One of mates says he was down Rotherham on Saturday before game, obviously no ticket, probably turned up at a lot of away games with no ticket over years.

You can bet he still got in ground at some point though, especially years ago.

Yep he was there was in pub with him.

  2. It’s knocked me this news - known the lad for 30 plus years. Knew he’d had a an accident at weekend and knew it weren’t  good but being told today of the news and am upset.

He was no angel, he was a bloody nuisance but he was our nuisance.

I’ve been speaking to mates all evening about him and we’re all rocked. I have 100’s of memories good bad and some just bloody hilarious!

He’d of been in his element tomorrow night out on the streets. Many ways he lived for Wednesday.

Lots are convinced he coined the WAWAW saying

Not often you’d say this about Ricky but I were fortunate to bump into him Saturday ! Just a shame I’ll never see him again - he was a good if annoying  mate to more than just me!

    RIP

  3. And the latest post by the 1867 proves their focus is on themselves and not the club! They are gutted the accounts are not worse!

Refuse to recognised DC is turning the club around from ground up - they are just so entitled and expect a profitable club whilst paying the cheapest match tickets in football!

Also as we are a deadline club for accounts can’t help but think DC got these out a day b4 the next protest on purpose!

Depends on away support, didn't seem to be many there so could be a few thousand more home fans I suppose

Yep that was my point, poorly made. Basically it was a smaller away following then most games and our extra home support witnessed us just above the average - I estimated 3k based on 22k season ticket holder - 1k Bristol and the difference being those taking advantage of the deduction.

When Watford pitched up with about 500 attendance was something like 22,600 and there were plenty missing from our season ticket base but they count season ticket regardless now.

    Saw this

    IMG_8455.thumb.jpeg.8fdf665a924ced4bcca86cb8689ecf40.jpeg

    that was pre Preston away.

    PNE 5,341

Southampton 2,800 (est per same source)

    Huddersfield 2,331 allocated and sold

    Leicester 3,255 allocated and sold

    Millwall 2,719 (2900 allocated)

Average is now 2,585, imagine if we had a half decent season!!

    Last 6 away

    Rotherham 2.1k

    Ipswich 2k

    Boro 2k apparently

    Qpr 3k

    Sunderland 2.5k

Blackburn 7k (doubt they offer it if they are dragged into the battle to stay up)

Any chance of us getting 4K at Sunderland you reckon?

  6. But he didn’t back Danny!! We didn’t get a striker in the January window and we left it too late to get one in!

He’s never backed Rohl that’s why he’ll walk .. oh that and his full former Red bull management team which of course was the invisible investors from red bull doing!

And ticket prices are too much - but a drop yesterday witnessed  only an extra 3k turn up with us slightly above the season average

  7. Great result for us!

Pol is really shinning now and the recent news focus he’s had explains why time is required when picking up foreign players.

One thing to add I thought it was obvious Bannan had a bit of reservation about his play today - he was clearly playing with the knowledge one more yellow knocked him out of the next game!
We need Bazza for the next 2 games without a shadow of doubt.

I’ve rightly or wrongly baked in a loss against Leeds  in my head and am praying for maximum points in the next 2!

  8. I’d tend to agree that the facts of D.C. ownership  have been so misconstrued in recent times and such a frenzy has been reached it’s hard to apply rational thought over what has happened!

I agree with the Brexit hill debate hint if am honest.

I have settled happily with rationale that the successes of “smaller clubs” have in part come about due to lesser pressure from pent up expectation whilst the success of “larger clubs” have come about due to significant funds spent on a gamble that paid off!

I 100% know D.C. has made big mistakes - I’ve settled on 3 .. a) not selling players b) cocking up the sale of the ground c) the stupid outburst this season re 2 million

The rest have been run of mill management of the club errors some by our own making some by others.
The worst falsehood is the idea that the North as the owners name because he’s arrogant (he maybe) but it was done to justify extra investment just like D Taxi!

Maguire on X saying our 10 year accumulated losses up to 2022 are 132m - not all under Chansiri of course and offset by the "profit" on the stadium sale.

So my argument is more that we should be better placed in the pyramid after that funding. But it's all conjecture, if it wasn't for Chansiri would we have spent as much. Or if someone with better day to day business management skills and that money, what would be the outcome.

The point that gets overlooked is that Chansiri could have spent on the infrastructure of the Club and not breach FFP - but the stuff he did spend funds are ie the pitch and scoreboard were both looking like it's not been sustained. Yes the weather, but really how many other clubs can't use the training ground if its cold or wet. So they train on the pitch.

The Club may hopefully be instigating some better decisions on player recruitment and the coaching team. But why only now, some of us were suggesting this in 2015.

Looking at the tweet 37 million pre Chansiri losses and a 24 million chunk linked to Covid years?

Don't expect to spend big expect to build year on year like we were before he came in.

We always have a few out of contract we have a rebuild every summer there's no long term plan at all.

As for the Orlando player, we were never really in the running for him, if we were there would have been other strikers on our radar but we ended with a left back and winger. Surprising how it was the same day season tickets went on sale.

I cant see how we are changing things.

Seriously you going back 9 years and think we were building year on year? You’ve proved my earlier point.
DC inherited a club with empty coffers and sadly for us FFP came into play just when we needed to spend big!

The Orlando player as per the athletic article was sat in Sheffield and Blackburn won it because in part a range of stats were presented to him about chances created alongside the fact Blackburn were higher in the league.

I have heard the rumours and it such examples that warp the anti Chansiri mob - I.e. like after the Barnsley defeat!

Never said he doesn't have the funds to support the club said he doesn't have the funds to take us forward.

I did yes, a striker Cardiff didn't want, a winger that can't get near Leeds squad and an up and coming young keeper. All loan players that we most likely won't have next season, your point is?

And there you go! Your expectation of the owner is spend big if not go!

Loan players make more financial sense for a club teetering on the edge!

We have a few out contract that allows a rebuild and restructure on relegation.

Ugbo, the striker we signed right at the start of window and then complained we had done bothering despite also securing a keeper right at the front!

In one the slowest window yet seen where clubs are looking at FFP RULES and hunkering down?

Ugbo as gone to club where we have 3 fellow French players in making him probably a far happier player. Our head of recruitment knew him from his Cardiff days.

The player we went to get was a long term investment from Orlando not an immediate fix.

We’ve signed 3 players this year who could allow us to cash in for a few million.  The first half the year two those players were deemed awful by the anti Chansiri mob.

We are slowly adjusting things do not happen overnight unless bought by a Saudi esk cash - and even then the rules mean it could be  boom and bust again if your not lucky.

  12. If we stay up it will be huge for the club and our short term future.

The protest was fine last night - but ultimately we need to be sold for their demands to be achieved.

Those who are not pro Chansiri or anti Chansiri appreciate this fact and the realities of this fact - I find a real mix in the anti Chansiri mob, openly racist, nationalistic, ignorant of the history of the last 9 years and then they are some who expectations of success are measured.

I get that, but throwing the opposite view.

The concern that in order to be competitive in January the only option was to raid next year's season ticket sales

If the rug was pulled by credit card companies what does that say about our credit worthiness

Are we in such a rush for money that we can't test new payment systems. We have what 10 day windows for the best price.

I mean there are plenty of red flags really.

My issue has always been (and Lee Strafford started it) robbing season ticket revenues for tomorrow, today. In the end you are probably in the shit. We rightly mock our neighbours for hawking TV money to Macquarrie.

Like this chap said on the call, the reality is we simply want our Club to be well run, competitive, on par with the likes of Coventry not way behind them.

I don’t disagree by over 10,000 renewals and Pay Pal are happy to underwrite, us no mean feet. I suspect in absence of survival we will probably get 14k season ticket holders now.

On the Coventry thing though they are where we were in the first 2 years of DC ..

They recently hovered lower mid table in championship until last season push into playoffs - fuelled by quality players who they sold for 37 million and they spent all but about 7 million this season and are still not  in playoff positions - they will if not promoted this year they have a 3rd bite of the cherry  because of their trading! We ran out of a 3rd attempt because of DC biggest the lack of trading! Lets not pretend Coventry are all that!

  14. Logic suggests that as a club our financial profile is poor not helped by the owner plea for 2 million this season!

Like a lot of club at the moment alongside current economic woes we are hardly financially low risk !

Thus our existing merchant has probably balked at allowing credit cards for this season ticket window scuppering our December plans.

Weve found a merchant willing to offset the risk in this case PayPal. It allows online card payment and indeed as some wonderful instalment options making it fan friendly  - we took a while to get underwritten clearly this was the delay!!

(I suggest at this point DC short term income plan to fund transfer may have impacted - I might be wrong!)

However the problem with PayPal is offline infrastructure isn’t quickly installed and set up, tested or designed with probably compatible with our systems! So in our rush we went into sales with the stipulation that it had to be cash / cheque as out in store merchant were not willing to take the risk. Or PayPal wanted it indeed the lion share of payment through their system so we’re trying to force more online payments.

Our local Journo never bothered to correct the rumours flying around about not being able to use CC which as fuelled alongside poor result anger.

  15. Now trying peddle the fact we are unable to take credit card payments as evidence we will go bust … ignoring the fact you can use credit card via pay pal and al need to do is set up account if you don’t have one.

Suspect the fees for PP are more attractive than the current supplier thus the restriction on the paying in person  and suspect we’ve not got the time to install the offline solution yet.

  16. And another protest planned now due to season ticket prices.

Whether you have agreed with us up to this point or not, it is now time to come together as a fanbase. The latest prices show the chairman hasn’t and isn’t willing to learn.

Once again, the club has proven to be out of touch and shown little care for our supporters the lifeblood of everything great about Wednesday.

Protest details for the Birmingham game will be announced this week.

    It’s simple, you know.

Chansiri sell up and just go!

There’s quite a bit of chatter across social Media and beyond that DC and DR have had a disagreement it seems. Whether it’s true or not; who knows, I’d like it not to be that is for sure.

Stems from a couple of rumours .. like when DC nearly collapsed our season at Barnsley, Byers having cancer & then all the claims and counter claims about DC and DM - when trusty is spoken people complained about knowing.

But you would hope it’s not true - but I can help think in the summer the same was said when few signings had come in.

  18. So the group is starting issue threats due to the lack of activity in transfers.

They are now actively spreading the rumour Rohl is going to walk.

Got me thinking if Rohl walks due to lack of transfer activity - I don’t see how that reflects well on Rohl - it’s not like he expected large scale investment is it? Or would it be the chairman lied to me regards investment levels?

Anyway there 9 days left of the window  and one league game in between it - still plenty of time and not so risky in between and in the summer the signing came in later not earlier. The stirring up of fans base off the back of defeats seem to their modus operandi.

Oh and clubs like Derby are playing on the fan base split to pressure the club into giving players away re Smith
