Fair play to them, deserved to go through. We were awful. But. Our two best moves made the difference.

The substitutions made the difference.   Without the changes we'd have lost, I'm in no doubt.

Without the change for Palmer to be behind him, Johnson would not have gone forward the way he did for the two expert assists. He'd been awful today: no surprise, he's simply not a defender.

We'll find out not just from the Cup draw the value of today but from the 'butcher's bill' when we find out about the injuries. Neither Gregory or Ihiekwe looked happy bunnies as they went off.  Fingers crossed.

Positives from yesterday.

Those two Smith goals will have done his confidence a world of good. He must have been a little disappointed with his goal return so far, then in the blink of an eye he’s on a decent seven for this stage of the season.

A nice return for Palmer.

Two quality crosses for Johnson which as with Smith must help with his confidence in what has been a disappointing season so far for him.

And to force a positive from a negative. Yesterday showed that (with current personnel) we can’t go four at the back. In Palmer we have just one competent full back in the squad.

Completely agree with those comments, especially the last one.  Which isn't great when Palmer has to cover centre back too.
