  1. Just thinking, after that miss early doors last night, perhaps you should add some more points to Bannan's total instead of considering any deduction...
  2. If players have won appeals in the past and no points adjustments were made, best to be consistent and not do so this season. Have we won many appeals over the years? It's not something I keep track of. Surely we must've been successful, even just the once?!
  3. Just catching up with this Mr Cheat. Does Bannan get any downward points adjustment for winning his red card appeal?
  4. May have been a case of Lucky Star, obtaining that interview.
  5. Two cup exits within 24 hours. Must be some sort of record? Edit - I didn't realise they'd actually progressed despite their gubbing last night. Stupid competition.
  6. An injury time header from Hearts striker (for how much longer?) Lawrence Shankland earned Scotland their first point in 3 attempts away to Georgia. The spawny sporraners had to come from behind twice after their defence had been undone by a brace from a very good player whose (who's?) name I'm not going to even attempt to spell. The initial equaliser came from the boot of Scott McTominay, who produced a remake of an old classic - Seven goals for seven matches. Can't say I cared too much for his interview moans and groans afterwards though. Who does he think he is? Rodri?
  7. Raheem Sterling MBE was one of the top 10 players in the world a few years ago. Granted, he dipped a little towards the end of his time at Man City but these things happen. He's back on it again this season. His goals also took England to the Euro finals and he's netted plenty more in other competitions. But, yeah, he's 'wank'.
  8. You mean you didn't see the Quarter Finals on ITV2 last night? Admittedly, I only saw a wee bit while I was, er, flicking through the channels.
  9. No points won this season against non Yorkshire teams this season. No wins on a Saturday since 29 April. No wins at home on a Saturday since 22 April. Today's the day to smash the stats...?
  10. Apologies for the late reply young man. Even just lifting the shirt to show a message on a t-shirt has been frowned upon for a while now. I see the FA has "broken protocol" in deciding not to hit Diaz with a charge. I can't agree with this course of action (or inaction, as is the case). Me thinks the floodgates are now well and truly open. Define "exceptional circumstances". The 'whataboutery' tribe will be all over the next player who gets the book thrown at him. All hail consistency. No grey areas.
  11. Watched Luton vs Liverpool on MotD2 last night. How come both goalscorers weren't booked? Chong is the latest in a line of these types being ignored - it seems nobody gets cautioned for leaving the field of play and hugging the crowd nowadays. Diaz, on the other hand, displayed a message on a t-shirt under his actual playing shirt. Regardless of the subject matter, and sympathy where it's due, it's a yellow card. No grey areas. There was one a number of years ago. Think it may have been a Bolton player (against Arsenal?). He revealed a t-shirt dedicated to his late father (?) but the ref still did his job. Yes, it's unpopular, but it still has to be done as where do you draw the cut-off line? Dead cat / dog? Missing great Auntie / Uncle? Not a good weekend for a number of officials.
  12. Always enjoy these threads, even though it means I'm officially an auld **** who can remember back that far.
  13. I'm sure such an occurrence would also raise a comment or two on here nowadays ☺️
  14. Ruperts and Scunny? I'll need to put my thinking cap on for that one. Not indoors though, obviously 😉
  15. Falkirk? Don't the weird ***** remember Simon Stainrod, Chris Waddle, Burton O'Brien, Will Vaulks, etc.?
  16. Fair play. I only saw it on the Sky red button. No replays on there and haven't watched it back. That red button service really is poor. We're almost lucky if the lazy cameraman actually follows the action. Still didn't see anything of Dawson receiving treatment. Bloke in the gantry kept showing us nothing happening in the middle of the pitch. Not sure why it wasn't shown. Not as if he was dead. I presume Dawson's injury was a time wasting move while Diaby was off getting patched up? The lassie commentator appeared to miss that as well. Cannae get the staff nowadays.
  17. As has been said, the usual weaknesses rearing their ugly heads again last night. I don't buy into the 'low on confidence' theory. Players need to be extremely strong mentally. Anyone failing on this front should not be anywhere near the game. When your team concedes a goal, you double your efforts to put it right. You don't do a hand slap between team mates, ala Valentin and Iorfa, immediately after 2-0. Thought, as decent a strike as the free kick was, Dawson still has to save it. Can't wait for 'throw-in of the month' for October...
  18. Would be nice to at least gain a first league point against a non-Yorkshire team this season.
  19. Hopefully your greatest threat to life today will be in trying to avoid one of Ryan Christie's attempts at goal. Good luck.
  20. That was the day my auld man watched part of the game on TV and declared Liam Palmer looked a half decent player 😮
  21. An expected victory for Wales last night Mr Tylluan? Can't quite believe Scotland have actually qualified (albeit fucked up a top spot finish). Was thinking it would be typical of us to win the first 5 and still lose in the play offs 😯
  22. I would agree with that. None of the forward players offered anything much at all but Smith particularly annoyed me. Not sure why. Just looks so slow and off it. Gregory not much better. The game was 0-0 going on 0-0. Really lacking in quality across both sides. Yesterday was day 3 of a wee mini break for myself. Thursday at Owlerton (Sheffield won the top flight play off final in the speedway), Friday pottering about in the city centre, Hillsborough for the match and on my way back north this morning. Engineering works between Newcastle and Edinburgh means I'll get shunted home via Carlisle. An extra hour plus, although I'm in first class, so hopefully they'll provide an extra cup of tea!
