How is he getting away with murder?

He might be clueless and have no vision beyond what he's having for his tea tonight but we're not mortgaged to the hilt, we're not in debt to the likes of Macquarie, and we're not on the high court steps again.

Mandaric didn't spend the money either for the club to reach it's potential when it was arguably easier to get out of the division (and he'd have made more money) but he's revered like a God. Yes he 'saved' us but he made a handsome profit for himself and was willing to sell us to any chancer he thought he could make that profit from. God only knows what state the club would have been in if the Mamadov deal had gone through.

We're 13th in the domestic trophies list, behind Wolves and Blackburn. The last time we won the 1st division was 1930 and the FA Cup in 1935. Last time won Div 2 was 1959.  We weren't a big club under Wilkinson. We weren't under Atkinson or Francis either. The last time we had a real chance to push on and create something that could have lasted was after we'd finished 2nd in 60/61. But we didn't.

If we did things right and put the right structure in and growth model then we might be a consistent top 10 Championship team, with the odd flirt with the play offs, in 3-4 years. We'd be another West Brom, Bristol City, Middlesbrough. But if we got anywhere near that level then our fanbase would be screaming to spend spend spend if we were in the top 6 in January and then that model goes out the window or the chairman out boos start for not spending.

I agree with everything you have said Ty.

Our fans seem to think that it’s our right to be in the prem, and they think by driving the owner out, it will allow that to happen.

The fact is that our ONLY two years of actual success in the last 25 years have come under him.

Yes, he dropped the ball on the points deduction, but beyond that point, what has he actually done wrong that other owners haven’t also done. Bad managerial appointments? They all do that. Bad transfers? Yep, they all do that. We can’t even argue that he’s not backed our managers. Darren Moore signed something like 25 players. This season we have brought in more than 10.

He’s got the wage bill down, we aren’t in any danger of FFP, and we actually have academy players knocking on the door.

As you have said, we actually only owe money to the owner. There is no third party involved. If he decides to sell, it’s a doddle to do a deal because you pay him for the lot.

But he moved Gassama out wide when he'd been doing just that so he's culpable

Gassama doesn’t drop in. In a midfield three the most advanced has to play both ways. Gassama works as a 10 without defensive responsibility, but with it, especially away from home, he doesn’t work.

Away from home, we have two 10’s in a three. Bannan and Windass. At home you can open up a bit.

I agree to a fashion in that he is dealt a shit hand.

However I still think it should deflect from some of his selections last few games. Why abandon 3 in midfield, Vaulks not playing etc

He’s been hurt by Windass not being available again. When he plays as a 10 he drops in when the other team has the ball an occupies the deep midfield player.

I made a comment that if we didn’t sign a 6, we had to sign a 10. We’ve got one now, so let’s see what happens.

On Vaulks, it’s an odd one. He should play. I understand Diaby not playing. At 46 I’m more mobile.

  4. Can we please absolve the current coach from this mess and give him a pass, at least until next August.

He is not to blame for the summers recruitment, he’s not to blame for the players not being nearly good enough for this level.

IF he reshapes the squad and we seem the same issues, no worries.

He has a clear way he wants to play, but because of our piss poor squad, he’s had to play a striker as a 10, has a load of shit central midfield players he didn’t sign, and a defensive unit with very little Championship level cover.

I’ll make this very clear. Munoz has done us.

  5. Rinse and repeat.

Forcing someone out will not solve any problem.

Chansiri will go when someone makes an offer for the club. Provides proof of funds to the owner and does due diligence on the accounts. Agrees price. Completes the fit and proper test.

What these groups don’t understand is that he would happily sell. But someone has to come forward to sell too and the Bobs Carpets and John the Car Washer, who they would propose, haven’t got the beans to even but a brick in the South Stand.

Chansiri needs to get Rohl in his office tomorrow and ask him if he's committing to next season or not. No ifs buts or maybe, it's sign here or see the season out and thanks for your effort.

Then the next manager search starts now and not at the end of the season so the new man gets a full pre season and transfer window

    I agree Ty.

You can’t blame Rohl for the squad. That’s down to DC and Xisco. But, DC needs to have a two way commitment with Rohl. One that he’s not blaming him for this season, but, that Rohl commits to next season.

You and I both know that Chansiri will not do that. And I would not be shocked if Rohl isn’t here next weekend.

What Rohl says post game will be interesting.

  7. Just poor from the point of the first goal. On top until that point. We’ve been done by individual errors.

    Yes, some simply bad displays.

Pedersen has been poor and been done for pace. Smith, awful. Ugbo is not a 10. We carried people.

On paper I thought that the side was the right side. Defensive back four to give us more freedom. But, you just can’t excuse the mistakes from the wingers, Pedersen and Bernard - they were all bad bad mistakes.

    We need snookers.

Johnson did want to leave but they wouldn’t pay Wednesday. I think we can extend his contract so he may not be happy about that.

Mid way through the first half Huddersfield looked an average L1 side but finished the half looking a bit better. We looked better in midfield before they put wiles in there now it’s looking difficult. I guess they will get the chances as we really need to risk pushing men forward second half

It’s two against three in midfield now.

  9. Fury v Usyk off. The cut that Fury has got looks horrific, but, the boxing fraternity have suggested it might not go ahead for two weeks now, as Fury has been taking a pasting in sparring.

Unless Usyk fights Hrgovic, it’s also the end of the undisputed dream as the IBF were stripping winner on the 18th.

It looks like if Fury doesn’t fight before the end of May he will lose the WBC and Usyk will be given mandatory. I’ve read somewhere that it’s the 12th Tyson Fury fight that has either been postponed or he’s pulled out of.

  10. I’d love Rohl to get properly backed when we get ourselves on a more even keel financially. He’s getting a tune from a lot of average players, be good to see what he can do with a better calibre.

If we stay up, he stays, and we have a bit more of a budget and a full pre-season. We could really shock some teams.

  11. A few of my blade mates have said that they’ve not got the Wilder that got them into the premier league top 10. But they’ve got the one who spent 150 million on shite, blamed every defeat on everyone else but himself and deservedly got sacked.

One of my mates has said that Wilder’s way to sort this out was to get them to run about a bit more and be somehow less organised.

I watched that Palace game, they should have lost by 5 or 6.

Can play a more attacking, less defensive midfielder like Hendrick then...

Quite possibly. But Rohl is all about trusting people, you can see that he trusts Palmer, Vaulks and Bannan. He may, over time, trust Diaby. I don’t think he trusts Hendrick, he didn’t trust Byers, and I’m not sure he fancied Buckley.

He so focussed on the press that he wants all of his midfield players to close the gap really quickly when the opposition turns into trouble.

  13. I’ll tell you how Pedersen helps us out in midfield. He’s a defender first and foremost, so in some away games we can play him instead of Johnson and just have Pol as the runner. This means we always have the coverage of three which takes the pressure off the midfield lads to fill in fullback positions when both Johnson and Pol go.

I think it’s a clever signing because he’s an orthodox left back who is a good defender, and strong in the air.
