HoylandOwl Posted March 10, 2023 Author Posted March 10, 2023 DM comments from the pre match press conference. DM 💬 "We're going to set off early today, once we get out of Sheffield the conditions look a lot more favourable with the snow, so we can get down there and get ready." DM 💬 "With Pato and Mallik, loosely, we'll be looking at another couple of weeks before they're back." DM 💬 "Fratton Park is a wonderful place to play football and I'm really looking forward to seeing my former stomping ground." DM 💬 "We've got to keep pushing forward, we haven't done anything yet. "If we are to keep this momentum, we need to continue our hard work and be the best versions of ourselves." DM 💬 "Portsmouth are a big club with a large fanbase and they are looking to continue their upward trajectory and finish the season strong. "We'll have to be the best version of ourselves to come away with something." DM 💬 "David Stockdale is okay now, he's trained the last three days so he is good." DM 💬 "Ciaran Brennan’s loan to Swindon is similar to Cam Dawson's last season, but we're sad that this has been cut short. "Unfortunately, he has picked up a shoulder injury and will require an operation and he will go through his rehab with us. "He'll be back in pre-season." Quote

HoylandOwl Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 Unchanged side 2 games on the spin. Have we done that before this season? Quote

Andyben Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Would have liked Wilkes instead of one of the midfielders tho Quote

He'll cost us this match if he carries on with his current job! Before the booking he was inches away with a very late sliding, I'll be generous and call it a tackle. Quote
MAL Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Just to add, these tools that are commentating are absolutely awful. Quote
Kiwi Owl Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Not sure why Smith didn't play the ball forward to Windass there Quote
HoylandOwl Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 That's a cracking away first half IMO. Famewo has been excellent, as has Smith. His running is causing issues and dragging Raggett all over the place at the back. Windass drifting out on the right and through the middle, has been fantastic. As was the finish. BUT, we need to be a little more careful with the ball, they're having a lot of it. Although, not threatening too much. Quote
Kiwi Owl Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 This is a scrappy battle which was kind of expected. Hope Moore at half time works his magic again, this time gets them to calm down a lot. They're getting a bit angry out there given nothing is sticking forward wise. Quote
owl4ever1867 Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Caught bloody Covid for a 2nd time, feel bloody awful. Brown was a very lucky boy imo, that was a god awful challenge. Agree with Mal re Windass, why get involved. DM needs to have a stern word with a few at HT, calm them down. 1 Quote
KrolMong Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Portsmouth are a decent side. They are trying to move the back three about a slip passes down the sides of us. But, we look so dangerous on the break, Windass’ movement is causing chaos and there’s signs of Dele Bashiru getting behind them if the ball is better. Quote

KrolMong Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 What we do need is a spell of possession, just to take the sting out a bit, it’s not like we are giving the ball away a lot, but they keep winning free kicks 40 yards out, and we are conceding a lot of throws in our own half. When we string 3 or 4 passes together, we look so threatening. Quote

Kiwi Owl Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Reece James on for Brown Probably a wise decision given he was on a yellow card. I thought Portsmouth would be attacking down that side alot second half if Brown continued Quote
Kiwi Owl Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 That was some play there, almost the 2nd for us Smith off for Gregory Quote
Kiwi Owl Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Another chance for Windass Two great crosses from James Quote
