  1. Sounded like it would keep him out for a few days, rather than writing off his season.
  2. Happy birthday T. Hope it’s a good one.
  3. If the weather’s decent I might go. Haven’t been yet, despite living down the road for the past 9 years.
  4. Thanks for your contribution over the week. It’s good to have people offering counter arguments and being prepared to listen to opposing views. What I would say on DC is that probably 90% of people are critical of him on some front. On this forum I think most people are also recognising a change in approach from him and so are prepared (for now) to put his mistakes in the past and look forward. We have debated ticket prices for years. Yes, we’d like them to be cheaper and for the average fan, the prospect of £40+ for some games for an adult ticket is a more than we would want to pay. That said, we have largely rationalised away prices (we’re not the cheapest, we’re not the most expensive), deadlines for renewal both in timing and length and other things as necessary evils to try to give us a competitive squad. We know his communication style leaves something to be desired but most of us aren’t offended nor bothered by it. We don’t see it as that important. What most of us care about are the sustainability of the club financially and on the footballing side. It could rightly be said that Chansiri failed historically on both fronts. We have been subject to penalties due to fucking up the ground sale and that’s on him. We also chased glory from day 1, expecting to get promoted to the Prem and for us not to have to worry about FFP rules. Again, Chansiri takes some of the blame (though not all, as we were 90 minutes from the Prem and in the playoffs the year after but bottled it both times. You cannot argue he didn’t back his manager). But you can argue that our approach was short term thinking. When it failed and we were eventually relegated, we had to use short term thinking again to build a team to get promoted. We have never really been building for the future. This season that has changed. We have bought decent young player who could bring resale income, not just signed players in their 30s. We’ve got one of the best managerial talents there is. He is happy here, he is loving it. He is building something. There are other signs that DC is learning, as AB has listed. I acknowledge that DC is changing things for the better in the areas that matter to me and hope that continues. I don’t fool myself that he is perfect but I do think he genuinely cares about the club. I also think he would sell if he found someone who could take the club to the next level and do a better job than him. Anyway, good to have you here. Have a great evening.
  5. Rumour is they’re appointing Lennon on Monday.
  6. I think I still have a few Cheats and some Boddle ones on the attic.
  7. Yesterday was better attended than anticipated. 25k Wednesday vs 22k at similar games earlier in the season. Plymouth I’m going for 25k, it being a night match but a winnable one.
  8. I see Chair has been sentenced to 1 year in jail. He’s been a decent player for them this season.
  9. I thought the same. There was a period of around ten seconds where he had 4 chances to blow his whistle but he let play go on. Refreshing to see.
  10. Whilst it’s great to see Dom on his way back, he’s a confidence player and usually needs a good 6 or 7 games to get back to his best. He’d only just got there this season before he got injured.
  11. Just keep bringing those results and the contract will follow.
  12. He’s our main hope in this game. Hopefully we’ve got his contract tied up for another season.
  13. What would be the point if you simply dismiss things as “made up facts”? You’ve proven my point already and rested your case twice.
  14. Some of the evidence. The evidence you choose to accept that supports your position.
  15. They are not interested in those. Their campaign has one goal, to get rid of Chansiri. They don’t want to see nor acknowledge signs that things might be improving. Chansiri will be blamed for anything negative, any positive changes (such as the appointment of Rohl, the change to signing younger players and such) will never be credited to him. It is wholly disingenuous in its nature. Their contradictory stances (eg complaining that we received points deductions, whilst complaining that we don’t don’t spend enough. Complaining that ticket prices are too high but again wanting us to be spending more to attract players etc) highlight this perfectly. They want Chansiri out at all costs, regardless of the consequences nor how they go about achieving this. I speak of the chief protagonists here, not those of the younger generation that are understandably frustrated that throughout their time watching Wednesday, we have been largely wank. Buy we’ve been wank for 25 years, under 4 or 5 chairmen / owners. I think they just want some good times and are swept up in the whole thing. I think we’re realistic on this forum. I don’t know anyone who blindly supports the chairman nor thinks that his time here has been a great success. Most would welcome someone else having a go and believe that DC himself would hand over the reins to the right person. We just aren’t trying to chuck the baby out with the bath water.
  16. I agree. During my time watching Wednesday there have been odd occasions where the atmosphere has been incredible (Kaiserslautern, Chelsea semi, Wycombe, Peterborough, Brighton and such) but on the whole, we are a set of fans that is largely motivated to sing or cheer at home by the actions of those on the pitch. I don’t believe the atmosphere has changed much throughout my 40 years watching.
