  1. Well he was still doing this at 59
  2. Until Rohl came in there's never been a true synergy between academy and first team. It's why I banged on about downgrading and creating a B team There wasn't even true cohesion between u15/16s and the first-year scholarship group which is why we always used to hold open trials at U18s. The 18s, 23s (as then was) and the first team all played different styles depending on who was in the squads which became a major reason why we used to release so many. Rohl has everyone from u15 upwards playing the same way and has instigated a coach the coaches programme coupled with the likes of Vaulks doing his coaching hours in there as well. It's stuff like this that makes me feel Rohl is here for the duration. If he came in thinking fuck it I'm off if we're relegated then I don't think he'd have spent this much time and effort on the academy
  3. He'd last two minutes as the man in charge. Might make someone a decent number 2 though.
  4. And here's the get out of jail free card "The clubs will now have the burden of proof to show that deals with associated companies are of "fair market value",The clubs will be required to provide a declaration from a director of the associated party that the deal is considered to be fair.' All a club like Man City has to do is determine their value within the Premier League's new 4 year £6.7bn tv rights deal and act accordingly. New stadium naming rights sponsorship at £400m over the same timeframe and a director at Etihad Airways says it's fair market value based on PL and Sky projected viewing figures.
  5. We've stopped watching Rocco Vata at Celtic. Apparently signed a pre-nup with AC Milan
  6. Going early as the rumours and possibles have started. If we stay in the Championship and Rohl is still here then Man Utd will offer us first choice on taking goalkeeper Radek Vitek on loan. They're impressed at how James Beadle has come on within our set up. Vitek is 20 years old, 6' 4" and built like a brick shit house. Very imposing and commanding but extremely agile. Currently on loan at Accrington and doing very well, despite their results. Signed a new long term contract at Old Trafford, in January, and they have high hopes of him being a future number 1 sooner rather than later. Schmeichel and Oliver Khan both rave about him.
  7. Everton have posted another £89m loss for 22/23. They're seriously fucked
  8. The general conception of Johan Cruyff wearing 2 stripes on his Netherlands kit is that he was sponsored by Puma at the time and they threatened to pull his sponsorship if he wore Adidas but it goes deeper than that. Cruyff's wife had Jewish family members who died in Sobibor and Auschwitz and he refused to wear Adidas because of that. The connection ran so deep for him that he entered signed testimony into Yad Vashem on behalf of members of his wife's family. He also gave money to Dutch people and organisations who had sheltered Jews during WW2. On his death Maccabi Tel-Aviv wore black armbands and specially designed shirts with 14 incorporated into the design. Rudolph was never a member of the Nazi Party. In contrast Adolf was a fervent member and the story goes that he used his party connections to conscript Rudolph into the army so that he could take full control of the business and hope Rudolph never came home.
  9. He could go slightly in front of a back 4 in a 4-1-4-1 which is where Hoddle played himself and he could cover across the back line and pick up short within the gaps. He had arguably his best seasons with us playing left so it makes sense to place him there but if he's also going to be the defensive outlet then he becomes easy to shut down and we could become lopsided trying to assist. However he also could be a useful decoy as we lure the opposition over then switch to release Valentin down the right.
  10. As many have said, the home game set up doesn't work away. But with the opposition we have left to play we may need to set up more pragmatic at home as well. We need to provisionally set up for the draw first against QPR and Norwich. Then see where we sit and what we have to do against Stoke. Playing Blackburn on Sunday now becomes a godsend as well can set up dependent on the previous day's results. Rohl and his team now have to look at what's around them and not just the opposition in front. There's only Plymouth with the proverbial easy game this weekend. There's a 6 pointer at Huddersfield and Birmingham are at Leicester. And we need to take this approach on every game day. Plymouth still have to play QPR Leicester and Millwall who could still be flirting with the drop. Birmingham still have Coventry Huddersfield and playoff chasing Norwich on the last day. Huddersfield still have to go to Bristol City and are away at Ipswich on the last day. We have to look for points in all of our next four games. I don't care if that means playing the most boring football in the world. I don't want to be entertained. I want to be in the championship next season
  11. They're reacting to Foster's sacking at Plymouth Idiots
  12. Been giving some thought to @Andyben idea of playing Bannan in defence and was wondering if he could play the Glenn Hoddle Swindon/Chelsea 'sweeper' role, especially if we're going to insist on playing out short. We've all seen the number of times he used to drop too deep and leave the gap in the middle. I think he could get a few more years out of his career playing that role lower down but it's too late to be experimenting this season.
  13. With who? Hendrick was wank before his injury and we've been playing a right sided defender in there because we don't have options. Friday's game showed what we're like without any creativity in the middle and yes Bannan was wank today but there was nothing else. The only way would have been to switch to 4-2-3-1 but that would mean playing a proper left back and for some reason Rohl doesn't fancy James. It would also mean Bannan having to hold position in front of the middle two and he just can't do that and Windass isn't fit enough yet.
  14. That back 3 is a bit unbalanced. Would rather Ihiekwe was in the middle with either Palmer or Iorfa on his right.
  15. Cook was never going to push on with us. Brought in to fill a gap. Busy enough but not prolific. Alimi-Adetoro should find at least a National North/South club if he doesn't want too much money. Slightly lightweight but there's a cultured player in there. Glover is a bit of a puzzle. I've a lot of time for him but Holdsworth and possibly Rohl must see better prospects in the 18s to spend time on. If so it just reinforces the belief that there's a long term structure now on place. I had him as a better version of Alex Hunt but maybe he's stalled a bit. He didn't pull up trees on his last loan move to Spennymoor
  16. @KrolMong Using the recent Ipswich investment as a benchmark (also noting that all the PR blurb around that said UPTO £105m) I'd put two offers on the table. £60m for the club. DC keeps the ground but rent is kept at the already agreed repayment structure for the next five years. After that I have an option to buy the ground back at whatever is left to pay on the original 'purchase' price. That would mean Sheffield 3 is responsible for general upkeep and any updating requirements specified by relevant authorities for 5 years and would enable me to spend on the playing side. Another £60m would be set aside, in a shell company, for investment to pay for the ground after 5 years. If I've got half a billion going spare then I'd know where to invest. 5 years would also give me plenty of time to look for a new ground site (fuck the traditionalists, it's my club now) Or I take the lot for AB's £80m, possibly pushing to £90m, but no PL bonus payment. I'd use Pubehead's umbrella principle and stick the club, as a shareholder (or however Boro sits) underneath my highest profit generator and use the dividends to part fund the club. This then falls in line with the new 80% revenue spend that's coming in. Other revenue will be generated by organising reciprocal, over market value, sponsorship deals. Might be a bit unethical (ahem) but one of my untraceable offshore investment portfolios 'invests' in a chain that leads to someone buying Jones Ltd and sponsoring the club for stupid amounts a season. I'd also name each one of the stands after my companies on a yearly sponsorship deal. £100m is invested to pay for ground improvements. £50m is set aside to pay to move away from Middlewood. In either case there's a five year and ten year plan put in place on the playing side and we follow the Brighton model. If Graham Potter fancies it then he becomes the new DoF.
  17. 5-3-2 with overlapping wingbacks, Musaba sitting in front of Palmer and Vaulks and given the freedom of the pitch to go marauding. In attack it turns into 3-2-3-2 with Palmer and Vaulks holding
  18. That's the one. That's the absolute nailed on response you'll get from anyone who's on the 1867 bus when you've steamrolled over every other topic they bring up. We don't own our own ground and Chansiri is taking millions out of the club in 'rent'.
  19. We can play any academy players that were already registered at the club before yesterday, provided they're not trialists. So we can't play the lad from Watford. The rule has changed this season. It used to be that they had to have been in a prior matchday squad in order to play after the 4th Thursday. A lot of clubs have been caught out by the relaxation as the wording is horrific.
  20. Isn't that new Gulliver's theme park still within the Sheffield boundary? They picked that land up for next to nowt (relative to normal purchases)
  21. People will accept anything if it fits their narrative or the one they subscribe to. Dave in the pub knows the lass in reception and she says two Indian blokes with large suitcases walked in last Thursday and Chansiri wouldn't see them, mainly because he was in Thailand at the time. Got back in a City Rover with Infosys written all over it. Got to be true ain't it. Dave wouldn't lie Then there's the box watchers who try and do face recognition on anyone new sitting there. Like Carson Yeung that time and thank fuck we dodged that bullet. And don't forget that Arab in full white buying a pork sarnie from Beres.
  22. I was thinking the same. No private equity firm is going to 'invest' £105m unless they're already seeing a structure on returns. Especially when Bright Path are 'borrowing' money from Simon Group in the first place.
  23. Latest from the Nevs. They're trying to legitimise the cause by attaching themselves to the protest groups of two basket case clubs with legitimate ownership concerns that could have dire consequences for their respective clubs.
