  1. Did you go to Birkdale? Plenty of love off the head boy?
  2. I missed that. Nobody who was a real Wednesday fan, however fair weather, would ever use that fucking word to describe us. Unbelievable.
  3. Four points from the first two of those games. That post has aged well. 🤨
  4. Stay up and we are the top side in Sheffield all Summer…
  5. Brilliant night’s results for us. Apart from everything else, our next two opponents getting beat 3-0 and 5-0 by teams with little to play for suggests they are not in great shape. Added to us having a day’s rest more than Stoke, it presents our best opportunity yet to get out of the bottom three. Get it fucking done Wednesday. Let’s have a day out at the Stadium of Light knowing we’re already safe.
  6. This constant droning on about playing out from the back from the bloody commentators is driving me nuts. As another poster just mentioned the first goal came from a throw in that was defended abysmally. Just because you make one mistake doesn’t mean you’ve got to keep making them. And just because one guy drops a massive bollock doesn’t mean everyone needs to join in. We need to be mentally stronger. As soon as it goes wrong playing out from defence it’s like everybody goes to pieces psychologically.
  7. I’ve said it before. The Blades are our rivals. The Millers are our retarded stalkers.
  8. West Brom will be guaranteed play offs by the time we play them. I’ve thought for ages that could be the minor detail that tips things our way.
  9. There’s bound to be examples like this. The thing about stats and algorithms is they will keep being refined and improving. Early attempts at using data to analyse performance showed Paulo Maldini wasn’t a very good defender because he didn’t make many tackles…
  10. I’m guessing kind of 4-2-3-1 with Smith up front, Poveda and Ugbo out wide and Windass in the trequartista role? But yeah, two midfield destroyers sitting would make more sense. I have a feeling this will either be a total disaster or a pleasant surprise, Ipswich or Millwall.
  11. According to the International Labour Organisation approximately 61% of the human race have a job. Clearly Blades and Scousers part of the minority.
  12. Sounds extremely plausible. Was probably skint about two years after he retired. Too thick to be a manager. Too much of a loose canon for regular, well paid punditry.
  13. Well that was utterly awful, a massive kick in the teeth. All we can hope for is that Bernard’s return from injury causes the “fannying around with it at the back” to generally result in possession retention, and the likes of Poveda and Bannan having a platform to play. Instead of creating a string of chances for the opposition without them even needing to play well.
  14. But they wouldn’t change it because some brand consultant thought it was a good idea, then make anyone who asks “why the fuck did you do that” sound like a drooling bigot.
  15. That tweet by Nike is the infuriating thing about this. Don’t get me wrong, I am not particularly bothered about the flag of St George. It is not my national flag, that is the Union Jack. But openly boasting on social media about making a “playful update” to it, in the name of fucking whatever, is nauseating corporate arrogance, mixed with the recent trend for corporate virtue signalling. Doesn’t really matter whether it is the flag of the UK, England, or Yorkshire, who the fuck are Nike to make “playful updates” to it? Well other than massive corporate sponsors from the country that culturally pollutes the rest of the world, and has been doing for decades. Despite their awful human rights record, there is a little part of me than actually would quite like to see China replace the Yanks as the World’s number one economy, and this shit is a perfect example of why.
  16. I’ve never quite managed to get my head round why XM, who had a 58% win ratio at Watford, was such a disaster at Wednesday. But this post does add a lot of clarity.

Sandor Martin is a decent shout as a stepping stone to a world title. He’s been in with world class opposition, and he’s highly ranked by the WBC. Ohara Davies is 32 and just got knocked out by a 41 year old Venezuelan. Dalton would gain nothing by beating him, well other than more experience. He can’t wait forever. He will never get a world title shot against anybody he’s a strong favourite against, the division is just too good.

Other points to consider… With Haney, Lopez, Garcia and Prograis, there is a hell of a lot of talent in that division. If he waits for an easy route to a world title he’ll be waiting a long time. Dalton is 27. That is still young enough to challenge for a world title, lose and learn from it. Very few fighters who lose their first fight after 30 come back better. In fact I’m struggling to think of any. Even a close defeat against any of the four guys mentioned above would leave him making a lot more money for future fights.
  19. They definitely didn’t get “battered”. They had opportunities in all of the games they lost. This series does show the limitations of the Bazball approach though. Taking the pressure off people and creating a no fear environment where you can try things and be proactive works up to a point. If your goal is to turn around a team that are generally losing to one that are generally winning. However generally winning is not the same thing as being the best in the World. When you’re trying to beat one of the two best sides around on their own turf the risk v reward calculations need to get a lot smarter. Relentless positivity and always “going for it” ain’t gonna do the job.

He’s ready for a world title shot. That was a guy it took Regis Prograis 11 rounds to get rid of. It wasn’t even a particularly risky shot that put the guy away. Interesting that Eddie Hearn didn’t seem particularly happy about Dalton calling out Azim. He’s probably right. It would be nice for him to pick up a European title, but at this stage of his career he needs to aim higher. Azim is not ranked in the top 15 by any world title body, he’s less of a name than Zepeda on the other side of the pond.
  21. Very ordinary side by Brazil standards, as recent form suggests. Their only real attacking threats are Vini Jnr and Maguire’s fuck ups.
  22. Also, some of the players need to look at themselves after that. A basic lack of determination defending your own box is not down to how the team is set up when in possession.
  23. We don’t draw many with Röhl. He picks and sets up his sides to get at the opposition’s weaknesses. Yep, when the wheels come off they really do come off. With a more cautious approach we’d basically already be down, but yes we may have avoided any single game as embarrassing as today. I don’t want to get relegated while avoiding any really humiliating results.
