  1. Nobody has ever influenced the club with an open letter, just ask the Trust, and he's been here at least a month with the court case hanging over him. They could have started the engagement the moment he was spotted.
  2. Great stuff and good to hear. Looking forward to the full page write up in the Star
  3. The point with 1867 is would there be this much noise if 'one of their own' were in charge and then they found out the club couldn't move forward as they liked? I doubt it
  4. I've heard that for the rest of this season he's wageless but picks up £10k every time they win. He's also on £75k if they stay up. The two year contract starts next season, to cover 24/25 and 25/26 seasons which is only triggered if they stay up.
  5. When they go down they're fucked. The deferred payments on Brewster and Ahmedhodzic are due in full. Ahmedhodzic will probably be sold to pay what they owe. All the loanees will go back and won't return. Wilder, or whoever it is, won't have a bean to spend in the transfer window unless Poundland mortgages the club again. There's people I know that won't work with the club because they know it's a waste of time and effort
  6. Would that include bonuses or is that listed elsewhere?
  7. Pep gives him the freedom. Southgate, if he plays him, will set him up to be so rigid he might as well not be there. England need to persuade Pep to be the next manager if they want to see the best out of this current crop of players.
  8. Why the fuck does he still stand there? He's made his decision and the game has ended so the easiest way to diffuse the situation is to start walking towards the tunnel. If he gets harassed or stopped from walking then start with the cards but he invites the protestations by standing there.
  9. Ronnie Moore was on Radio Sheffield commentary and his post match summing up was very scathing. No fight, no bottle, no passion in a local derby. They looked like they were just there to pick up the wage. Not a team he recognised as a Rotherham team.
  10. That didn't have to be an open letter. The group must already have inroads and communication routes into the club through the volunteering work and "women at Wednesday" campaign. They could have asked for dialogue with the club, or even DR himself in order to gain an understanding and voiced concerns that way. Then gone 'public' if the club had brushed them off.

  12. Unused sub in the game he was tested at. The 'I didn't know I'd taken it' goes out the window because he opted against attending the mitigation hearing and opted to go straight to court thinking the independent test would clear him. His only chance of a reduction is is for his lawyers to cite previous lesser bans on players. Maradona only got 15 months for cocaine abuse.
  13. To use Mk's conjecture point. We've no idea if he's been offered a contract, let alone signed one. It's all online conjecture. We've no idea if he'll be found guilty. Only the prosecution side is being reported on because the defence hasn't had their time to present yet. But media sites are painting a damning, yet one sided, portrait of the events that people are already making their minds up about him on. I'll wait til the judge gives his verdict before deciding if it's right we should sign him or not.
  14. They need a more or less debt free club to make it work. Reading is in too deep, Blackpool isn't squeaky clean either. They also need a solid, sustainable, fanbase. Rotherham fit the bill nicey. It's known in certain circles that Stewart has been looking for a way out since Covid. He wants to move abroad but is like Chansiri in that he won't just sell to anyone and spoil his legacy. The first team train at Parkgate FC. The academy are split across 4 sites.
  15. Captained England and scored a World Cup winning hat trick in the 1994 World Cup under Graham Taylor. Since then has had award winning managerial stints at several clubs, become a property billionaire and now speaks philanthropicly on matters of racism and unjust manager sackings
  16. @BraddersTim you were fighting a losing battle in that Twitter thread the moment you typed your first word. Why did you put yourself through it? You got a reasonable answer out of the first one, around waiting til the season ends to determine the window, but as soon as you ask why they all piled on as soon as the window shuts he disappears and the other monkeys jump on. And the organ grinder will be on the background watching all and smiling. It's like that first series of Triggerpoint (god it's shit) where one bloke with an ulterior motive finds a set of disgruntled Muppets with a half baked ideology and half a brain cell between them and uses them for his own means while getting them to believe it's for their own cause and beliefs.
  17. Revisited the Battle of the Sty after reading that Monster Trucks link in the programme thread. You watch it on YouTube and Moore goes absolutely mental after Saffo nuts the Baggies player. He has to be held back by players from both sides. Maybe could have done with some of that on the sidelines in a few of our games, instead of that yappy little shit Smith trying to do it.
  18. Newcastle's goal was a result of classic flat line zonal defending. No one stepped out with Gordon and he was stood in acres before scoring
  19. Seriously mate. My boss lost his marriage over it and couple of porters refused to do nights (idiots) after the first night. It was like being on an 18-30s holiday
  20. @Chelters don't they play in the Roy of the Rovers kit? Seem to remember Gloucester got put in the North because Worcester refused to be moved out of the South. There was a massive controversy about it with the FA being threatened with legal action and all sorts. Then didn't they get moved into National South because they had to ground share with a Southern League team because the FA changed the ground rules? Then put back in North when the new ground was ready.
  21. Back in the 90s and early 2000s most of them (and visiting football teams) used to stay at the Swallow/Holiday Inn just off jnc33. We kept the leisure club and bar open for nearly every band/artist that played Arena. I've had a drink or 3 with most of the E Street Band (but not Springsteen) Doobie Brothers, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Strummer, Meat Loaf (who didn't touch a drop) to name a few. AC/DC booked the whole hotel out then didn't stop. Apparently took a helicopter to the sister hotel at Gateshead But the best nights of all were when Riverdance stopped for a week. Those girls were fucking insatiable
  22. It goes back to 1992 and the creation of the Premier League. All Football League first division clubs resigned in order to form the Premiership and this caused a restructure of the divisions below. This had a knock on effect into the Conference and below. The Isthmian league was the biggest reshuffle, combining divisions to create a more centralised North and South system. This completely screwed some teams up, Bishop's Stortford being one of them. Where you sit in the Pyramid system is also dependent on your closest affiliated FA. Wednesday come under Sheffield and Hallamshire and technically we'd sit under NE Counties in the system. Where that feeds up determines your promotion route through the pyramid but there's no straight line separating North and South. There's a border zone where you could get put in either depending on other relegation/promotion criteria. Hope this helps
  23. The old Debenhams building in Nottingham has a similar listing but the developers have got a plan through that keeps the front but completely guts out the inside for a multi purpose venue. A similar plan has been approved for the old court house and police station that will now be a hotel. Why can't this be the same for Cole Brothers?
