NON Wednesday transfer thread 23/24

Recommended Posts

Colin is looking to take advantage of Wigan and Reading's current predicaments and sign Callum Lang and Junior Hoilett.

Hoilett is out of contract at Reading, though they have offered another one, and Lang can walk away from Wigan due to non payment of wages.

Maybe Hudders new owner is a bit short after buying the club

Peterborough have signed Ryan De Havilland from Barnet for around £600k.

22 year old box to box midfielder who was at Fulham's academy for 11 years prior to joining Barnet.

They know there are other clubs they can sign players from don't they?

Don't know how they've pulled this one off but Wigan have signed Liam Morrison on loan from Bayern Munich.

Highly thought of Scotland u21 centre half, originally at Celtic before moving to Bayern's reserves. Had broken through into the first team and been involved in a couple of games.

Sounds like David Bates

How are they doing all this within FFP? If they pay £4m+ for Simms, they've already paid £2m+ for that kid from Peterborough haven't they? Didn't they spend on a few last season too?

Aye, £2.5 for Taylor, and wasn't it about £2m for Broadhead too?

FFP didn't count in League One.

Because the cost is amortised over the length of the players contract. So a 3m player on a 3 year contract - a sum of 1m is allocated to each year and its that for FFP purposes

Derby basically played the system by saying said player would be worth 2m at the end of the contract so only wrote of 333k per year. Incorrect accounting as it transpired.

Of course if you manage to sell a player at a profit it helps with all this

Burnley have signed goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux from Leyton Orient on a 3 year contract. Came through Spurs and Liverpool academy and has been Orient's player of the year for the last 3 seasons.

BPF on his way out?

Could well be…..

Peterborough have brought in Tshimanga, from Chesterfield, for an initial £250k with goal bonuses on top.

Clarke-Harris is 'unofficially' up for sale as Peterborough try and generate some revenue. His contract expires at the end of next season.

Alfie May.

From Cheltenham to Charlton.

Alfie May now set to drop down a division and join Gillingham. Lot being said about him moving back home but he's moving for the money. Gillingham's owner is spending big.

Chucked quite a bit at it in January too as I recall. Fair play to them, the last bloke ran them into the ground. Could they be a dark horse for promotion?

Former Owls loanee Lewis Gibson has joined Plymouth

Watch him turn from a player who was held together with spit and lolly sticks when he was with us, to breaking records for consecutive games played.

(Although I can’t say I checked if he’d already done that after he left us)
