  1. I’m talking about Palmer trying to shepherd it back to the keeper from about 12 yards, that led to the rushed clearance.
  2. Some dogger displays out there for us so far. Ihiekwe, Windass and Fletcher have been pretty dreadful. Palmer has been crap in possession but good when they have it. Not sure what Palmer was trying to do on the goal. Fletcher is offering nothing, he’s not trying to turn them, he keeps coming short when everyone else is short. Our full backs and seem our most likely threat at the minute. But, they are comfortable at the minute. That Kasey Palmer is a physical beast, we are bouncing off him.
  3. The irony in all this is that if Everton are punished again, and Forest punished and appeals are unsuccessful, there is a chance that further deductions will come. Which in turn increases the pigs chances of stopping up. What would be funny is that if Forest end up with 10 off, Everton with 20 off, and the pigs still go down!
  4. I’m assuming that Port Vale will be awarded the result and that Reading will likely get another points deduction.
  5. I’m not convinced that Rohl is a fan of Byers at all. His lack of mobility and legs has really been noticeable at this level, and in a side that wants to press, he’s struggled big time.
  6. It was an odd game that. We ended the first half with Des at full back and lashing a shot over the bar. And then started the second half with Palmer at right back and Des back at centre half.
  7. They’ve televised City v Huddersfield here. Looking at the fixtures, there’s no obvious upset opportunities although Blackpool are now winning at Forest.
  8. I thought the two Sunderland full backs were awful. They lacked pace and were easy to get past, but, they were so susceptible to the press. I’d fancy us against them up there.
  9. What was scary was the gulf in quality, Newcastle are a good side but out of form. Sunderland are a good Championship side and at home. Newcastle didn’t come out of 1st gear and walked that game. You can see why the current bottom three of the premier league are the three promoted teams. That said, we rolled Newcastle last season in the cup (albeit a weakened Newcastle side).
  10. I can’t stand him. I really can’t. He’s a pseudo smart person in that he’s intelligent but lacks the even basic levels of common sense that most of the human race have, it’s why he gets in so much trouble both on and off the pitch. The whole comment about Ward and Eluko, it’s just wrong. I’ve no issue in him airing grievances, and in some cases I would agree with him. But, what he said, and then doubled down is ridiculous - and again points at the pseudo intelligence element. Id say he’s probably guaranteed he’s not getting a job in English football. So the sooner he buggers off to the Middle East the better.
  11. Wednesday fans scrapping with each other in the stands at Notts County, largely between those who wanted Turner out and those who didn’t.
  12. He did actually know English when he moved to England. The challenge was that he’d not used it. But, and I can vouch for this. 2-3 hours a week and daily exposure, you will pick up conversational language really quickly. What is impressive is that he’s correcting himself, and he’s not thinking about his responses. So it’s automated. As a footballer, I like him, he can deal with wingers, he’s very quick. He’s direct going forward. He’ll be a good player.
  13. I’d take a lower league side at home next round, even if it means we can use some of the younger players. Priority has to be the league, but, the extra games might help some of the squad players.
  14. Rotherham fans really rated Coventry and Blackpool fans loved Fiorini. Both would give us legs and would suit a side that likes to press. Fiorini is a lovely footballer.
  15. Whole heartedly agree. He’s been great for us, and if he gets a move, he’s earned it. He’s clearly good enough for the division below.
  16. What a post that was. And what a calamity that season ended up being. The lowest point of my Wednesday supporting life happened that season. Away at Chesterfield and watching journeyman striker Glynn Hurst rip Dean Smith to shreds as Chesterfield battered us 3-1 at Saltergate. Or on Easter Monday where we scraped a 0-0 draw at Notts County, who had not won a game for months. Or even at Luton, 2-0 up and losing 3-2, and me getting kicked off radio Sheffield for swearing mid rant about Chris Turner. Yet, after 45 minutes at Swindon on that sweltering August Saturday, it seemed so easy… 3-0 up and cruising. Kuqi and Owusu dominating… yet the warning signs were there then. Second half collapse and us hanging on to get the win, we all thought it was just a blip, but it was the shape of things to come. The Four Marys could have come back to haunt us had that season gone on another two weeks. We would have gone down.
  17. One or two people have told me today that things are a real mess behind the scenes at Brum.
  18. That’s a blow. He was absolutely taking Birmingham down. It’s a vastly underperforming squad and the right appointment would get them up the league quickly.
  19. I think he sees left back as a critical position and purely because I think he wants an orthodox defensive left back with Johnson playing as an attacking full back. Famewo is a good player, but better inside.
  20. I think we need 12 wins from 22 games. So, 36 points. We have 5 games between now and the end of Jan, we need to avoid needing 12 wins from 17 games. So any critical business we do needs to be early. I can understand why Rohl has put DC under pressure to get things done early.
  21. RIP Beastie. I met him a few times, larger than life character. So sad for his family and friends. Was also the very first person to respond to my first ever post on here back in the Rival days.
  22. Their threat came from an inside out wide man and a proper 10. Decent full backs can handle that, the 10 played inside left and drifted in and out with the ball to create overloads. Famewo, who I rate, is not a full back and neither is Johnson. Palmer needed help from Byers but didn’t get it. Our issue is that without the ball, there is always a weak side of the pitch and a hole to plug, Vaulks and Bannan get moved about all day to fill holes. If we address the full backs, and even get someone alongside Vaulks we close the door. We want Bannan playing 30 yards out, with movement to his left and right and down the middle. And if not Bannan, a 10 who can play. And Bailey needs help, you can see he’s a top player, but he needs someone to take the pressure off. I like Musaba and Gassama, but they need a stretched game to work. Windass is perfect as a 10 if he has a unit ahead of him, he can do the wide forward spots too. If we have any chance of staying up. We need 25 goals, two full backs, help for Vaulks and a 10. Plus a keeper.
  23. Had the pigs on the TV and us on the phone. You’ll not see a more comical three goals than the three that Luton scored today. The pigs were the better side, but like us, are shit in both boxes. Just a comparison, the pigs net spend this summer was about 60 million. Luton spent just over 20 million.
  24. He’s got to magic up two players who will score 25 goals between them in the remaining games. He also needs two full backs and a player who can do the Bannan role. We also need an upgrade on George Byers, he just doesn’t have the legs at this level.
  25. Game over. That second has come against the run of play and again, the difference in quality is clear as day. We are suffering a lack of attacking quality, the build up is ok, the finish is not. Fletcher is a pub player, he reacts to the ball down the line rather than make the run. We can’t fault the effort, but Xisco’s summer business and the reliance on new contracts for average players in the league below has done us. Results have gone against us, we need snookers.
