  1. It’s a lovely ground wasted on a town that doesn’t give a shit about football.
  2. I know what you mean about Bannan. I was quite content when he went off for Byers.
  3. Oh yeah and the ref again was completely anti Wednesday. Not sure what we’ve done to deserve it/
  4. Comfortable first half, could have been 2 up. The second half performance was mainly due to having no one to hold the ball up front. Gregory or Smith in and it would have been different. Stockdale was excellent, Heneghan also a lot better, Ihiekwe and Palmer both decent as well. What a player Fizz is turning into
  5. Iorfa would be better as the centre of the three as he can cover round the back of the other two, which is probably where he does his best defensive work.
  6. @HoylandOwlApparently the ‘keeper feigning injury and everyone going over for a team talk’ on about 70 minutes is a standard Cowley tactic. Did you notice this from your time at Lincoln?
  7. I don’t think Stockdale could do much about any of the goals yet somehow he just didn’t inspire confidence. Ihiekwe was the best of the back 3 today, Heneghan and Iorfa I thought looked a bit shaky even when we were playing well. Byers was outstanding first half but the moment he got booked changed the game as he suddenly stopped putting his foot in and we couldn’t get the ball back. Gregory was great, Windass not so much and should have been taken off second half. I had a feeling we were going to be good going forward but shaky at the back. Hopefully the GK and defence just need time to settle down. But I agree that after the first half it didn’t feel good to lose control of the game like that in the second half. The ref? Was actually quite favourable to us in the first half but definitely not in the second half when it mattered. There was one moment where Heneghan outmuscled a defender in their box and the ref pulled him up for absolutely nothing. As last season we have more possession but concede more free kicks. Free kick to us every 4.5 minutes of possession, free kick to them every 2.1 minutes, draw your own conclusion. Loved Cam Dawson’s cameo in midfield in the second half. According to the scoreboard operator anyway, think he’d been on the piss at half time.
  8. If one of my clients made a claim against me I wouldn’t want to give him any more of my services, but more to the point I doubt he would want them. No sympathy for this guy at all, no matter how much he needed the money he didn’t have to take the club he claims to support to court.
  9. This is the big problem the womens’ game has in my opinion. it is growing at a time when there are a few super rich clubs who can pump money into it. Even more so than the mens game there is a huge disparity in the level between the top teams and the rest. As we saw last night there is a good standard and level of entertainment right at the top but you don’t have to go far down for that level to drop dramatically. And without that competitive edge that runs right through the divisions it will never have the same appeal. Shame really.
  10. Reading are still under embargo so having to cobble a squad together. Their fans are expecting a bad season by all accounts. And Paul Ince is in charge.
  11. Seems to be a bit of noise on Twitter about us signing Roofe but not sure there’s anything really behind it.
  12. Adam Green, left back we had on loan.
  13. Argentina 0 England 1 at the Sapporo Done World Cup 2002. Beckham scored a penalty after an Owen dive. Brazil 2 England 1 at Shizuoka Stadium quarter final. The infamous Ronaldinho lobbing Seaman from miles out (Ahem) Czech Republic 0 Greece 1 Euro 2004 semi final in Porto. Got tickets at below face value from a tout who couldn’t get rid of them.
  14. A good test of what he’s worth : if Hull wanted him, would you swap him for Wilks?
  15. Will be the first team he’s been at where he can spell the name.
  16. Could announce the new kit and then offer some packages e.g home and away shirt plus last season’s home for £100.
  17. I think what rankles with clubs that survive administration is that they will have got away without paying all their bills. If they had paid those bills then logically they would have had less to pay on the football side, meaning they would have had a worse team earlier. But they have been relegated and, although it pains me to say it, I think they’ve had their punishment and should be allowed to move on. Let’s beat them on the pitch.
  18. Didn’t do much at Cheltenham last season, can’t see it tbh.
  19. I have performed my own study comparing SWFC’s finances with those of Derby County and the teams that play in my local Sunday league. On the basis of my analysis I can declare a hot exclusive that Sheffield Wednesday are the most financially successful team not only in Europe, but the entire known universe. Someone email the Star quickly before someone else snaps this up.
  20. According to the local press here, Wade Elliott will be taking over at Cheltenham after Duff went to the Dingles. Previously in their coaching staff, and of course one of the many players to score against the Owls for two different clubs. Sad to say but I would have them as one of the four to go down this season.
  21. So is Billy Connolly and he’s not there! Just thinking if they played together somewhere else? Derby maybe?
  22. Maguire left us before Bannan joined so what’s the connection there?
  23. Unfortunately his worst form was in his final season and a bit and that’s most fresh in the memory. At his best he was a good player but could never get over the fact he played as if he didn’t want to get hurt.
  24. They’re from a retro style custom shirt produced by Owls Americas with proceeds to Jude’s charity.
