    ...Halfway / Westfield

    I don't know mate.

Someone I know at the uni says there's a possibility that a joint venture may be on the table, from the university side, as the NCSEM is split across several sites, including Graves Park and Concord, and they want to centralise the whole thing.

Even though Sheffield is the only national sports med unit outside of London the relevant bodies won't fully pay for one central venue so the uni are looking for partners.

Why are they getting away with it? Either they are guilty or not?

The Premier League voted at its AGM last summer to introduce new rules to fast-track financial breaches - such as happened with Everton and Forest - but those new rules were introduced after Leicester had been relegated, and so don't apply to them.

They're currently going through the old process and will pick up their sanction, if there is to be one, at the beginning of next season.

  3. He wants the first team to move away from Middlewood. I've been told we've already sounded out a partnership with Sheffield Uni's sport science department and the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (Sheffield) but we're looking for other training facilities or land to build on.

He also wants the pre-season in Germany and not the usual warm weather jolly in Portugal.

I really don't want to be right but that team feels like he's learnt nothing from Ipswich/Leicester/Southampton.

    This.

Bannan in a middle two again.

FFS if Poveda is fit enough to start then drop Bannan for Vaulks, play two grafters in the middle and let Poveda and Windass run around and cause problems.

    It's not rocket science Danny.

  5. I can imagine our fanbase if we'd released a director's statement like this.

our analysis shows that performance levels over the course of the campaign have merited a much better league position

they do clearly show that our performances have been good enough to earn a league position significantly better than the 16th place we currently find ourselves in,

The metrics also show that our performance levels haven't changed significantly over the season.

Definitely one to watch although  I think he'll quickly become one that'll be out of our orbit.

Archie Gray is only 18 but broke through this season and there's now a £40m price tag on him as Arsenal, Leverkusen, and Bayern begin to circle.

If Crew is managed in the same way then I expect the same.

  7. I can imagine the meltdown now if we took an 18 year old on loan from Leeds with no first team experience. Crew is shining at the moment for their U18s but has only made the first team bench because of injuries, in particular to Ilia Gruev. Farke has said in today's pre-match that he's not ready for a start yet. At the moment he stands out because he's bossing u18 games against the likes of Millwall (watch how much room they give him in centre mid on a showreel on X). If Leeds go up, the plan is for him to spend a full season in their 21s in PL2, interspersed with first team training. Personally I'd follow that and if he's still shining against the likes of Liverpool and both Manchester clubs then loan him out in January.

If we're looking at Leeds for possible loans then I'd certainly look at Sam Greenwood, currently at Boro. Boro won't be buying him but he won't be in Leeds plans as Farke doesn't fancy him.

But, if you want a Crew type player who's already done a full season of first team football then I'd take a punt on Charlie Savage, if we could get a fire sale out of Reading. Portsmouth and Peterborough nibbled during January and he's attracting interest from the championship.

  8. Starting with.

Surprise surprise but Warne wants to take Viktor Johansson from Rotherham but faces competition from the pigs. Johansson has one year left but a release clause of around £500k. Rotherham are hoping for a bidding war, especially as Johansson looks likely to be named in the Championship squad of the season.

Joe Wildsmith's contract is up at the end of the season and has attracted Championship interest. However there's a whisper he may be off to Man City as 3rd choice if Scott Carson moves into coaching. City will look to fulfill Carson's spot with another English keeper to keep within their homegrown quota

  9. I've posted previously, on another thread, that Leam Richardson has already told his squad who he's letting go and who he wants to stay and it's not done them much good.

If the majority of our out of contract players think they'll get a move to another championship club then they're sorely mistaken and L1 and L2 clubs cut their cloth accordingly. A lot of lower clubs do place an onus on attitude towards the back end of the season and if they see a player becoming disinterested in a relegation fight then they will think twice.

I've no doubt it's easier to have a mindset of 'where's my next contract' at this time but it's also what players pay agents for and these agents should be earning their money not only looking for clubs but telling their client to put a shift in.

I'm sure no agent wants to try and 'sell' his player to another club when his Opti stats have dropped 10-15% in the last few games.

Did anyone else think that this is a complete no brainer and assumed that it happened anyway, just didn't get mentioned because it was normal and not newsworthy?

Until Rohl came in there's never been a true synergy between academy and first team.  It's why I banged on about downgrading and creating a B team

There wasn't even true cohesion between u15/16s and the first-year scholarship group which is why we always used to hold open trials at U18s. The 18s, 23s (as then was) and the first team all played different styles depending on who was in the squads which became a major reason why we used to release so many.

Rohl has everyone from u15 upwards playing the same way and has instigated a coach the coaches programme coupled with the likes of Vaulks doing his coaching hours in there as well.

It's stuff like this that makes me feel Rohl is here for the duration. If he came in thinking fuck it I'm off if we're relegated then I don't think he'd have spent this much time and effort on the academy

And here's the get out of jail free card

"The clubs will now have the burden of proof to show that deals with associated companies are of "fair market value",The clubs will be required to provide a declaration from a director of the associated party that the deal is considered to be fair.'

All a club like Man City has to do is determine their value within the Premier League's new 4 year £6.7bn tv rights deal and act accordingly. New stadium naming rights sponsorship at £400m over the same timeframe and a director at Etihad Airways says it's fair market value based on PL and Sky projected viewing figures.

  12. Going early as the rumours and possibles have started.

If we stay in the Championship and Rohl is still here then Man Utd will offer us first choice on taking goalkeeper Radek Vitek on loan. They're impressed at how James Beadle has come on within our set up.

Vitek is 20 years old, 6' 4" and built like a brick shit house. Very imposing and commanding but extremely agile. Currently on loan at Accrington and doing very well, despite their results.

Signed a new long term contract at Old Trafford, in January, and they have high hopes of him being a future number 1 sooner rather than later. Schmeichel and Oliver Khan both rave about him.

Adolf Dassler was a confirmed Nazi.  That's all you need to know about Adidas ( and Puma tbf)

    They indeed were.

    Adolf and Rudolph Dassler.

The general conception of Johan Cruyff wearing 2 stripes on his Netherlands kit is that he was sponsored by Puma at the time and they threatened to pull his sponsorship if he wore Adidas but it goes deeper than that.

Cruyff's wife had Jewish family members who died in Sobibor and Auschwitz and he refused to wear Adidas because of that. The connection ran so deep for him that he entered signed testimony into Yad Vashem on behalf of members of his wife's family. He also gave money to Dutch people and organisations who had sheltered Jews during WW2. On his death Maccabi Tel-Aviv wore black armbands and specially designed shirts with 14 incorporated into the design.

Rudolph was never a member of the Nazi Party. In contrast Adolf was a fervent member and the story goes that he used his party connections to conscript Rudolph into the army so that he could take full control of the business and hope Rudolph never came home.

  14. He could go slightly in front of a back 4 in a 4-1-4-1 which is where Hoddle played himself and he could cover across the back line and pick up short within the gaps.

He had arguably his best seasons with us playing left so it makes sense to place him there but if he's also going to be the defensive outlet then he becomes easy to shut down and we could become lopsided trying to assist. However he also could be a useful decoy as we lure the opposition over then switch to release Valentin down the right.

  15. As many have said, the home game set up doesn't work away. But with the opposition we have left to play we may need to set up more pragmatic at home as well. We need to provisionally set up for the draw first against QPR and Norwich. Then see where we sit and what we have to do against Stoke. Playing Blackburn on Sunday now becomes a godsend as well can set up dependent on the previous day's results.

Rohl and his team now have to look at what's around them and not just the opposition in front. There's only Plymouth with the proverbial easy game this weekend. There's a 6 pointer at Huddersfield and Birmingham are at Leicester.

And we need to take this approach on every game day. Plymouth still have to play QPR Leicester and Millwall who could still be flirting with the drop. Birmingham still have Coventry Huddersfield and playoff chasing Norwich on the last day. Huddersfield still have to go to Bristol City and are away at Ipswich on the last day.

We have to look for points in all of our next four games. I don't care if that means playing the most boring football in the world. I don't want to be entertained. I want to be in the championship next season

  16. Been giving some thought to @Andyben idea of playing Bannan in defence and was wondering if he could play the Glenn Hoddle Swindon/Chelsea 'sweeper' role, especially if we're going to insist on playing out short. We've all seen the number of times he used to drop too deep and leave the gap in the middle.

I think he could get a few more years out of his career playing that role lower down but it's too late to be experimenting this season.
