Social media peeps gathering…..
Gleadless Owl replied to HoylandOwl's topic in The Haigh and Wright Suite
Twitter, Facebook etc is all the same. "I'm right and you're wrong" is all it amounts to. Don't think we're worse than anyone else, it's just more noticeable when it's our club. -
Matchday ticket pricing... 23/24

In what way do you think his tenure is ending any time soon? -
Only the 3rd test and it's already on a par with 2005 for drama. Still enjoyable to watch even though our chances of getting anything out of the series are slim. I always think modern players in any sport have it a little bit easier and get a bit more attention than any of their predecessors ever had. But fuck me Stokes has got to be up there with the all time greats

Matchday ticket pricing... 23/24

Cost me £485 to renew in the North in the first window. Bearing in mind that could still have been in League One I thought it was a decent price. Seeing how the same ticket has gone up to over £700 doesn't seem right to me. A lot genuinely won't be able to afford to go more than 2 or 3 times a season. As has been mentioned though, train tickets, hotels, a full weekend in London etc came easy enough for Wembley for the part timers. A lot of those will be the ones shouting loudest on social media -
Bruce and Pulis managed at a higher level, so why wouldn't they be paid more?
-
They've had some class kits over the years, that's one of their worst

Moore has left the club by mutual consent

I think we had a 6/10 manager this season and his players won him most of the games despite his tactics. I'll give him massive credit for how he prepared them for the 2nd leg against Peterborough and made them believe it was possible -
Managerial Merry-go-round 23/24

Following in Hockaday's footsteps to Leeds hopefully -
Not sure what Waddle's done to annoy you, but having Palmer above Sheridan in your top 3 makes you a bit of a clown any way

There will always be managers who back themselves to produce some sort of success at clubs like ours irrespective of who the owner is. Whether it's someone the fans want is a different matter (or if they are an improvement on Moore). Most modern coaches at the younger end wouldn't be put off by a committee bringing players in

Not a fan of the early declaration as I don't see what we've gained. Would rather have an extra 30 or 40 runs for them to chase as I think it's a series that will come down to fine margins. Not really the conditions for our bowlers at the moment so would have liked to have see us pile a few more runs on. However, I've spent a lifetime watching football and cricket on the whole with safety first managers so it's refreshing to see us go for it and stick two fingers up at the opposition

Stockdale’s final Owls interview…
Gleadless Owl replied to HoylandOwl's topic in The Haigh and Wright Suite
Came across well on Undr The Cosh. Generally players like him who've had to work their way through the lower leagues appreciate their careers more. Don't mind a bit of timewasting and shithousery either. Something we seem to have spent years complaining about other teams/players doing and rarely done ourselves -
Inside Matchday - Wembley edition

Delighted for the likes of Palmer and Dawson. I don't think they're good enough for the Championship (hope they'll prove me wrong), but as Wednesday fans it doesn't get any better for them -
There's no disputing we've got a large number of fans who are only interested for the big games and anyone who tried returning tickets for Derby or the 2nd leg is an embarrassment. But if Everton, Leeds, Newcastle, Villa to name a few had been in the third tier three times in 20+ seasons and won fuck all in that time I don't think their average attendances would better ours

Got mine this morning. Missed out on 2005 and 2016 so chuffed with that

San Francisco about 4 or 5 years ago. Buying tickets for Alcatraz and had to give my address. Lad was only in his 20s and he said "Sheffield, Sheffield Wednesday! They are my English team" Zante in 2004 first pub I went in was called The Red Lion. Run by a family of pigs and he hated our group. Proper miserable fucker. Didn't appreciate multiple renditions of Hark Now Hear The Wednesday sing after 10 pints for some reason

Funny thing is I don't think we actually played that well from a footballing perspective. It was just a proper old fashioned putting them under pressure and bombarding them job and they wilted. Sort of thing we haven't done enough over the last 20 years

Been critical of DM this season, but he deserves massive credit tonight. Had our wing backs high up forcing their full backs back and Palmer in centre mid was the legs we've been missing. Thought we would be knackered after 65 mins, but still found something after conceding in extra time. Can't think of a game I've been to at Hillsborough that comes anywhere near that, especially after how fucked off I was on Friday night
-
The run of games after Barnsley couldn't have been any better, so I think the fans are right to be pissed off with the manager or players at how automatic promotion has been thrown away
-
Should've gone at the end of last season. When we beat Plymouth thought he was going to prove me wrong this season. His insistence on 3-5-2 when we haven't got the players at the moment is killing us. Even the Burton lot on ifollow knew he had no plan b.

Can't stand Warnock, but rather stay in L1? 3rd time we've been in this division and it gets shitter every time. I'd have Warnock manager, Tony Currie doing the half time borefest and Sean Bean pom pom dancing in front of the kop if it meant we never had to play in this shithole of a division ever again
