My eyes (or brain) were not working right and read that as The Christians at first !!

Nearly booked this but spent too much on gigs recently and seen them loads.  Always excellent.

Unfortunately it's become a very expensive hobby.

  2. Saw The Charlatans at the Octagon tonight having last seen them there 32 years ago, Burgess sounds great still and the band were on top form, good selection of songs, really enjoyed this.

I was at the New Order gig too, fantastic show but what the feck the support band was about ive no idea. Apart from the bee keepers I enjoyed them

The support was very odd indeed, like an avant garde Peter Andre tribute act.

Did anyone notice the song being played in the stadium at the end of the game? Quite apt really.

    Probably very few heard it.

I feel a bit shellshocked after todays game, I thought the obvious improvements under Rohl would come to fruition and we'd beat a bang average Millwall side, the first 20mins bore this out as our passing and movement was a joy to watch, the miss by Musaba was a turning point when Millwall went straight up the other end, won a corner and scored the easiest header you'll ever see, then the floodgates opened.

I'm not sure now if Rohls the messiah or a very naughty boy but I do know that horrible recruitment in the summer (by who knows who) has killed us.

L1 football next season I'm afraid.

  5. The game was a joy to watch, good atmosphere and always great to get one over Toytown (I think they were quietly confident after the Coventry result) a great attacking first half where we could have been out of sight (I’m always a bit worried at 1-0 as we know what happens), I’m not sure if Rovrum were so poor it made us look good but there has been an improvement in each game since Rohl took over, decent test at Brizzle up next.

  6. I've had a few run in's with him on social media for differeing opinions but was saddened when I read his Tweet yesterday, devastating new for him and his family and friends, I really feel for them and having just lost a very close relative to that horrible disease I know how they'll be feeling.

My first memory of watching us at Vicarage Road was when Graham Taylor was in charge. In a style similar to that which I think Xisco wanted for us, Watford ripped us apart on the counterattack. Speed down the wings with John Barnes left and ? Callaghan right with Wilf Rostrum overlapping and, I think, Blisset and Jenkins (fast, big, powerful) up front. Four nil at half time.

I remember thinking at HT, that if we get a quick goal we might still get something out of the game. And straight from the kick off, the defence opened up and Ticker Taylor ran through on goal.

He missed. The hoped for comeback petered out. FT 4-0. But I have a weird affection for the game as it was my first hearing, at a match, of “always look on the bright side of life”.

    Nigel.

  8. Saw New Order in Leeds last Saturday, a shame they parted ways with Peter Hook but still a great show and fantastic set list.

Went to the Leadmill on Tuesday to watch the play New Dawn Fades which covers the story of Joy Division, really enjoyed it.

It's fucking hilarious how the biggest criticism of Chansiri is a lack of a long term plan and yet folks are falling all over themselves to demand he appoint a 74 year old as manager.

Can I just stress that despite my post I DO NOT want that big nosed ham shanker as our manager, I'd rather go down.

The main reason for even considering Warnock is that to stay up we'll probably have to finish above Huddersfield.

Colin would take shithousing to a new level to keep us up, it would be the hardest he's ever worked as there's not a chance in he'll that he isn't pissed off about Huddersfield letting him go.

Keeping Sheffield Wednesday up at the expense of a team who sacked him would be the perfect end to his career and his last fuck you to football and his doubters.

It also aligns with Chansiri, as he will also want the same result, as it would justify his decision in the summer as well as keep the club up, giving him time to find a new manager and put a proper plan in place.

    There isn't a box it doesn't tick.

As for not happening because it would divide the fanbase, as soon as we hit 21st, it would all go away, not to mention that the divide is already there.

Is it going to split the fanbase as much as Rohl coming in and trying much the same stuff that Xisco did and dropping most of the old guard?

There'd be a couple of diehards, but players and managers are more professional now and it's more about interests than tribalistic nonsense.

    It's not 1972 anymore.

This is the bit that would worry me in this scenario.

The main problem with “that loony from stalk” is that he believes everything he thinks is the truth. In his eyes Moore could do no wrong and anyone suggesting anything different was anti Wednesday, now it’s anyone that doesn’t want DC to be gone yesterday is the problem.

I honestly believe he thinks there’s a massive queue of multi millionaires snaking down Penistone road desperate to chuck money at Chansiri. I wonder who’s fault it would be if the owner pulled the plug and just walked away leaving us penniless and unable to pay the bills?

like him or not we’re stuck with DC for the foreseeable future,

He tried to imply you were racist if you criticised Moore on one thread.

Doesn't seem to be anything about Rohl going to Bournemuff, hopefully it's just BS.

We don't know what we'll get with Rohl but it does look an interesting one and one that I'm happy to go with. Getting merry go round managers hasn't worked for us and the dark cloud hovering mardy pig **** fills me with dread.

I get local media are starved of stories, call me blinkered but they always seem to have negative sleights toward our club whenever they can. The incessant touting of Colin is pissing me off. They'd fucking love it for another split in our fanbase. Not one of em really gives 2 fucks whether he is actually the right fit (which he isn't) just want to boost the gimps calling into FH and click on pages/ twatter etc.

Don't pay that much attention bur The Stir pig reporters are always licking arse yet we get the negative pricks.

Even Staton (****) felt the need to be on commentqry v West Brom with another. (not seen that before) and it was all negative shit. Slating Vasquez when he'd made @4 excellent saves. Is he Dawsons mate/ access to stories to the club?

The amount of airtime give to the tyre kicker was bizarre, it's also strange that since being called out by DC he has gone quiet...

The hacks say if Rohl was appointed he'd need the Wednesday fans to give him time. I think 25 yrs of shite shows that we can do that. It's the local rag that waint! Is it because DC isn't from High Green? I think every press conference XM was asked about Marvin, then they slate him for not moving on.

The sainthood of DM is mental, majority of the time it was eyebleed to watch and inevitable that we'd concede when we did. Fully back DC for not pandering to his pay rise as from looking at the last couple of years we'd have slumped and been in the same position now but with big payoffs to him and his staff

I'm quite pleased that DM is managing in the Championship as I'm pretty sure it will justify DC's decision not to bow to his demands, it will also send a few of his worshippers back under their stone (that loony from 'Stalk thinks he's our best ever manager).

The scary thing for me is that even if we (highly unlikely) had promotion form over the next 11 games we would get 22 points and be on 25 points. And only just on target to get 50 points.

If we got an average return, basically I mean you win 1 draw 1 lose 1, so 4 points every 3 games we would be borderline on relegation.

That is the scale of the task any new manager is facing.

I was having quite a good Monday until I read this 😀 sadly it's the reality of the situation we are in and one I'm not confident we can get out of.

    Warnock 9/4 still

ill state this now if DC signs That pig **** he’s gonna need a crash helmet cause I’ll be on south stand chucking coins at Colin’s head.

Bookies odds in relation to managerial appointments mean absolutely zilch.

I like the “wears a cap indoors” particularly.

It’s cost cutting to keep it going. Paradoxically I think the managers and players over recent years have given less away about the actual football so the journalists make bits up and nationally report on the personalities and private life.

Theyd be better just reporting on the football and analysis of the games.

Click bait has ruined journalism, they have to root out negatives and speculation as it generates nore traffic.

Oscar Garcia getting mentions. Some good pedigree but some question marks too. Reputation apparently for bringing younger players through.

His stats in isolation are checkered but mitigated maybe by circumstances (war in Israel in his second spell after successful first ) and illness of his daughter for 8 years before her passing in November last year a month after his dismissal from Reims.

Left field possibility but perhaps career stats too similar to Xisco’s for many.

Should stand him in good stead for working with DC.
