Fat Eric Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 2nd test match starts today, really looking forward to it, Trent Bridge is a beautiful ground to watch cricket, always a good atmosphere there too, should be another competitive game, I always think it should be a 5 match series against New Zealand. LiamOwl Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 (edited) Never been to Trent Brodge, but it is one I’d like to get to. Going to second day at Headingley - might see a result 😄 Edited June 10, 2022 by LiamOwl Quote
Fat Eric Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 I'd definitely recommend you going there Liam, pisses all over Headingley as a stadium. I've got day 3 at Headingley this year, hopefully the train strike gets cancelled so I can be in The Original Oak for breakfast at 9, really don't want to have to drive. Quote
Skamp Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 genuine question - I thought Headingly had been taken off the circuit. When did that get sorted out? When the new committee were sworn in? Quote
LiamOwl Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 It had, subject to them making suitable improvements. I think it was middle of February when they decided they would keep it at Headingley. Quote

Reesh Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 Leeds CC have ticked every box needed to get the test status back. I'm all for making positive appointments but what the fuck does Tanni Grey-Thompson have to bring to Yorkshire. Also fuck the county side, the lack of inclusion or attempt to encourage people from the South Riding and the clubs birthplace is frankly fucking ridiculous. Quote
Tylluan Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Surely there has to be a better English spinner than Jack Leach. Or if you're going to use him to tie up an end then don't set fields that are trying to take wickets. Quote
Tylluan Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Before central contracts you'd pick a team based on the ground and wicket. Nottinghamshire's Patterson-White is the current leading spinner and it's his home ground. He's classed as an all rounder so can bat too. TMS produced some interesting stats about balls bowled by spinners before 25 years old. Tufnell had done something like 22,000, Panesar over 16,000 and the current crop struggled to get over 5000. Same with pace. Broad and Anderson had done 2000+ and the next one was Robinson with 700. Quote
Reesh Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 You don't have to be centrally contacted to be picked. Quote

Mark Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 What a win that is. Has there ever been such a quick turn ar in a cricket team. Incredible Quote
owl71 Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Brilliant test match. All results still possible at tea on the 5th day, and in the end we canter over the line with an hour or so to spare. Brilliant from Bairstow. Macullum has shoved a jump lead up this team’s arse. Quote
Andyben Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Sky TV are giving away lots of free tickets for the 1days, incl headingley and the test at Edgbaston Quote
Mark Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Willey and TKC leaving Yorkshire. Bit of a mess down there at moment. Although quite a few decent youngsters coming through Quote
Fat Eric Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Surprised with the TKC one, especially as they're releasing him early from his contract, I can only think the finances are going to be f****d for a few years now considering the £20m existing debt and all the likely compo to the 16 that got sacked. Quote
owl4ever1867 Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 3rd test @ Headingley. 1st innings : NZ : 329 All Out England : 296-6 Bairstow 150 Not Out - another fantastic knock. Quote
owl4ever1867 Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Gutted for Overton, he's gone for 97! Just 3 shy of an unbelievable century.... England 7 down. Quote
owl4ever1867 Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 At one point yesterday, England were 55/6, what a remarkable fight by Bairstow & Overton. Broad swinging away & is on 26 from 18 England are now ahead 330/7 Quote
LiamOwl Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 What a day yesterday, in previous years we’ve sat on Western Terrace, or at least somewhere along that stand, but moved in to The Howard Stand yesterday. What a view from there and particularly from the concourse which looks straight on to the pitch rather than being bricked up or filled with boxes. Superb effort from Bairstow and Overton yesterday afternoon and again this morning. Quote
LiamOwl Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 No idea why that picture is upside down 🤷🏻♂️ Quote
owl4ever1867 Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 England require 278 wins to run.. Currently 18/1 Quote

Didn't realise it was a 1 off test until you said Reesh. England have won the 3rd & final test match by 7 wickets Root 86no Bairstow 71no (from just 44 balls) Well played England. Quote
