Can we smash the Potters this weekend?

Recommended Posts

Plenty of effort but failing to win our most winnable home game in front of 32k when the job was almost done feels terrible. In going for a second we let them in. Had 1 nil all over it.

Huddersfield probably feeling equally sick with that 100th minute ex player penalty which keeps them in it too

We need Rotherham to do something against Birmingham otherwise we are going to most likely need to win 2 of 3 games now to have a chance. Two leads chucked away v Swansea and Stoke with really soft goals is something we have seen too many times from sides who are unable to stay up. Maybe playing away will suit some of our attacking players but there can’t be any room for error now. Here’s to a miracle three game run.

We seemed to collectively run out of steam, the energy expended 2nd half v Norwich taking its toll. I would have liked the subs a bit sooner once that came obvious.

Thing is you can rattle Norwich with up and at em style, but Stoke are well tuned to dealing with it. We just needed a bit more calmer possession.

In the end they had the better chances to win it in that last 20 whilst we just huffed a bit.

If midweek went our way then the weekend has not with unexpected results. We will know a bit more by the next time we play - but it's going to game 45 at least given the fixtures

I think we absolutely need two wins from the last three. We have to win at all costs next weekend at Blackburn - there is no hiding from that.

Issue today, not enough quality in the final third. Either with pass or finish.

Not really sure why Ihiekwe is flying in for the Stoke equaliser, wrong decision.

Ugbo had to score early on really, disallowed goal not sure there was a lot going on but you would never get a penalty

Really?  Looked nailed on (with VAR) to me from the North Stand.  Not saying I expected us to get it, just saying Arsenal or Liverpool would have.

DR should have used his subs sooner, was saying so at the time.  But we could have been 3-0 up after 20 minutes.

Only found out about Bristol’s equaliser by reading about it on here.  The thinnest of silver linings.

Surely the headlines are being written last kick of the game against Sunderland it’s our first penalty first time we’ve been out of bottom three since August safety secured limbs in the stand and for those watching at home 💙💙💙

Whilst we can't get relegated until game 45, then any survival would also be game 46.

There is one permutation, if both Brum and Udders lose next week and draw in their fixture, then if we win our next 2 games we would be safe. Chances of that erm put a £1 on and have a holiday.

We were 4th bottom for about 8 minutes today 🤣

Performance was there today but the result wasn't, heartbreaking to concede after taking lead.

First half they hardly got in our half and we should have gone in at half time 2 goals up.

It's looking tough now to stay up, playing next Sunday ain't good, if others win Saturday it puts us under even more pressure to get a win at Blackburn.

Tough one today, not exactly a repeat of Swansea but almost the same in terms of performance and result. I thought today we were even more dominant and deserved our goal, but just ran out of steam. Like others have said it probably needed changing earlier but DR knows the fitness of the players better than we do.

The combination of not scoring enough and the debacle of the first 10 games is now what is pulling us back. Even 4 or 5 points from the first dozen games would mean we don’t have the do or die pressure which I feel is starting to weighing hard on these players, plus add into it players like Fletcher and Hendrick as summer signings contributing absolutely nothing to the squad.

Its not over but it feel like we need some other results to go our way now, unlike todays and last night. Whilst today was never going to be terminal, if we don’t win next week I think it will be over even if it isn’t mathematically, because WBA will be tough like Norwich were and unless their playoff position is confirmed (looking unlikely) they will still have something to play for.

its a massive shame given the effort put in since DR came in and the prospect of L1 AGAIN is just awful for a club with our tradition and fan base.
