  1. He was with them from 19 October 2015 to 31 May 2016, so it must have been when we beat them 2-0 at home in January 2016. Hooper got both our goals.
  2. Club Statement https://www.swfc.co.uk/news/2023/january/club-statement/?fbclid=IwAR0J0KAuKcg557XF2_5W8Qm_IIkubC7rRyKyJ--FH808p0pyhwfQgWn-c-I
  3. David Batty was similar - had no interest in football whatsoever.
  4. Just think back to Gilles De Bilde. I think I’d still be tempted to give him a slap even if I bumped into him today, over 20 years since he left. Even though he’d probably kick my head in! 😂
  5. He’s going backwards by being here, so probably best for his career (and us) for him to go back to Forest.
  6. End of the day we all have to avoid the ‘elephant in the room’ don’t we? We all know what made a massive contribution to events that unfolded that day, but of course we’re not allowed to mention that are we? Fuck ‘em! I might have a wander over to Twitter to find this Craig Hope clown!
  7. “Sky Sports News has contacted Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle and South Yorkshire Police for comment.” I hope we tell them to feck off. A total non-story. There’s congestion far worse than that at the back of every stand in the country at half-time. There’s no fencing, the terracing is now all seater, what the hell could have realistically happened? Only thing I might comment on is stewarding, if it was lacking, but that’s about it. And as others have said, look at some of the other grounds in the country. From now on the club should just say balls to visiting clubs with large followings and simply keep the lower terrace closed.
  8. I heard a few things (excuses) about that Arsenal side after we’d played them. Some were saying they played the kids (the average age of the Arsenal side was higher than ours) whilst others were saying they were inexperienced. I think I added up, including Petr Cech, that their back 5 had over 200 international caps between them. Not bad ‘inexperience’ is that! Yet we battered them. I happened to see the Arsenal highlights the other day and as a side we were far more polished than we were versus Newcastle. But the gulf in class (and squad cost) between ours and Newcastle’s side was far greater, yet we more than matched them physically and mentally, and we weren’t too far behind them skill wise, for the full game. For those reasons I’d say that the result against Newcastle was the most impressive, but from a footballing point of view, unsurprisingly, I’d say the team v Arsenal showed more quality with the ball. Both games will live forever in the memory though!
  9. Just brilliant Wednesday, absolutely f*cking brilliant!!! Yep, you can argue that their finishing let them down, but to a man we stood up to them and we worked our knackers off. Some big displays out there tonight. Byers, Vaulks, Smith, Windass for his finishing - and then there was McGuinness, my god we are going to miss him. But they all put a shift in and even Moore played it right but taking Dele off when he did. Tonight is one of those rare nights as a Wednesday supporter when you feel 10 feet tall, when the hair stands up on the back of your neck, and when you buzzing from head to toe. So proud of them!
  10. Windass being clever. Slowing the game down and giving the lads a breather. Thank fook we’ve no VAR today! 😂
  11. Byers and Vaulks are like terriers in the midfield, but when we win the ball we don’t know what to do with it - usual problem of not being able to string two passes together. But they’re battling hard and are giving Newcastle a good game!
  12. Good performance today and great to see us on the front foot. But let’s not kid ourselves as to how poor and injury depleted Cambridge were. As has been said though, you can only beat what’s put in front of you and we certainly did that, and I hope it acts as a good run out, spirit raiser and confidence booster for some of our fringe players. We won’t have an easier game than that this season though, and it was good to see other results go our way as well - the big win also boosts our goal difference column, which is a further positive given how tight things are at the top of the table. Enjoyed the game and it was nice not to be chewing on my finger nails with nerves (or dropping to sleep) for a change. Let’s hope there’s more to come in 2023! 😊
  13. Must be getting a new manager then! 😊
  14. I don’t know what the fuck to think anymore. I look at the first XI Moore picks and more often than not think WTF! Even tonight I questioned Mighten getting a starting position, and, to a lesser extent, Paterson (although admittedly he did ok). Our formation and style of play, when I can work it, continues to be shite to watch, our passing is still abysmal, and there are times that the opposition seem to dominate the game and walk all over us. Yet they don’t seem to capitalise on it and we remain difficult to score against, and even more so to beat. I’m still not convinced Moore is the man to take us up, but I can’t really put forward a strong argument for getting shut either given our league position and current results - but I’m not enjoying how we are playing and am never certain we are going to get a result until the final whistle goes.
  15. Probably the second greatest sportsman to walk the planet after Muhammad Ali, and greatest to ever play the game of football. RIP Pele - an irreplaceable talent and human being!
  16. Guilty as charged m’lud! 😂 Fell asleep early second half, woke up when Rooney was sent off.
  17. Hopefully we are going to go for it as that’s not a convincing back line, albeit as good a one as we can probably field.
  18. "The biggest thing for anyone in this industry is consistency. We're on a run of games and we want to continue that consistency." Is he mental? Last 3 games are the most recent part of that “run of games” - and we’ve been utter shite!
  19. Very sad news. Not just a great player but a true gentleman as well. RIP George Reginald Cohen MBE.
  20. I’m getting pissed off with this now. Let’s be fair we were lucky to get a point at Exeter and we’ve been lucky to get a point today. The first touch of some our players is a joke, crossing is abysmal, set pieces are shite, passing to one another is hit and miss. Tactics and systems, you tell me! It’s fucking shit and Moore isn’t changing anything. It’s the same pedestrian garbage every game. I thought without Bannan today we might have changed tactics or mixed things up a bit, but it looked just as shite as normal. I try to back Moore even though I’ve never been convinced he’s the man to take this club forward - and the last 3 performances are taking me close to calling for his head again. What’s being served up on the pitch is just not good enough!
