  1. I agree with this. In what other business do you get a bail / hand out if you fvck up, as per the parachute payments. To me it a) encourages clubs to live beyond their means and b) for agents and players to ask for stupid wages.
  2. He seemed to be truly remorseful about what he did and I don’t think anyone would argue it was a stupid thing to do. However I would be amazed if any SAFC fan either noticed him holding up his phone and or what was on it. The outrage cane later on social media. I saw it reported on the local news last night (can’t recall which channel BBC/ITV) but to be fair to them they spent a reasonable amount of time talking about the money raised by our fans and what it would be used to pay for.
  3. Don’t want to hear from any Palace fans about anything to do with our club after they cheated us into a relegation on the last day of the season. Not helped by a nobhead breaking his own toe.
  4. 23k in the PL against not a particularly high profile team. Granted we werent exactly flying but two good result in the run up. Jump 30years. More or less 26k in the Championship, rock bottom against hardly a big crowd puller. Despite all said and done its pretty amazing really.
  5. I don’t know about pinned but there was definitely some blocking of runs so that their runners could get the headers in, which will come from practicing good set pieces. Something I’m expecting DR will want from us. I agree with Hoyland as well, booing your own keeper during a game isn’t the brightest thing to do, even if he has been at fault. Btw, the ref was absolutely rank today. It would be wrong to say we lost because of him but my god he was incredibly inconsistent and totally clueless with some of the decisions. It’s just galling on the back of some recent poor officials, eg at Bristol.
  6. Really hope so. https://www.swfc.co.uk/news/2023/november/post-millwall-reaction/ What else can he say.
  7. It seems we have some half decent youngsters. Unfortunately we know not many will make it to the big time, but it’s interesting that DR has remarked about having close links to the first team. At the moment it’s understandable!
  8. I understand what people are saying about playing BB in a two in centre midfield and I agree. However I think he did provide some of the better bits of play going forward, eg the run and pass for Musaba (that he blazed over - you’ve got to hit the target from there!)
  9. Very disappointing today. As soon as they came on the pitch I was concerned at the size of their team and knowing we had Johnson, BB, Musaba and Gassama that aren’t going to win many headers. Was it Fletcher that was supposed to be marking their 3 that scored their first, enough said if so. Fletcher is one of the worst loanees we’ve had, and we know we have had some shite. DR has clearly made an impact but has also has to try and make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Smith and Gregory aren’t going to score 20 in this league but having neither of them available today was going to be a problem. Smith gives you the hustle and bustle and can score a goal, Gregory has that experience. We looked utterly toothless. Danny did do well for his first proper 45mins but it was going to be tough against an experienced Championship team like Millwall. Despite the disappointment I think the score flattered Millwall even if they did enough to win. Tbf to DR I feel he went for it 2nd half which was always a risk and unfortunately a 0-2 becomes a 0-4. Im not for throwing the towel in yet, but only because 4th bottom might still be possible but we need to pick up points, ie if we can’t win, don’t lose. I’ve not seen QPR but Rotherham and Huddersfield look poor teams as well. If by some miracle we could get a tune out of Smith, Gregory and DC until Jan then who know, but I agree it looks very difficult. I agree with others Diaby is poor, Icky might not be much better but I just feel he’s a better positional sense. Diaby is probably getting the nod because he’s thought to be better in the air, I’m not so sure. My worry is the manager goes at the end of the season, to me he looks like one of the few assets we have.
  10. Agreed. Wasn’t he also at Cov last season in the team that was one kick from the PL?
  11. We should be charging him for the ideas!
  12. Is Delgado injured? If memory serves me well, he’s not featured at all since DR arrived, which is some contrast to when the previous manager was selecting the team. I never was that impressed with him, apart from the odd good run, with no end product.
  13. If the ref was poor, he was for both teams. He was inconsistent throughout. Some meaty challenges went on with no free kick and then little nudges were sanctioned. I don’t think he’s the best we’ve seen but he generally did let play go imho.
  14. It’s one of those decisions where the owner thinks they should be doing better even though there are probably 6-10 clubs that have either PL parachute money etc. So the manager gets the boot.
  15. Keep this rate of progress up and maybe we can claw our way out of the bottom 3. Plymouth wasn’t good but there were also some good signs. Today was almost unrecognisable compared to the first 10 games.
  16. Had to laugh a little bit at Smith being awarded MoM, was that partly a Toytown wind up? Granted he scored 2 goals which is MoM form but I thought there were others that did more all round, eg I thought Iorfa was absolutely great today.
  17. He should have scored I agree but a) he was there to make the header and b) he did the thing strikers are told to do, ie head it down
  18. I agree MK. I think we have to recognise Toytown are poor but a) they know how to scrap a scruffy point in this league and b) according to my son-in-law they were decent in the week, even if their keeper was a bit dubious, as we saw today. Leading by 3 or 4 at HT wouldn’t have flattered but I was also pretty happy that we kept the door shut in the 2nd. Looks like Happy has the thread gig for now!
  19. If you don’t have to pay a bill until Jan and it’s not stopping you sign players etc, why would you pay. I’m sure I must be missing a subtlety here, right?
  20. 8 years, wheres that time gone. The rate of backward steps since then 🙃
  21. I’ll stop you at the first part of the sentence, if only he did do that! God how we need a set piece coach at the minute.
  22. It might be perception rather than reality but I think we’ve tended to do better against Toytown when we have lower expectations, which I think the majority of us would say we have at the moment. Playing the ex millers in the team could give us an edge but that works both ways. Im looking forward to Sunday because I haven’t been in a while but not for the prospect of silky football!
