    In view of the heat, I wonder if the plan was to save energy in the first half and increase the tempo as the game wore on That could excuse the poor first half performance and let Charlton run down the pitch to the Kop end.     I saw the end of second half of Water Bingley's career. Second choice left back. The only player who could get past him was Stanley Matthews. When Matthews tried to send him the wrong way or nutmeg him Walt blocked him because he was so confused he just walked into Matthews.

    I've seen it in reverse. Bobby Craig was signed from Third Lanark in 1959. He was outstanding in the 1960-61 when we were second to the double winning Spurs team. So much skill . He scored 25 goals in 84 games. However he developed a serious drink problem and ballooned in size and weight so we shipped him back to Scotland.
