  1. That article says ”The England youth international, 20, has agreed terms with the League One giants.” If we’re getting him on loan, surely we agree terms with Forest. Forest continue to pay him according to his contract and we pay Forest a proportion of the wage and/or a loan fee? Am I missing something? Or are the agreed terms to do with hospitality boxes and the like?
  2. I agree. A straight swap for Gallagher might be about right, but Broja and £25m on top, no way. I saw a quote attributed to Gordon a week ago saying something like “I need to be at a top club to get into the England World Cup squad”. Now England might be lacking in options up front, but this smacked of delusion on a grand scale.
  3. It’s not winning the competition that’s embarrassing, it’s being in it that’s embarrassing. We can’t do anything about being in it, so we might as well try* and win it. Although getting knocked out won’t be difficult to take. There are plenty of past winners in the division above us. And it’s not long since Southampton won it. * Try, but without risking key players needed in the league.
  4. He’s still a Leicester player isn’t he? Nowhere near first team? Transfer a possibility, but not certain, all a bit quiet. I know he not a kid anymore, but when else is he going to get a game?
  5. Looking ahead a little bit, but could Hirst Jnr be in line for a return to Hillsborough?
  6. I’ve given it a couple of nights before posting, but I’m still a bit disappointed with how the game progressed on Saturday. Is it just me? I’ll get the caveat in first. I appreciate that it’s the points that count and having secured them at half time it’s mainly about seeing the game out whilst minimising the risk of fatigue and injuries. And five goals is nothing to sneeze at, but… But I left the ground feeling short changed. At 4-0 I was hoping for a thumping win. I don’t think I’ve ever seen us score 8. It’s years since a 7. Why not go for 10? It wasn’t beyond the realms of possibility if we’d have stuck to the task. I’d like, just once, to see us get a truly big score. FGR we’re worse than Cheltenham last season when similar happened and we stuck at 6. What made it worse for me was seeing the Scouser’s go from 5 at half time. They didn’t sit back and take it easy second half. Neither did Celtic yesterday. Top teams don’t reflex until the final whistle: and we’re a top team in this league. Did nice chap Darren Moore feel sorry for them? If so, leave that for full time. But it’s not just the lack of second half goals. I was hoping when the subs came on that we’d see whether Adeniran really can be a future replacement for Bannan. Let’s see whether the hype about Wilks has been justified. Give him something to chase down the channels or behind the big defenders. But no, neither showed anything much. That’s not to aim criticism their way: when the rest of the team is playing walking football, it’s difficult for anyone else to get going. And whilst we rested legs, it seems that we rested minds too. There was a lot of sloppy passes in the second half. Players just not concentrating. All in all, a good first half, second half was a stroll, but a wasted opportunity, and somewhat disappointing.
  7. Connor Wickham And from last week’s quiz, Paul Warhurst.
  8. I think there’s only 6) and 13) left.
  9. 3) 1889 7) 1982 beating Rainworth Miners Welfare 3-0 at Wembley. 😎 None. Lost twice in final. 1999 0-1 to Kingstonian. 2001 0-1 to Canvey Island.
  10. All correct. Bill Clinton apparently went vegan after a heart scare and has “never felt fitter”.
  11. I’m not sure that it does. Are we above FGR because we have the better coach or the better players? Or both? I don’t think it follows that because a team is in a higher league position they must therefore have the better coach. Other factors might outweigh the coaching factor. Just for clarity: I’m not suggesting that Moore is an inferior coach to FGR’s. Just questioning that the quality of coach solely defines league ranking.
  12. That’s close enough. Sam Leitch.
  13. 2, 3, 6-8, 13, 15, 16, 19 remaining.
  14. 4) 10) Correct 5) No 13) I’m assuming you mean 12). Correct, but what is the energy company?
  15. Correct. Do you know which place should he have said?
  16. They’ll be dancing in the streets of Forest Green if Rovers pick up three points tomorrow. So what do you know about FGR? Before the FRG questions; the quote used above, “they’ll be dancing in the streets of…” originally referred to where? Which commentator/ presenter is credited with the original blunder? When was Forest Green football club formed (“Rovers” was added bit later)? Which Gunner is a significant shareholder in FGR? For a short period in the 1980/90s the club changed its name. What is the town that it was named after? Quorn is a major sponsor of FGR. Alongside Rank Hovis McDougall, which well known U.K. company initially developed quorn? In what year did FGR win the FA Vase? How many times has FGR won the FA Trophy? Which former FGR manager was poached from the then non-league club by a mediocre Yorkshire club? Who has managed FGR in the EFL and was once linked with the head coach’s role at Wednesday? Name the Wednesday legend. 95-02 Plymouth 02-04 Wednesday (11 games) 03 Swindon (loan) 03-04 Macclesfield (loan) 04 Bristol Rovers 04-05 Kidderminster 05 Forest Green Rovers (25 games) 05-08 Salisbury City 12. Who is the chairman of FGR and which “green” energy company did he found? 13. Which diminutive defender effectively ended his career at Forest Green having previously also racked up over 100 premier league appearance for Forest? 14. Which Wednesday trainee made just a single appearance for Wednesday and a single appearance on loan to Forest Green before a nomadic career in the lower leagues, including a season at Forest Green (44 apps), and is now coaching at Exeter? Famous people from Nailsworth: none, not even former soap stars. Well actually there’s sort of one. 15. Raised in Nailsworth, but born in Seattle, this three times Olympic gold medalist rower shares (almost) a name with the footballer left trailing by Maradona after the Hand of God. So what about some famous vegans? 16. Monica’s boss in the big house on Pennsylvania Ave. 17. Manchester Arena artist at the time of the 2017 bombing. 18. 80s/90s Olympic gold medalist in sprint and long jump. 19. To be frank, this author has a monster reputation. 20. Independienti, Atletico Madrid, Man City, Barcelona.
  17. I was thinking more on how the statement reflected on our coach not being all that much.
  18. You may not have high regard for the “bloke behind the preview” but how many posters on here would agree with his observation that, “Wednesday may have the better individual midfielders, like Barry Bannan and George Byers, but Forest Green are the better coached side”?
  19. We’re not as desperate for players as we have been several times in recent years, so if Forest or any other club were to attach play or pay conditions to a loan deal then we should walk away. Unless we can get a Tammy Abraham type that went to Bristol City.
  20. Stockdale Iorfa Ihiekwe McGuinness Palmer Byers Bannan Bakinson Johnson Gregory Windass Wilks can come on as a second half sub.
