  1. As we are unlikely to be troubling the FA Cup Final itself I would suggest it be played at Hampden Park.
  2. There was a table published recently reflecting the status of current English clubs, recording points achieved trophies won ,etc, and we were ranked number 13. Above the sty dwellers and Leeds. I'd settle for that. Cannot remember where Villa were but would be amazed if they were not higher than us.
  3. DM has so far kept a dignified silence about his departure. I am sure he would be the last one wanting someone to take issue with it, especially someone who wasn't party to what was said. Don't get me wrong I think DC made the right decision - probably a little late in my opinion- but he is the employer and current custodian of the club. Anybody thinking they could do better can always buy the club and prove it. Plus Sheffield has the added bonus - buy Wednesday and get the pigs for free. We could use an extra training ground.
  4. In the first spell of Piaxo we had several deals with Watford/ex Watford players. Wonder if there is a connection?
  5. I was never a fan of DM. Tactically limited, frequently out thought by opposition coaches etc.,Howver the timing of his dismissal could have put us in a quandry at this key time in the close season. Perhaps a D of F in place could have identified the market and laid preparations to ensure business as normal, particularly with the number of contracts up for renewal.
  6. I'll know when I get alzheimers, it'll be when I forget the club being number 2 in the Football League, nailed on to be number 1 but having that snatched away by Mr fucking tight arsed Sheffield Wednesday not releasing £60K for Joe Baker.
  7. Saw somewhere on social media that Reading have been served with a winding up order.
  8. I don't understand an owner having a "good friend" as an advisor whose prime job is as an agent. Someone with a vested interest cannot possibly be beneficial to the cause of the club, only to himself.
  9. One tale he doesn't tell is that he was working in Wuhan shortly before the pandemic.
  10. Lovely guy Waddle. Carlton opinionated but astute financially. Hirst is a law onto himself and Shezza loves his drink
  11. Carlton owns property worldwide
  12. I tried several times to get detailed accounts for the club during 1950s/60s and drew a blank. Local businessmen eg a butcher at Burnley ran clubs and authorities didn't seem bothered about financial happenings in football. Granted it wasn't awash with money then but but you never saw club secretaries, directors struggling when the club was, We had mega attendances compared to today and even had the nerve to invest some in the club even though it was one person's vanity project. However, we were more naive than Simple Simon. We had a very mediocre wing half called Don Gibson. Claim to fame- his father in law was Matt Busby. Our star player Albert Quixall was soon Old Trafford bound.
  13. Was it over £1M+ compo DC paid Donny and he followed the accepted procedures for talking to a manager in post at another club.
  14. Does the world need a "bacon slicing machine " on the Sty turnstiles? If so I'll start working on it.
  15. Search parties still combing Brecon Beacons for the Welsh midfield.
  16. Bournemouth guy who left this morning? Looks like the work of that mate of DCs.
  17. I was busy doping the horses that took the Dingles coach back
  18. Dingle fact. They won the FA Cup Final in 1912 in a replay at the Sty. Scored in the last minute of extra time
  19. They used to,possibly still do,rent a suite of rooms at the stadium out for Speed Awareness Courses. Made a load of dosh out of that
  20. Having lived through his tenure and know some of what really went on I cannot support Reesh's old fans sentiment. Our chairman at the time, Dr Andrew Stephen would fit the bill from my past. He wrote prescriptions out on Reserve Team programmes when he made house calls. Player wise it would have to be Redfern Froggat from that era.
