Are people really suggesting we were in a position to request a fee for him?

The fact he’s still here now the window is shut should give you a clue

Lots of loans now have fees attached to them of some form.

Typically for Wednesday we could not get the deal done.

I do think Marvin has been caught as a 'victim' of circumstance through change of Manager, style and formation.  These things happen.

They do, and others don’t. When you’re paying someone that’s contributing nothing and there aren’t many suitors I’d argue if you ask for a loan fee the deal won’t get done

You're just focusing on this as yet another stick to beat the club with

This is the bit from the news article that got my attention.

FIFA clarified its regulations on the “status and transfer of players” (RSTP) in November 2021. Amendments to Article 14 (2) found that asking a player to train on their own may result in a club engaging in “abusive conduct”.

The change is thought to have come about after it was suggested the theory of a player training alone could be at odds with UK employment law.

If any of that is true (and I’m not for one minute suggesting that it is) then I have no issue whatsoever with the PFA getting involved and investigating. Whatever anyone’s thoughts are on the situation, the club is not above the law!

I’d like to know who contacted them though.

I genuinely don’t get the fuss about this (well I suppose I do, it’s another stick to beat Chansiri with). Manager doesn’t fancy a player who is over 30 and didn’t always shine in League One. Club perhaps tried to hold out for more but bluff was called, gamble didn’t come off. So what.

Honestly asking in case I've missed something but has the club started making Johnson train on his own?

Yorkshire Live website says it 'understands' Johnson is training alone but Xisco says he's with the squad, using the same fitness coaches, and using the same facilities as everyone else.

The PFA standpoint is that a player should have access to same standard of training resources if he's not in the squad.

The other option is that Johnson is actively training on his own, or his agent has suggested it, so it makes the club look bad. George Hirst did the same under orders from his agent. Refused to train with the 21s. If that's so then FIFA article 14 won't count as long as the club isn't denying him access.

Probably Bartos.

He isn’t training with the first team squad but he isn’t training on his own. That’s what I got from Xisco’s press conference.

Yawn. Look back at that training story I said it’s a non story. No excuse for pissing more money away though when we had the opportunity to farm him out

I’ll call out and highlight our fuck ups.

How is this a fuck up?

No one knows why the Derby loan broke down apart from Derby, Wednesday, Johnson and probably his agent.

Just because he's still drawing a wage doesn't mean the club fucked up. Every player still has a worth and disregarding that worth just to get him off the books is wrong. We might recuperate his wages if we offload in January and still save on the next 6 months. So just to dump him to get rid seems kind of stupid.

If Derby really wanted him that much they'd have structured some kind of payment option.

What's a £100k to us and Derby? About the same revenue two home games would generate so the pissing around was over a month's income. We're not talking bankrupting Derby here. If Warne really wanted him they'd have done the deal. This was Warne pissing in the wind to see which way it blew and if we'd release him for nothing. He has a track record for it. Just look up how many last minute loan deals Rotherham didn't quite pull off while he was there.

How much do people think loans actually cost. Do you think our loan signings don't come with a fee attached, a promotion bonus etc.

It may have been at one of the fans forums where Chansiri suggested that that cost of a loan player is not that far off what a transfer could cost. Maybe that is a year on year basis. I don't know.

Don't talk to me about employment law, I often play with myself in the office and that got me in a lot of trouble I can tell you

Players get frozen out. It happens, has happened for years and will happen again and again.

Not nice for Marv, but he’s still training, and still getting paid considerably more than probably all of us on here.
He’ll move on in January, and that’s it.
