It doesn't matter what it does or can do, they could have had Jet2 flying from there but that would have impacted on Leeds/Bradford, so there was no way that was happening. All they wanted it for, was to do the same as they did to Sheffield Airport, Sell the land for millions. They should be forced to sell the land for the price they paid for Sheffield Airport.
Fat Eric
It's a cracking little airport, don't understand why there's only Tui will fly out of it, surely Easyjet or Ryanair would sell shedloads of seats on routes from there. You would think so... IF whoever owned it REALLY tried to get them to use it. Or UNLESS whoever owned it REALLY wanted it to go down the crapper and made it so it wasn't viable.
Skamp
Wait until all the link roads have been built and a huge grant made and then close it and put houses on the land. Hope DMBC have some balls in the coming years.

Kiwi Owl
Peel proposed to do the same with Teeside Airport back in 2019. Close the airport and use it for housing development. They ended up being bought out by the mayor of Teeside in the end.
MAL
Just one quick google... The Peel Group, a leading infrastructure, transport and real estate investment company in the UK They make more from this at a guess than anything. They had The Trafford Centre and sold it for £1.6 Billion.
