  1. Joey Barton wasn't happy I recall. Be less happy if Rebecca Welch was reffing though
  2. Devil's advocate part 2, its the Championship clubs that make the most player changes in Round 3 these days, many on here advocate it to focus on the league etc. The attendances are pretty poor comparatively. Chicken n egg maybe
  3. Playing devil's advocate, the issue you have is that the monetary value of the FA Cup comes from the TV deal, and that is driven by the big Premier League clubs. So in many ways the FA in going for that lucre have to sell the soul of the competition. My one hope is that a football regulator does come in, that the EPL clubs play hard ball still and get a deal forced upon them that is way worse than could have been negotiated. How about a 95% levy on the TV deal monies
  4. Great work on the page title change. I an just worried that in 50 years time it will be called Last Person Standing turn out the lights
  5. Bishop of Liverpool now demanding the retro closure of C4 Phil Redmond was the producer IIRC
  6. I must have missed that, when did he play for Wednesday out of interest
  7. Very sad to hear this. As others have noted he was around a long time on here, always had a decent opinion but generally respected yours. I am not sure if we were once introduced at an OO meet up - but can't say for sure
  8. I mean they still had summat daft like 33 shots which on paper dispels this unwillingness, but I totally agree. The number of times I watch them and I am going just fucking shoot, stick it in the box. Haaland is a decent striker, but looks a bit lost playing for them this year. In part he is a bit static at times, but equally it's like City want to score the perfect goal and he is a bit superfluous I
  9. Good news is that Arsenal and City fans can save their money 💰
  10. When as facts ever stopped The Daily Mail
  11. Problem is if they use a word such as "inadequate" its a bit ambiguous - phrases like "the stewards were well spaced" is a bit more woolly than saying "there were too few compared to the ground regulations required and SWFC were in breach" You can sue if they are stating an incorrect fact, you can't on a generalised opinion Tbh not even read the Mail article as it would wind me up, if you don't click they ain't getting owt
  12. I think their defence of utter stupidity would work
  13. As I navigate to this site on my phone, I get other "news" stories that I am guessing some algorithm selects. Usually about some impending snow event that never materialises. But there was a Wednesday one, referencing the Mail article that kid you not was headlined "Wednesday stadium deemed inadequate since Chansiri bought it in 2019". I mean I don't know where to start on de-constructing that argument
  14. I remember it like it was yesterday
  15. TV game at 5.15pm Up against an FA Cup semi Gonna be a tough choice
  16. I am sure he will find there is no racism in Turkey Yes I have admitted that in 1981 or thereabouts I probably joined in said racist chanting. Alongside about 50% of the Kop and the same in the North. I have never said it was acceptable and indeed as my teenage brain cells developed a bit more and gained a bit more education from teachers etc, but I would say more we signed black players racism of any overt nature was to my knowledge not heard from the terraces at Hillsborough. So these last few years it's more than disappointing it as crept back in, but online abuse is where the issue really is.
  17. As others have said the Diana effect really. Continuing the theme from another thread, if you grew up in an earlier era your understanding / outlook was shaped by your parents and older relatives. My Dad as an example was 10 at the end of the 2nd world war, perhaps too young but he had memories of the bombing and air raid shelters. My Mum and her cousin told great tales of the tanks rolling out of the factories in Chapeltown. Shit happens. Get on with it. That was the prevailing attitude, you learnt that approach but the public outpouring of grief in relation to Diana was very different. So it's probably right people talk about these events, but does it amplify it or ease it.
  18. To note my comments are nothing about the racism issue and his stand against it. It was more about him wanting to use the club as a stepping stone I was reacting to. But I don't want to spoil your assertions trying to infer racism by stating the reality of the situation. And yes growing up in the 70s and early 80s in a 99.5% white area of Sheffield there was overt racism, Hillsborough had overt racism. However us children of that era did call it out, the acceptance of black players came from our generation more than any other, the re-education of our parents came from our generation. But apart from that we are all still racists apparently.
  19. The point is all the concourses are "safe" if folk follow the instructions, are patient and go with the flow, don't congregate. But invariably that does not happen, particularly pre game and HT I mean at QPR getting to the turnstile was fine, then actually queued up the stairs, hardly moved at the top, luckily i was in Y6 the first gangway. Young un needed a piss - so he went in that entrance and walked down the rows to Y5 or even maybe Y4 to get further across to get to the toilet Of course as none of this is apparent from a journalist in the press box, they don't report on it I said after the game it was interesting to observe MK Jr - because he had previous little experience of "old school away ends"
  20. He can do as he pleases, I don't give a shit about any player whether they stay or go, if that be Bannan or anyone Like I say if he doesn;t want to play here for any reason, then fuck off. We'll recruit someone else. I don't buy the player loyalty, badge pointing shite for any player, they would fuck their own granny if they thought it would help progress their career
  21. Easy - no player is bigger than the Club
  22. Basically that, I am sure Pep might question himself for 5 minutes at times, but perhaps Palmer can turn it on for Chelsea with not a lot riding on it. Would he be trusted v Real Madrid in the last 8 of the Champions League, that is what Pep considers
  23. If we eventually knock that stand down then perhaps the story, in part, will move on. The King's Cross fire was horrendous, but the station was re-designed and its not your main thought if you go there. If you go on a ferry you don't think Zeebrugge, you don't catch a plane think Lockerbie. The legacy of Hillsborough was always more than the days event, but the fact the structure where the event occurred is still bar a few tweaks the same does not help it to fade
