  1. I admire your tenacity Mr Lint in continuing the lone argument. Good job I never did that on Carlos. Your last paragraph is interesting, I never got carried away with last season because as you rightly say that squad never really enthused me football wise. We were more flat track bullies, that tactically got found out on occasion and stumbled across the finishing line. I never bought this was a decent Championship squad hiding in League 1. And I consider my thoughts are justified in that regard. The next stage recruitment is where the issue lies. It was so scattergun and failed to add any real quality
  2. I think we all understand change is needed. I kept hearing that Xisco was all about revolution not evolution. Well perhaps the players were savvy enough to realise this revolution was like some crackpot leftie one. The outcome would be terrible and not work. And none of us could really work out what that entailed anyway. What radical way of football was trying to be introduced. Just because Pep has success playing out from the back doesn't mean the rest of the world should follow. A good coach plays to the strengths of the players to start with and Xisco simply was too arrogant in his beliefs to do that
  3. Well it's a bad day for Gladbach In the space of 5 mins, a player sent off, conceded a penalty, keeper saves it but was off his line, same guy scores the retaken one. Tbf the ref got every decision right
  4. The other side of that equation is that we always seem liable to concede a goal. Tbf the lad yesterday took it well and by reversing into the near side, Dawson was unsighted a tad. And I suppose once we play sides nearer the top will the games in fact be tight
  5. And those pondering salvation in the January window, the game v Hull on 1st Jan is Matchday 26 As invariably happens there would be another couple of games before the window closes. The risk is we will be cut adrift from memory bliss to such an extent by that stage
  6. Rohl will be a good appointment, but we all know Wednesday fans. Expectations increase and then when he only achieves an average outcome he will be deemed to have failed. The grim reality is we need to go backwards to go forwards. Of course it would be better if that was in the Championship. I just don't think it will be
  7. I am not expecting him to be the next coming. But when I see the same old options of Smith or Gregory. Patterson is a wholehearted player for sure, but really a striker at Championship level he ain't. My youngest is now at the age when he bemoans that Real Madrid start kids younger than him. If they are good enough they are old enough
  8. I mean what is there to lose. None of Smith, Gregory, Patterson, Fletcher nor Wilks are going to be effective in the Championship. I always recall at one of our many low ebbs Chris Brunt been given a chance. He hit a 70 yard cross field ball to the feet of our full back. It restored some faith. No one knows if Cadamatari could make a difference, but what are we saving him for.
  9. I am not going to argue about Xisco. And I am not being critical of Rohl, I am sure he will improve us and by definition we should get more goal scoring opportunities. But frankly I think the players at his disposal will make this a difficult ask. I am setting my benchmark low accordingly.
  10. The high press stutters to a halt because the midfielders and forwards are fit enough to last 60 minutes I just think people are building false hope when the reality is the base level is so poor
  11. A simple question where are the goals coming from. Aside from Windass, not one of the other strikers is good enough.
  12. And basic abilities like passing a ball. There was a moment today when Patterson collected the ball, under no pressure and there was a simple pass out to Wilks that went 30 years ahead of him and out for a throw.
  13. My point is the calibre of players currently at his disposal is very limited. My own view is that even if he can get then playing at 100% of their capability individually and collectively this squad is an 18th to 20th place level side at best. There is a limit to what he can realistically achieve and I am placing no false hope on him. I mean Alan Sugar could coach me, but I ain't ever going to be an FD of a FTSE 100 company on the back of it.
  14. He is a football coach not some miracle worker. I think he will have grasped today the huge task he has taken on.
  15. Seriously cannot argue against that There is only so much coaching can achieve. It was better, there was semblance of a plan, the officials conspired against us However our lack of quality in all areas of the pitch is so below what is required, we aren't going to score enough goals to win enough games
  16. We ain't going to score goals - aside from Windass there isn't a Championship standard striker in the squad. At the same time we are always likely to concede at least one. Our piss poor recruitment in League 1 to move forward into this league and the even piss poorer summer recruitment that could have addressed it have totally left a new manager with no where to go It's not being defeatist just realistic
  17. The absolute issue we have is the technical and physical limitations of the players Rohl is working with a very very average group of players. And when the basics of passing and tackling defeat so many of our players, and then the more technically capable are blowing out their arse after an hour. It is better but I think our good enough is not frankly good enough
  18. Sad news being announced this afternoon
  19. Few technical gremlins on the water source today but sort of done OK the 20 minutes viewed
  20. Lets be honest if Xisco had selected this team we would be tutting loudly. The difference will be if there is a coherent plan and tactics on the pitch But it may be you can't polish a turd
  21. Still no natural left side defender. No Johnson in the squad so not a lot has changed Probably the slowest midfield 3 for a number of years Let's see how it goes
  22. We should have all listened to Greta after all
