm wrong but I would be amazed if we keep a clean sheet. We need another goal at least
  22. Terrible decision was not taking Fulham or Newcastles £12,000,000 to £15,000,000 offer for him Sell that little cry baby for a huge amount of profit. That money could have gone on players that would have improved the team like Matt Phillips from QPR, Henri Lansbury from Forest (him and Keiran Lee in a mdifield) John Egan from Gillingham or Shane Duffy from Blackburn and possibly test Hull with a bid for Mo Diame (he went to Newcastle that season). In the end we give him a three and a half year contract for refusing to go on the team bus because he was "part of the family" I know he didn't want to leave but Tom Lees would have been replacable if we took Burnleys £5,000,000. John Egan went to Brentford from Gillingham for around £400,000 I think.
  23. Awwww, they need a go fund me https://www.gofundme.com/f/birmingham-bristol-city-protests?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer Funny how angry they were when there was an alleged go fund me set up to pay the tax owed
  24. Thank goodness that's over, two very poor sides on show tonight. 0-0 is probably a true reflection of the game. Quite frankly that open goal they missed and Smiths awful header summed up the quality both sides have up front. One of those games where both sides could have been playing till Saturday and neither team would score. It wasn't like either side tried to give each other the win with some questionable defending and some poor decisions in the middle leading to chances. Point is the only positive from this evening, given we lost a similar game this season at home to Caerdydd in the league
