I was one of those that thought he could do a job for us but he went to Belgium to chase the money. He's by far and away Beerschot's highest wage earner and he's got 2 years left on a contract that, reportedly, has no release clause and no relegation wage reduction clause. Beerschot tried to get rid in January and offered him to several clubs back in Scotland but his wages are now a major stumbling block to his return. Shankland gave an interview a couple of weeks ago where he said he was surprised they'd gone down two months before the end of the season but he was looking forward to next season in Belgium. I knew he'd fucked off abroad somewhere but didn't know he was in Belgium. Shankland has always been an interesting one.
