  3. The one consolation of a shit season is that are are usually plenty of Alan Harper points, and so far that’s the case, with another hatful at Cardiff. 5. Yes, I’m ok thanks. It just takes it out of you doesn’t it?
  6. It’s a yes from me. Just not got the motivation to do it myself anymore. Sorry I left last season’s hanging.
  7. I think it must have been. Anyone else think that was a penalty. We’re on the edge of the Kop penalty area now, so it’s a way away, but it looked it to us.
  8. Just a yellow for Vasquez in the home defeat to Preston. Lee Gregory 4 Callum Paterson 3 Cameron Dawson 1 Juan Delgado 1 Pol Valentine 1 Devis Vasquez 1 Will Vaulks 1 Josh Windass 1
  9. Still no points onto the main table, but Delgado’s first Wednesday goal gets him two points in Meaningful Goals as it gave us the lead at Hull. Smith’s consolation doesn’t get him anything. Meaningful Goals Juan Delgado 2 Tyreeq Bakinson 1 Lee Gregory 1
  10. Well at least the Alan Harper Award has got off to a cracking start. Reigning champion Gregory takes the lead with two points for conceding the penalty and another for the accompanying yellow card. Paterson made it three yellows in three games, and Windass also went into the ref’s book. Lee Gregory 4 Callum Paterson 3 Cameron Dawson 1 Juan Delgado 1 Pol Valentine 1 Will Vaulks 1 Josh Windass 1
  11. There are only Meaningful Goals points up for grabs in cup games, and Bakinson got himself for his late equaliser v Stockport. Meaningful Goals Tyreeq Bakinson 1 Lee Gregory 1
  12. Paterson takes an early lead with two yellow cards in as many games. The Stockport clash also brought yellow cards for debutant Valentin and Vaulks. Callum Paterson 2 Cameron Dawson 1 Juan Delgado 1 Lee Gregory 1 Pol Valentine 1 Will Vaulks 1
  13. Me too. Just bought my ticket. Was surprised that both the North and South stands are open for it.
  14. Out of the relegation zone now. We are staying up, say we are staying up.
  15. Pre-amble for any new posters/readers Most of you will be up to speed on the famous Alan Harper Award, but just for any new readers, here's a quick explanation. Points are awarded for misdemeanours throughout the season and the player with the most points at the end of the season takes the prestigious award. Points are awarded as follows, Yellow card - 1 point Penalty conceeded - 2 points Penalty missed - 2 points Red card - 3 points Own goal - 3 points Alan Harper was a squad member of the excellent Everton side of the 80s, who always seemed to have a stormer against us - in fact he scored the first goal against us in the 1985-86 F.A. Cup semi final. So when Wednesday signed him for £275,000 in June 1988 it's fair to say that most Wednesdayites were pretty pleased with the signing. Predictably, he then turned out to be absolute garbage for us. It is not his lack of form that sees this competition named after him though, but his antics in a 4-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, in which he conceeded a penalty, scored an own goal and got booked, an impressive 6 points all in one game. The Alan Harper Award was a mainstay of Cheat fanzine between 1989 and 1996, made a return in War of the Monster Turcks in the 00s, and has been resident on Owlsonline since 2006. The Owlsonline winners of the Alan Harper Award are; 2006-07. Tommy Spurr 2007-08. Jermaine Johnson 2008-09. Mark Beevers 2009-10. Lewis Buxton 2010-11. Giles Coke 2011-12. Reda Johnson 2012-13. Miguel Llera 2013-14. Sam Hutchinson 2014-15. Glen Loovens 2015-16. Sam Hutchinson 2016-17. Sam Hutchinson 2017-18. Daniel Pudil 2018-19. Barry Bannan 2019-20. Moses Odubajo 2020-21. Barry Bannan 2021-22. Barry Bannan 2022-23. Lee Gregory A nice start to this year’s campaign with four yellows v Southampton. Gregory, Paterson, Delgado and Dawson all found their way into the ref’s notebook. Cameron Dawson 1 Juan Delgado 1 Lee Gregory 1 Calum Paterson 1
  16. Welcome to this season's Who got us the points. The rules for Who got us the points are; In a draw. The player who scores the goal that secures a draw (our first in a 1-1 draw, our second in a 2-2 draw etc) is determined as having earnt us that point; or the defence in the case of a 0-0 draw. The defence's point is shared amongst the keeper and the defence. For a flat back four it is a straight 0.2 points each, for a back five it’s 0.2 for the keeper and the centre halves, and 0.1 for the wing backs. In the event of a defensive substitution if the substituted player has completed 70 minutes he'll still get the full 0.2 and the defender who replaces him won't get anything. Anything less than 70 minutes and he'll get 0.1 as will his replacement (or 0.05 for the wing backs). In a win. The player who scores the goal that made sure we got a draw (our first in a 2-1 or 3-1 win, our second in a 3-2 or 4-2 win) gets one point or the defence in the case of a to nil win, and the player who scores the winner (the second in a 2-1 or a 3-1 win etc) gets two points (as he turned a draw into a win). The Meaningful goals table will follow similar rules but the score at the time of the goal will be the key factor, so a goal that gives us a lead will earn the player two points, regardless of the final result, whilst a goal that puts us level will get a point. A goal that gives us a two goal cushion will get half a point, as will a goal that reduces the deficit to a single goal. Goals that put us three (or more) goals to the good will be considered as just the icing on the cake and won't be rewarded, similarly goals that bring us to within two (or more) goals of the opposition will be considered as mere consolations and hence also not credited. For this table cup goals will count. There’s no points onto the main table of course from the opening day defeat v Southampton; but Gregory’s equaliser gives him a point in Meaningful Goals. Meaningful Goals Lee Gregory 1
  17. Just went on the Sunday and bailed during Kaiser Chiefs. Mrs Cheat barely lasted an hour before she headed home. It was a proper test of endurance wading through the mud and getting wet through rather than enjoyment. Thought it was a good set from Reverend & The Makers, Heatwave in the Cold North raised a smile or two. Caught a brief bit of Black Honey and most of Wunderhorse’s set - all in all not a great return for £50; but the weather was no one’s fault. On the issue of it having lost its original roots; there are still the fringe events in town if that’s what you want. It is a pity that they’ve introduced the no re-entry policy, but from the organisers point of view I can see why they have; although I have seen many comments from people saying that they were allowed back in.
  18. You’re fine - Sewing Bee is on tonight.
  19. Very sad news indeed. RIP Trev - thanks for some great memories.
  20. I’m a bit worried now as I reckon you could do 100m in under 30 seconds. 7.5mph more or less gets you that time. A brisk walk is 4mph.
  21. Interesting that you say that. I heard him on Louis Theroux’s and thought he came across as very intelligent, humble and contrite. I was ready to really dislike him, but came away with a different opinion of him.
  22. A side I was playing for once ran a batsman out like that. Thing is, we were 12 and didn’t know any better.
