When Liverpool are at full strength in midfield, it means that he gets protection with Henderson in front in that midfield three. Today he’s had to deal with a wide player without as much coverage and he’s been tortured. As a full back he’s not quick enough, physical enough or aware enough to be an elite full back defensively. Walker is the best defensive right back on the planet as it stands now. Trippier has been brilliant at Newcastle this season, and above all else he’s a good footballer and good going forward. My issue with TAA is that for him to be a success he needs to play the Liverpool system and he needs a disciplined player in front of him. The issue is at left back.
