HoylandOwl Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 Here we go then, another match thread. So, I'll start it with Plymouth's boss, Steven Schumacher talking about the Wednesday. Quote
HoylandOwl Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 Lee Gregory and George Byers should be fit enough to be included in the match day squad for the game, is the talk today. Quote
Paul from Wisewood Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 for some bizarre reason, decided last night to go, so heres to a 20 hour day, getting picked up tomorrow at 7am 1 Quote
M42Owl Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 If fit enough, I’d play Gregory, even if it means resting him on Saturday. If fit enough, I’d have Byers on the bench. Vaulks has done enough to retain his place. Although there may be a case for strengthening the middle by playing Byers, Vaulks and Bannan, and dropping Windass or Smith to accommodate. Quote

We'd lose too much by dropping Windass for anyone, both in terms of his abilityh and the shape. We're in good form with Windass playing as a proper 10 If Byers comes in, its to be for one of Bannan or Vaulks Quote
HoylandOwl Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 It will be for Vaulks if he does. However, I don’t think he should be dropped. Arguably the best player the last couple of games. 1 Quote
HoylandOwl Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 McGuinness could be back too by all accounts. Quote
KrolMong Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 I would only change Wilkes for Gregory. Midfield three and back five should stay the same. Quote
Tylluan Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 Wilks offered slightly more pace up front and allowed us to go more direct at times. Gregory is a more intelligent player but Wilks worked well on the Port Vale beach so I'd stick with him. Quote

Owling_Wolf Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 They'll be muscle tired after running for 95 mins in soft sand. Might be a few changes, depending on who's available. Quote
HoylandOwl Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 Niall Ennis will be back amongst the squad for Plymouth tonight, but out goes Macauley Gillesphey. It says so HERE Quote
KrolMong Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Tonight is all about Bannan and Windass. They have to get hold of the game by the scruff of the neck and dominate the ball. If they do, we have a very good chance of winning given the options we have up top. Quote

Mark Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 We definitely need an extra man in midfield tonight. They are very athletic in the middle and we need legs I'd be bringing in FDB for Wilks Quote
Andyben Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Let's play to our strengths, not theirs. Two up top with Windass behind Quote
HoylandOwl Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 How Plymouth plan to stop Bannan https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/plymouth-argyle-plan-to-quieten-barry-bannan-revealed-ahead-of-clash-with-real-big-sheffield-wednesday-3866125 Quote

HoylandOwl Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 So, Gregory on the bench, no Byers, no McGuinness. Quote
M42Owl Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Bakinson for Wilks is understandable. He needs to be on his game: bit lackadaisical at times and caught in possession. Would have liked for Gregory to start. Quote
Tylluan Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) The nature of this game probably means it's a step too early for Byers and McGuinness. I wouldn't have dropped Smith or Windass for Gregory but he's a great addition to have on the bench. I'd have kept Wilks on the bench though, at the expense of Mighten. Iorfa can cover a wing back role, with Hunt, and I think Wilks offers more up top than Mighten. Edited October 4, 2022 by Tylluan 1 Quote
KrolMong Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 No issues with that team. Nice balance to the midfield with Bannan as the 10 and Bakinson and Vaulks sitting. A fair amount of mobility and height too from set pieces with Ihiekwe, Heneghan, Smith and Bakinson. Plus options from the bench both attacking and defending. 1 Quote
Mark Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Happy with that. Bit odd Wilks not on bench but he's at his most effective coming off the flanks so maybe not game for him Quote

MAL Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 WTF Harry Potter doing the Half Time talks for Plymouth Good job Harry Potter is shit at Wizadry. Bannan is the wizard around here thank you. Quote
mkowlthesexynewversion Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Agree doing fairly well, though we lost a bit of attacking threat that last 10 mins, seemed to coincide with the Bannan injury. But proper ebb and flow Quote
Owling_Wolf Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Lovely night, good pitch, fantastic crowd and a smashing game so far. Tremendous start by them, then mostly us until Bannan got hurt. They are like lightning on the break. No.9 very impressive. Quote
Mark Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 We're playing well. Vaults is having s good game, he is picking up most of the loose ball. There number 9 is s bit useful although Stockdale had to do better with goal Quote
MAL Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Iorfa on & James off James must be injured after the foul Quote
MAL Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Unlucky again Silly twat doing the hee haw to Bannan. How the fuck do they manage to get out of bed in a morning. Muted Quote
