Skamp Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 (edited) I remember going to Scunthorpe for a friendly with @HoylandOwl and that jumped up little Hitler wannabe Lisa (was that her name? Clever little madam) and I ended up having ‘words’ with a guy with a Wednesdayite T shirt on. Can’t remember what it was about but the fact he was part of Wednesdayite was enough for a disagreement. @HoylandOwl took his lad as well. He was alright 👍 We got zapped by about 3 million little back bug things. Shit game as well iirc. Edited September 27, 2023 by Skamp 1 Quote

I do remember that disagreement, and the bug things. Oh the halcyon days of being arsed to go to pre season games!!!! 1 Quote

Sheffieldblue Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 I'm going to scunthorpe on Saturday to see the replayed match against buxton. Think the atmosphere might be " interesting". Still fucked off the first game was abandoned after 96 minutes with buxton 2-1 up. Quote

Everyone who’s recently read anything about the club and the chairman/owner etc will know it’s a shit show but, that… I hope they get out of the mire. It was a good little club who punched way above their weight not that long ago. It would be a shame to see it all go down the pan. 1 Quote

Chelters Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 The devil might be in the detail there. I believe he still owns the ground and that loans were owed to the parent company. The word ‘personally’ seems very deliberate there. Still great that they’ve got it done though, good luck to them. Quote
Tylluan Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 The owner before Hilton, Peter Swann, owns the ground. Sold it to himself for £1m then slapped a £5m valuation on it when Hilton tried to buy it off him. There's rumours that Alan Hardy is the money behind the take over and that Harness is just the front. Her own company certainly doesn't have the cashflow to deal with Scunthorpe's debts. Quote

mkowl Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 I think there is quite a bit of aggro at lower league level. Small town mentality, the belief there will be less cameras, police etc. Quote

Lovely to have a pint while you’re stood on the terrace but as always there are a few that think they can take drinking but can’t. Quote

You don't usually see it at Farsley though, mainly because the average crowd is 600-800. Scunny fans were definitely making the most of being a large following at a small club.
