He wants the first team to move away from Middlewood. I've been told we've already sounded out a partnership with Sheffield Uni's sport science department and the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (Sheffield) but we're looking for other training facilities or land to build on.

He also wants the pre-season in Germany and not the usual warm weather jolly in Portugal.

@bazapeps posted this almost a month ago. Same source told me about the tie in with Sheffield University and the pre season in Germany and, according to the interview, they got the Germany bit right.

Rumour is they want Will Still from Reims as the next manager but would cost £5m compensation unless they waited til this summer, others are linking them with Röhl

Still was interviewed before they appointed Beale but the compensation put paid to the appointment.

Cifuentes is also in the running and although he's said he'd prefer to stay in London if he doesn't get what he wants out of QPR then he'll be leaving.

  3. We'll be offered first refusal on Vitek if we stay up but he'll come as first choice. If we bin Dawson then we have to decide whether to bring in a more experienced keeper who's happy to be number 2 or promote Charles. Vitek is certainly more physical than Beadle but just as agile. Where he beats Beadle is in his commanding of his area. He's a great talker/shouter and organises his defence well.

The 1867 group could have distanced themselves from the kid and his dad with an official statement on your X account but I'm guessing, please tell me if I'm way off, that the group hierarchy decided to see which way this swung first.

Then you post on here that they were nothing to do with the group (still no official distancing) yet they were a bi-product of your protest by using your song.

Any instant condoning or distancing, by the group, might have seen you in a different light but the initial reaction across certain media and forums must have seemed like manna from heaven to some within the ranks.

You're right in that everyone is entitled to their opinion but that opinion needs to be formed from accuracy. Unfortunately too much is derived from hearsay and misinformation and the 1867 X page is the prime culprit. Whether posted by the group or added to in comments by others the place is hotbed of lies and misinformation (and worse) that people like those two on Saturday are a product of your movement.

It could have escalated into a full scale confrontation and I do wonder which side you (the group) would have fallen into and how quickly.

  5. Us, Plymouth, and Cardiff showing an interest in Brighton midfielder Marc Leonard. 22 year old and deemed surplus to requirements. Been on loan at Northampton for the past two seasons and done well. Still under contract but available for £300k or less.

Been with Brighton since he was 16 but just not good enough for the Prem

No but we were very close once. During our two successive seasons as Champions of England, 1928-30, the ref. blew his whistle to end the game after the ball left our forwards head but before it entered the net for our equalising goal in the semi final.  And you think refs have it in for us now?

Bet you were gutted as you were waiting for the charabanc to take you home.

I sort of get this a little more, you do want fit and proper clubs in the EFL and this would appear a case of wanting potential new entrants to have their own ground. Too many recent examples of unscrupulous landlords

The council are the current landlords although by the looks of this counter statement they're trying to sell the stadium off which is why they couldn't offer a cast iron 10 years. They did provide the EFL with a letter saying they could have the tenancy for 10 years but if they sold it it would be sold with the stipulation that the new owners could renegotiate the lease.

Seems that wasn't enough for the EFL but if I was Gateshead then I'd take it further using Coventry as an example and any other club in a similar position.

  8. Not seen him Fernandes apart from his YouTube clips but here's what I know.

Came to us as an u14 from Hunslet boys. Leeds wanted him and he trialled but Danny Cadamarteri played a big part in convincing the lad he'd be better with us.

Skipped the 15s and went straight into the u16s where he carried on scoring for fun. Done really well on his scholarship and he was offered a pro deal at the beginning of this month but I can't find out if he's signed it yet. I think he needs a full season in the 21s but with the added incentive of first team training integration, a bit like we've done with the likes of Bailey, Joey, and Sam Reed.

He actually favours the 10 role and ghosting from deep than being in a two up top. So he could slot into a Rohl system.

  9. The rest of football needs to find a way to devalue the FA Cup.

The EFL, if it hasn't been consulted, could respond by extending the EFL Trophy for a season to include Championship clubs and all EFL clubs withdraw. Change the format to home/away leg straight knockouts and kick the pool games into touch and kick out the PL U21 teams. This increases value to a crap trophy but also coverage and therefore direct revenue into the EFL.

Or every club from Championship to National North/South threatens to pull out. Totally devalues round 1 and 2 but gives the true minnows a chance to progress to round 3 and get a premier league club. How many overseas viewers will tune into Morpeth Town Vs Grays Athletic in round 5?

  10. The interest from Napoli, however slight it was, died before Christmas and since February he's been played wide on either wing and not in his favoured central position.

So he's had enough,  he wants to leave, and he's looking back to England. His agent is making discreet enquiries. Turkish media had him linked to Hull City (maybe for obvious reasons) in January but nothing came of it.
