holmesfield_owl Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 We need another run of results so I'll step back in. Weather looks shite, wet and windy. No idea what state pitch will be in after snow Thursday then melt. I'm going for a very scrappy 2-1 win and cutting the gap back to 5 points. Quote

Gamblor Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 We will win this game. The match against Huddersfield was abberation brought about by a demanding match a few days before and the difficulty of playing high intensity games in quick succession with a squad that hasn’t been built for it. Röhl alluded to making changes for Coventry to prioritise Birmingham in his post match comments and I think it will show on Friday night. Quote

If it doesn't show and the players do what Tewkesbury has said in another thread and capitulate after the first goal then Rohl will also get it (rightly or wrongly) for missing an opportunity to progress in the cup and have a serious crack at a quarter final place. Because of the last two results. Because of his last team selection. This could be a real sliding doors moment for Rohl if he gets it wrong tomorrow 1 Quote

Beaconowl Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Snap, I honestly do not think it is as much about who plays for them, but rather who is playing for us. As discussed on multiple other threads, we give away the ball too easily, make too many mistakes, our heads drop lower than a whores draws. TBH I am more worried about us than I am Brum 1 Quote
Tewksbury Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 We have proved, that when up for it, we can compete with most teams in the league. It's just whether they are up for it. 1 Quote

holmesfield_owl Posted February 9, 2024 Author Posted February 9, 2024 Pitch was already bare before all the snow yesterday and rain at the moment. Going to look bloody awful if it does go ahead. Not sure we'd turn it on anyway snap even if it was working, must cost a fortune to run nowadays for a prolonged period 1 Quote
KrolMong Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 I’m missing out on a title deciding Futsal game tonight to watch this (nothing to do with me having my wisdom teeth out yesterday). I think we will win tonight. 1 Quote

Tank_Owl2,0 Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 I hope I’ll be eating humble pie later, but there’s no guile in that top 4. Yes lots of running and energy but poor decision making is what is limiting our goal scoring. Quote
Andyben Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 I've not seen Poveda play yet so reserve judgement but Gassama is a wonderful player. At least the old uns will be able to tell th wingers apart eh @Owling_Wolf 2 Quote

Canterburyowl Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 Mo Diaby... first time I have seen him, didnt realise just how slow/immobile he is. I fear for us in this game based on the first 15 mins Quote

Kiwi Owl Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 Unsure what to make of that half We look quite dangerous when going forward. Ugbo was unlucky not to make it 2 just before half time But defensively, we are giving them the freedom of both wings. So many times they have got down the wing with both our full backs giving them so much space. I hope I'm wrong but I would be amazed if we keep a clean sheet. We need another goal at least Quote
Andyben Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 Poveda has more assists in 45 minutes than Bannan has this season Quote
KrolMong Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 Odd half. They look a good side, and have gone after us. But, Ugbo and Poveda have caused problems and we could be 3-up. Diaby could have been hooked after 15 minutes, but got better as the game wore on. That said, he’s not comfortable receiving the ball with his back to goal and Bacuna fancies it against him over 5 yards. Gassama and Valentin have been poor. The Brum right back has taken Gassama apart both ways. Crititcal first 10. Quote
Otto_Man Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 I'd hook Gassama at half time, hasn't looked interested and their right has been where all the attacking threat has come from. Bring on Pedersen and push Johnson up. Quote
