HoylandOwl Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Bannan bigs up the gaffer in the programme tomorrow night. "Best I've ever had..." Strong claims, but nice to hear. Quote
HoylandOwl Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Some of the usual head to head guff..... Our record V Leicester City is as follows Wednesday wins 42 Leicester City wins 40 Draws 28 Last time at S6 v The Foxes It's almost ten years since we last played against the Foxes at S6 according to Soccerbase, and it just doesn't seem that long ago... But.. It must be! Connor Wickham bagged a brace as Wednesday came from behind, to win 2-1 at Hillsborough. The Officials for the game. Referee: SAM BARROTT Assistants: Jonathan Hunt and Blake Antrobus Fourth Official : Carl Brook Sam Barrott has already officiated at S6 this season, the 0-3 loss to Sunderland. KrolMong Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 We’ll cause them problems, absolutely no doubt about that. But, I can still see them winning by 3 or 4, especially if we persist with Diaby at Centre half and center halves playing at full back. Quote
Hirstys 12th Pint Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Got to go with this team and formation tonight. Definitely no Diaby. Vasquez Iorfa Ihiekwe Bernard Palmer Johnson Vaulks Byers Bannan Musaba Smith or Gregory Was tempted to start Cadamarteri up top with Musaba and have the exuberance of youth. Quote
Andyben Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Hopefully we'll be finished against Galatasary in time for KO... Quote

Tylluan Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) If that's 4-5-1 then it's a waste of Bailey's assets and a big ask of him to play up top on his own. If it's 4-3-3 then it's Pato and Johnson up with him so why not Musaba and Pato or even Wilkes who's not even on the bench and I thought looked busy on Saturday. mkowl Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Nights like this just glad I took a bang on the head that removed the "let's do a 5 hour round trip and freeze my nads off to see a humbling defeat" cells from my brain Quote

Kiwi Owl Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 2 players there with the freedom of the penalty box Poor defending Quote
owl71 Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 We seemed very out of shape at the back there, considering it wasn’t really a fast counter attack. We’ve got nobody organising the defence and nobody who can put the ball in the net. Not the best combination. Quote
Gamblor Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 It’s been a decent performance, but that inability to score is killing us (or already has). Quote
Chelters Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 The encouraging sign there was that we didn’t collapse after the first goal as we have done so many times this season. We might collapse after the next one though…. 1 Quote
mkowl Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 It's basically on repeat. Between the boxes we are matching teams, just the lack of quality in the final 3rd and basic errors defensively. Quote
Kiwi Owl Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Some fans have been moaning about the tactic but there's nothing wrong with this 4-3-3/4-5-1 There's a lack of confidence in this team big time. Its so evident that the summers recruitment and managerial appointment has been a disaster Quote

DR has got us creating chances at least. Interesting that challenge. You can bet the other way round the ref would have rushed out the red card. 1 Quote

Kiwi Owl Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 That should have been 2-0 there, what a balls up that was Quote
Andyben Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 I'd play Buckley in Bannan's role from now on. Quote

Canterburyowl Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Always rated Hendrick ha. On a serious note Buckley has done more useful things in the last 10 than Hollywood Bannan had all game Quote

Andyben Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Get in. Hopefully this will feel like a win and energise the squad. Brannan, Palmer, bye bye. Quote
Chelters Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Be good for confidence that. Some players are maybe starting to look capable at this level and some…er…aren’t (including Johnson sadly) Quote

owl71 Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Well that was a pleasant surprise. Was thinking that the positives were that we didn’t fold, and we kept plugging away. It’s clear that the players believe in Röhl. We just need more reasons to believe in some of them. That was a start. Hopefully Hendrick’s anaemic displays after he first came here were down to lack of match fitness, and the goal is a sign of better to come. A point against the best team in the division is something to hang our hats on, a reason to believe for a little while longer. Quote
mkowl Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Over the course of 90 minutes we definitely deserved a draw, with a bit of quality in the first half we could have won that. Not sure we were going to retrieve it, but in the end a bit of route one did it. Why sometimes I wonder we fanny around at the back when we were losing the midfield. The issue now is whether we can go again Saturday Quote
Wollongong Owl Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Looks like Röhl is getting a bit of shine, polishing that turd. 1 Quote
