  1.  Brilliant night’s results for us.  Apart from everything else, our next two opponents getting beat 3-0 and 5-0 by teams with little to play for suggests they are not in great shape.  Added to us having a day’s rest more than Stoke, it presents our best opportunity yet to get out of the bottom three.  Get it fucking done Wednesday.  Let’s have a day out at the Stadium of Light knowing we’re already safe.

  2. This constant droning on about playing out from the back from the bloody commentators is driving me nuts.  As another poster just mentioned the first goal came from a throw in that was defended abysmally.  Just because you make one mistake doesn’t mean you’ve got to keep making them.  And just because one guy drops a massive bollock doesn’t mean everyone needs to join in.  We need to be mentally stronger. As soon as it goes wrong playing out from defence it’s like everybody goes to pieces psychologically.

Who needs to go to work to hustle for another dollar?

According to the International Labour Organisation approximately 61% of the human race have a job.  Clearly Blades and Scousers part of the minority.

Until Rohl came in there's never been a true synergy between academy and first team.  It's why I banged on about downgrading and creating a B team

There wasn't even true cohesion between u15/16s and the first-year scholarship group which is why we always used to hold open trials at U18s. The 18s, 23s (as then was) and the first team all played different styles depending on who was in the squads which became a major reason why we used to release so many.

Rohl has everyone from u15 upwards playing the same way and has instigated a coach the coaches programme coupled with the likes of Vaulks doing his coaching hours in there as well.

It's stuff like this that makes me feel Rohl is here for the duration. If he came in thinking fuck it I'm off if we're relegated then I don't think he'd have spent this much time and effort on the academy

    I hope this is right.

Palmer has become very vocal about saying how this player and that would be great fits for clubs they're currently not at.

There's a few clubs not happy with him, especially Brest, over his comments on Karamoko Dembele, and Celtic around Mikey Johnston.

Don't know if he's picking up fees but a few in my world think he's acting as a mouthpiece for certain agents.

Sounds extremely plausible.  Was probably skint about two years after he retired.  Too thick to be a manager.  Too much of a loose canon for regular, well paid punditry.

  6. Well that was utterly awful, a massive kick in the teeth.  All we can hope for is that Bernard’s return from injury causes the “fannying around with it at the back” to generally result in possession retention, and the likes of Poveda and Bannan having a platform to play.  Instead of creating a string of chances for the opposition without them even needing to play well.

Tbh they would steal the flag, make cheap copies of it and then hack into your computer so you buy one.

But they wouldn’t change it because some brand consultant thought it was a good idea, then make anyone who asks “why the fuck did you do that” sound like a drooling bigot.

  8. That tweet by Nike is the infuriating thing about this.  Don’t get me wrong, I am not particularly bothered about the flag of St George.  It is not my national flag, that is the Union Jack. But openly boasting on social media about making a “playful update” to it, in the name of fucking whatever, is nauseating corporate arrogance, mixed with the recent trend for corporate virtue signalling.  Doesn’t really matter whether it is the flag of the UK, England, or Yorkshire, who the fuck are Nike to make “playful updates” to it?  Well other than massive corporate sponsors from the country that culturally pollutes the rest of the world, and has been doing for decades.  Despite their awful human rights record, there is a little part of me than actually would quite like to see China replace the Yanks as the World’s number one economy, and this shit is a perfect example of why.

@Tewksbury when Rohl came in I posted about the difference between Munoz training regime and Rohl's and the main difference is volume.

Munoz's pre session was disrupted by the massive heatwave and Rohl's probably would have been as well. In Spain he had them training at 11pm to try and beat the heat. Other teams changed their plans and went to Scandinavia and the Alps instead.

But when the squad got back he'd decided to copy the zonal system he'd used at Watford. The physical training for zonal is completely different to the constant press with overlaps and quick beaks. It's akin to the difference between training for the 400m and 1500m. Zonal should be 10-15m shuttles to cover your area. Problem was the players were being overrun and having to cover more ground. That's why we were blowing out of our arses after 70mins and why Rohl had to rotate a bit while he got everyone up to the right levels. In all his early press conferences all he talks about is levels of fitness. When he got his hands on the data he must have cried. I would have done.

If Rohl had arrived in early July then basic fitness training would have been different. Recruitment would have been different. It might not have seen much of a change in results in August but September would probably have been a lot different. There's no doubt we would have been fitter and wouldn't have faded in games.

I’ve never quite managed to get my head round why XM, who had a 58% win ratio at Watford, was such a disaster at Wednesday.  But this post does add a lot of clarity.

  10. Sandor Martin is a decent shout as a stepping stone to a world title.  He’s been in with world class opposition, and he’s highly ranked by the WBC.

Ohara Davies is 32 and just got knocked out by a 41 year old Venezuelan. Dalton would gain nothing by beating him, well other than more experience.

He can’t wait forever.  He will never get a world title shot against anybody he’s a strong favourite against, the division is just too good.

  11. Other points to consider…

With Haney, Lopez, Garcia and Prograis, there is a hell of a lot of talent in that division.  If he waits for an easy route to a world title he’ll be waiting a long time.

Dalton is 27.  That is still young enough to challenge for a world title, lose and learn from it.  Very few fighters who lose their first fight after 30 come back better.  In fact I’m struggling to think of any.

Even a close defeat against any of the four guys mentioned above would leave him making a lot more money for future fights.
