  1. Crikey. Assume he got sent off for the penalty, if so that’s a cracking eight points in the space of three minutes. Impressive stuff.
  2. Anyone else getting golf instead of the build up on the Sky channel it’s supposed to be on?
  3. It was something of an anti climax to the end of a tremendous season as Wednesday played out a 0-0 draw with Liverpool in front of 34,861 at S6. It was a game of few chances with Wednesday having the better of it but never really looking like breaking the deadlock. With Man Utd winning their final game any chance of a runners up spot had gone anyway, so Wednesday finished third, seven points behind champions Leeds, and three behind the Old Trafford side. Arsenal were three points behind us, with Man City completing the top five. At the foot of the table West Ham, Notts County and Luton were relegated with Coventry and Norwich escaping the drop by two and three points respectively. Our neighbours had a remarkable turn around from an early season position that looked like they’d be serious relegation candidates and finished ninth.
  4. Yes it was the penalty shoot out v Huddersfield that I was talking about. It was that game that my mind immediately went to when Reesh set the question, but could not for the life of me remember who’d scored, so I looked it up; hence why I didn’t submit it as an answer.
  5. The fact that we’ve just beaten one of the form sides 4-1 (albeit with nothing to play for for them) should not be overlooked. We are a good side. We can do this. Come on Wednesday.
  6. Gregory’s 16th goal of the season won us our first point v Portsmouth, with Berahino’s adding the other two. They both get the same in Meaningful Goals, with Storey getting half a point for giving us a two goal lead. 8. Love a big crowd. Massive burger fan queue, car park fuller than usual. Lovely vibe outside. Come on Wednesday.
  9. There’s actually two more. But I googled it as I had forgotten the about the one footlikea… mentioned.
  10. Mark Smith actually fell well short. He got 11 that season, Franny Lee got 15 in 71-72. Football history being reset in 1992 seemingly and an obsession with calendar years for some reason is hampering my Google searching.
  11. Mark Smith - looked like he might break Franny Lee’s record (wonder if he still has that, suppose I could google it) for the most scored in a season at one point during the 79-80 season. He just fell short in the end. Tommy Craig Steve MacLean Mel Sterland John Sheridan
  12. Where’s the source for that please Tyllaun? Because the Health & Safety Executive report in the Taylor Report says the opposite. That says there were actually less fans than the capacity in the Lepp. Also, the outside footage does not show any late surge - it’s chaos from around 2:15.

  14. Gregory’s hat trick got us all three points at Fleetwood, and earned him a massive seven points in Meaningful Goals. His first and third put us in front so are worth two each with him getting one for the equaliser. He now has a big lead in both tables. 16. Playing it out from the back is the biggest kid of bollocks to have entered the game in the last few years.
  17. I’m ok with that team. We’ve ended up with too much choice at centre half which I think is why he’s changing it a bit too much there. Only other conundrum is who should partner Gregory. Not sure Paterson is an awful choice, Berahino’s not looked too clever last couple of games, and no one else is a natural striker. I know that last statement equally applies to Paterson, but he has scored a reasonable amount for us when playing there. Wing backs and midfield trio are the right choices imo.
  18. Cunningham doesn’t belong in that list - crucial part of the promotion winning side. He got his money back on a couple of the others too, but on the whole I agree, he wasn’t good when he had money to spend.
