cheat
Pre-amble for any new posters/readers Most of you will be up to speed on the famous Alan Harper Award, but just for any new readers, here's a quick explanation. Points are awarded for misdemeanours throughout the season and the player with the most points at the end of the season takes the prestigious award. Points are awarded as follows, Yellow card - 1 point Penalty conceeded - 2 points Penalty missed - 2 points Red card - 3 points Own goal - 3 points Alan Harper was a squad member of the excellent Everton side of the 80s, who always seemed to have a stormer against us - in fact he scored the first goal against us in the 1985-86 F.A. Cup semi final. So when Wednesday signed him for £275,000 in June 1988 it's fair to say that most Wednesdayites were pretty pleased with the signing. Predictably, he then turned out to be absolute garbage for us. It is not his lack of form that sees this competition named after him though, but his antics in a 4-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, in which he conceeded a penalty, scored an own goal and got booked, an impressive 6 points all in one game. The Alan Harper Award was a mainstay of Cheat fanzine between 1989 and 1996, made a return in War of the Monster Turcks in the 00s, and has been resident on Owlsonline since 2006. The Owlsonline winners of the Alan Harper Award are; 2006-07. Tommy Spurr 2007-08. Jermaine Johnson 2008-09. Mark Beevers 2009-10. Lewis Buxton 2010-11. Giles Coke 2011-12. Reda Johnson 2012-13. MPB
For this season there's the "abysmal, clueless & rank amateur officialling" to take into consideration as well...

Assume he got sent off for the penalty, if so that’s a cracking eight points in the space of three minutes. Impressive stuff.
cheat
A yellow for Luongo sets him up nicely for an end of season fight with Bannan for the title, with Johnson, Paterson, and even possibly Hutch still in the running too. cheat
Bannan’s yellow v Sunderland, for what to my blue and white tinted eyes looked a great tackle, secured him the Alan Harper Award for the second season running. He now moves alongside Hutch with three titles to his name. There were also yellows for Byers and Dean. Barry Bannan 16 Massimo Luongo 14 Marvin Johnson 13 Callum Paterson 13 Sam Hutchinson 12 George Byers 8 Dennis Adeniran 7 Liam Palmer 7 Jaden Brown 6 Jack Hunt 6 Chey Dunkley 5 Lee Gregory 4 Dominic Iorfa 4 Harlee Dean 4 Bailey Peacock-Farrell 2 Olamide Shodipo 2 Jordan Storey 2 Lewis Wing 2 Theo Corbeanu 1 Fisayo Dele-Bashiru 1 Sylla Sow
MPB
I say it again.....the standard of reffing this time round in this league has been abysmal.....we need to be cuter in the dark arts in my opinion.....get the refs and cards to work in our favour.... Tank_Owl2,0
The ref was awful. I was bloody fuming at the bookings he gave to our players and yet every cvnt in red and white seemed to get away with the same 'offence'. The booking for Hunt only seconds after a tackle they made that went unreprimanded was laughable. I think Cheat is right about the tackle BB got booked for. Bannan made sure of this with the odd silly yellow here and there for dissent or squaring up to opponents a foot taller. Crafty old pro 😉
