  1. I started going to the games in the 70s, so there wasn't much to cheer about down at Hillsborough until Big Jack came along and signed the likes of TC etc. So my first football idol was Kenny Dalglish.
  2. The Derby odds just seem strange, but then again we were fancied last season in some quarters even though there were so many gaps in the squad. I think the Dingles and Peterboro will be up there in the same was as the mini pigs and Wycombe were last season. Im thinking the following will be vying (/have a go at) for the top 6-10 in this order ourselves pompey ipswich wycombe dingles mk dons peterboro oxford Plymouth derby
  3. I'm not wishing they get a points deduction particularly, I'm more concerned about EFL apply their own rules and edicts consistently - I don't perceive that to be tinpot. I mean EFL are tinpot as we know and expecting Derby to get what should be coming to them isn't. As Ty said, EFL gave a deadline, and whilst no football supporter wants their club to be put in such a precarious position and be penalised disproportionately, I feel any club that has been in admin for so long has to have some kind of sanction even if it isn't a points deduction.
  4. I agree, mostly because of the series of injuries he had over that 3 years. It could have been different for our Championship relegation season if he'd been available more.
  5. Every L1 should complain to the EFL if those cvnts don't get some kind of penalty. 6pts deduction at least!
  6. I know AB, but not every decision is expected to be popular, sometimes decisions have to be made that are “in the national interest’ and not just to keep the current Govt or dare I say it just to keep the PM popular with clique in his party. Maggie T was despised by many and I can understand why. However I genuinely think she thought she was doing things that were in the national interest and wasn’t having her strings pulled by anyone - unlike the present incumbent
  7. Briefly met the bloke when he was at a charity run I did in York. RIP Harry
  8. Errr don’t know what your thinking but let’s just say I didn’t vote for Corbyn - unelectable. Interesting though how some of the things he suggested have actually been implemented by this Govt! Im not someone who feel the need to follow only Labour, Tories, Libdems etc, I actually look at their policy and whether I feel they will represent me. I think it’s a gross generalism to say all MPs are sell serving but unfortunately there are too many that are, the current PM being a prime example - using a populist mandate to win, which would be fine (to an extent) if it wasn’t followed by some actions that undermine democracy and the role of Govt. I largely agree with ECO re strikes etc. I have spent most of working life in the private sector with a few stints in public bodies, usually leaving for reasons most people do around career, pay etc. However, I know that most of my current colleagues haven’t had a proper pay rise in 10yrs despite been asked to do more and with less. I think it has come to a point for some that enough is enough. The pay award for NHS staff for example, after what they have been through is insulting to the extreme. No wonder so many are leaving. Which will mean the vast majority will get a poorer service. I don’t know but I have anecdotal knowledge similar to what I have seen where I work that recruiting people is near on impossible because the whole package isn’t attractive. The pensions that once existed are no longer offered, they have been diluted year on year, meaning anyone starting in the public sector now doesn’t get the same as someone that started say 15year ago. So, yes I will no doubt leave because I probably can and many others are already which will mean either the public services people come to expect won’t be there or they will actually be outsourced and actually cost more. I know this for a fact, it’s already happening where I work.
  9. I’m ambivalent to unions. It many years ago when I worked for a Council engineering dept I was a member of Unison, it was deemed as the done thing but I soon stopped membership after there was a strike about something which didn’t seem relevant to me (at the time). I can’t say I’ve knowingly had to deal with Union leaders but I have had to deal with Unions and similar bodies in various jobs I’ve done and I’ve found the people OK, they were usually reasonable and trying to negotiate or protect people they were representing. Anyway, when you are dealing with rats like this Govt is maybe you need a snake to represent you. Which snakes have you had to deal with, to know what they are like?
  10. You can see the potential attraction of talking the Derby job. Could be seen as a clean slate to take it where you want to, even if the first year could be a struggle to get the players you want, as per DM last season. A lot could hinge on how the new owner “sells the club” to prospective managers. As for Warnes comments previously, whilst I agree that could indicate his feelings- that was also the old ownership etc
  11. Yes that’s true. Although what if he were to resign etc. isn’t that how other managers have got around or etc. Would the EFL be able to impose a restriction there, or would they be infringing other workers legal rights. As for out of work managers with a track record of getting teams promoted, it’s not a long list.
  12. Stand corrected I thought they were American??? I thought I’d read it somewhere I’m obviously been reading the wrong stuff! Maybe there is a chance they’d look at Warne. Can’t imagine he’ll be on huge wages. Whilst Warne has had his health issues, maybe there comes a point when he’ll want to prove himself with a “bigger club”
  13. That would nicely top of the mini pigs week. I suspect it won’t happen though. You know what these new foreign owners are like, style over substance. if Ashley were to taker over I could see him going for Warne.
  14. Whatever your views on the RMT strike I’m loving Mick Lynchs “debates” with the various Tory ministers as per Question Time and Newsnight. Particularly calling the slimey twats that never answer a question properly “liars”, which they are and are being proven to be time after time. As a current public sector work (probably not for much longer) I suspect more strikes are to come. It could be a longer summer for the wankers running this country
  15. Wouldn’t it be such a shame if we play Derby last game of the season and be parading the L1 championship whilst they face another season in L1 or worse.
  16. Anybody else been getting a Nationwide BS advert coming up on your social media with that well endowed L**ds TV lass on it. I have no idea what she’s saying I just seem to get distracted.
  17. The US owners won’t be happy until football mimics their shit games
  18. Scotland squad? Can’t be arsed to look but it’s possible isn’t it
  19. I can't be arsed to do the full predictions but I think we'll get the dingles early in the season, probably at home. I'm hoping for Bolton at home on BD and last game away at Port Vale when we lift the champions trophy.
  20. Come on EFL either just take their registration of em or relegate them to L2.
  21. I'm happy with Hunt staying. I have to say though I was definitely not sure about his first few appearances last season but once he got fit he shouldn't have been dropped for any games.
  22. Is that a NewBalance kit? Looks alright.
