  1. We got that completely right defensively. But, you can’t switch off for a second. Famewo has switched off, there’s always an argument that Valentin or Musaba should put more pressure on the ball there.

I am not going out and taking the break off yet. We need to get to 70 minutes and then start opening the game up.

  2. Absolute peach of a ball. But not great from Famewo.

We’ve been comfortable aside from the two times that Bambo has played them all onside.

Not offering much with the ball because we are sitting with 6 and none of them are trying to get beyond the ball.

  3. I am surprised and a little perplexed by that team. He’s moving his back three around, I have to assume that Bernard is moving right and Diaby in the middle. The dropping of Vaulks and Ihiekwe is odd because they both are players who can face up to pressure and are leaders. I have no issue with Palmer coming in, but ahead of Diaby ideally.

He’s gone with mobility because Leeds are stacked with pace. But, he’s bringing risk in with both Famewo and Diaby who both have a horror mistake in them.

    Front three makes sense.

Lets see how it plays out.

  4. I have two stories.

One at Coventry in a Wetherspoons, we were in early (there were six of us). He comes up and asks if we are Wednesday; ‘Yes, Ricky we are.’ Five mins later, my round at the bar, bought six beers. He follows me up, picks two of the drinks up and walks off.

Another time away at Hartlepool when we won 5-0. He comes in absolutely hammered, sits down, falls asleep, wakes up just before half time, instead of taking the steps he decides to go down to the bottom of the stand by climbing over the seats and falls over in every single row. Stewards meet him at the bottom, gets ejected from the ground, but ends up back in the stand for the last 10 minutes after coming back in when they opened the exits!!!

This could help Bambo in the long run.

Bambo's great at the physical stuff and getting something on the ball, it's his decision making that's a bit suspect.

Iorfa is the same sort, always looks much better with an old head next to him organising stuff.

Bambo should not be allowed to do anything other than mark people.

There was a moment last night where he’s spare, and he literally loses all sense of where he is on the pitch, and finds himself stood next to Ihiekwe who then pushes him out.

  6. Better side for 65 minutes, just lacked footballers and football nouse in that last 15 minutes. Lots of wrong decisions made by the two Diaby’s and Gassama that kept letting them have the ball back. But, aside from that long ranger, Beadle hasn’t had to save anything and Ihiekwe made a few blocks. But deserved to win it for that first 65 minutes. Some good displays. The starting back three were good as were the two wing backs. Vaulks was good in the first 70 minutes. Poveda man of the match. And it really changed when we didn’t have Bannan and him on the pitch when it came to ball retention.

Massive win and now completely in our own hands now. Any form of positive result on Friday is a bonus.

  7. I’m not convinced by any English coach. I don’t blame Howe for the slide in Newcastle, but, he will carry the can even though they are not as rich as they seem. Potter can’t get a job anywhere at the minute. Gary O’Neil is doing a brilliant job, but I want to judge him after 3 years of management.

Even when you look down the leagues, lower divisions are now thinking abroad is a better option.

Pep gives him the freedom. Southgate, if he plays him, will set him up to be so rigid he might as well not be there.

England need to persuade Pep to be the next manager if they want to see the best out of this current crop of players.

His best position is the right of a three, Pep doesn’t overly trust him as a proper 10, but he is good there. He can’t play deeper. His issue for England is that Bellingham will play the 10, and Saka will play the right which means Foden goes left.

  9. Rotherham were awful. I expected them to come out and make it a scrap, but they were outfought, outrun and outthought. We were comfortable throughout, and our only issue was us not taking our chances.

Defensively, we didn’t have to deal with much. But our midfield and attack caused issues all the way through the game, and that extended to the subs.

We now go into two home games needing at least one win. But, if we play well, we can get something from Leeds.

  10. That game stood out for two reasons.

One, the absolute pasting that Man Utd fans took all over Sheffield. And I mean pastings. Any sign of a Mancunian accent and they were at best chased, and at worse, given a hefty clip. It was known before hand in terms of what was going to happen to them.

Two, this was my first intro to the monster that was Roy Keane. He ran the show, to the extent that Carlton Palmer did not want any part of that battle. Keane went through Palmer and Hyde like they were under 10’s. Immense display.

The Santos lunge is vile and like Keane/Haaland was premeditated, undrthecosh covers this game in a few episodes, Meggo put Warnock in his place.

I went to an evening with Meggo. Warnock shit his pants when Meggo fronted him. Claimed also back by a couple of his own players.

Some of the West Brom players wanted it post game and the United players snuck out of a side door.

  12. It’s hard to say this out loud. But, I live in a country where all cities are throwing money at the infrastructure. The scale at which Cities change in Poland year or year is quite astonishing - I’m talking almost Middle East levels of investment coming in via the EU and monstrous businesses relocating.

Now, in the last 2 months, I have visited Sheffield. Sorry to say this, but the City centre itself is just a massive slum. The outlying areas are decent, but the centre is horrific. It’s light years behind what you see in places like Manchester and Leeds, and even falling behind some of the larger towns in the area? I spent last week working in London, yes, it’s the capital city, yes, it’s a building site - but it changes every time I visit (which is monthly).

I agree with Reesh about the village mentality, it’s not just the council, but the people too. The two Sheffield clubs will never amount to more than that, but I would take a run in the prem over being a 2nd/3rd division team any day of the week. But we, as a city, don’t have the pull of the teams and cities around us and that extends to billionaire owners who might want a dabble.

Everton given 4 points back !!

    Sandwiches out everyone to celebrate.

I’m not going to get too excited yet. I think they have a second charge to now fight which could mean further points.

I full expect Wilder and Sean Bean to march to the Houses of Parliament to protest with their Matalan tracksuits on and Umbro trainers off.

I think, as Hoyland says, we stay up we keep him and Rőhl.

Ugbo seems to be flourishing under Danny too.

Still a task to stay up but if we do I'm confident that the summer rebuild and next season will be good.

I agree, we stay up and we keep Rohl, and I am 99% certain we’ll get Poveda, Ugbo and convince Bernard to stay, and we’ll recruit in a similar ilk to now. I can see us getting Beadle for a season too.

  15. We’ve not had a player like Poveda since Carbone. He comes to life 30 yards out. Doesn’t contribute much further back and likes to play wide to middle.

He’s not like Forestieri, and Lee was more effective coming from deep. Poveda is a proper 10, Forestieri was at his best as the left of a three or up top with a proper striker. Lee, was probably a four in old money.

We are developing a new axis of evil with Palmer, Pol and Poveda. The highlight of that Wednesday team under Gray was Palmer, Lee and Maguire. When they were at it, they were brilliant.

It was but I still think my blood pressure was sky high last 10 minutes plus injury time. 🤣

Interestingly, Rohl got it wrong for the first 5 mins after the red. We played a 4-3-2, and their right back was waltzing up the pitch unopposed. He then went 4-4-1, and forced him inside and we looked safer.

  17. That was actually a very comfortable win. We were better with and without the ball. We created the better chances, Beadle had little to do. We kept shape and discipline, we won the ball back in good areas and our forwards posed different questions.

Very important win and some really good displays from Valentin, Palmer, Vaulks, Poveda and Johnson.

I said at Leicester, that’s our strongest 11, with Palmer either in alongside Ihiekwe, or in alongside Vaulks. We can swap between 5 and 4. I would say that we might have the balance between going all out and having enough attacking threat but being defensively sound.

    Snaps picks.

                                  Beadle.

    Valentin- Palmer- Ihiekwe- Bernard-Johnson

              Poveda- Vaulks- Bannan- Musaba

                                     Ugbo

    Winning side right there Danny.😀

Yep. Will be that team. Could also be a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 too. Palmer is there to give Valentin and Ihiekwe cover. Or, to push Bannan 20 yards up the pitch.

  19. It’s a monstrous rebuild next summer regardless of our division. The ten replacements we thought we’d get this summer are still the same 10 next summer regardless of league.

Bannan gets a deal, but we need to be moving away from him. Vaulks has earned one. Palmer, again, has probably earned one. We need to get Ugbo and Poveda signed up, same for Beadle. Bernard is a must.
