HoylandOwl
Mooted by Xisco, post the Hull loss. At least he's seeing things.
KrolMong
Unfortunately there’s not much to trust. Bannan can’t do it in a two at this level, Byers possibly can, but you’ll never get more than 30 games out of him. Vaulks isn’t good enough with the ball. Bakinson just isn’t great. Not mobile enough, doesn’t sense danger. No idea about the new guy. It’s a prime reason why Moore went with a three in the third division. Unless we get mobility and craft, we will always have a problem in the middle. Hull absolutely smashed through the middle of our midfield and we actually got worse as the game went on, it was embarrassing at times in the second half on how far off we were. He might have to go to a 5 man midfield and a loan striker just to shore us up a bit.

Hirstys 12th Pint
Perish the thought at the players having to adapt to a new formation. Have they all played the entirety of their career in a 3-5-2 formation ?
owl71
Yes it is good that Xisco is thinking these things over…well it’s what you’d expect anyway. We can’t afford to keep having 28% of possession against mediocre opposition, or we will be in big trouble. It’s actually somewhat encouraging that we managed to score twice while having 28% possession. But the first priority is get some control in games. Angelinblue
We have scored with just about all our shots on target! That won't continue for sure, but if we maintain such low possession we are finished. One player up top never works for us, they are too isolated, we don't have enough pace in the side either as it stands, maybe one of the new players can help with that though? Possession for the sake of possession is pointless, but we can't defend 70% of the game with an ageing side and hope to succeed. We need to create a load more chances and hope we can get on the end of them regularly.

In League 1 this season so far (yes it’s not a huge barometer I know), Lincoln have had little possession (30+%), and hit on the break and won their last 2 games, 2-0, 3-0…. It’s possible. But given a choice I’d us rather have the ball more than that and win
Angelinblue
Regi Blinker scored two goals on his debut for us and only one more in the next 41 games. Strange things can happen in the short term is what I am eluding too, over a longer period things level out.

That's right, but I'd still rather have someone like Blinker in our side than against us. Like JJ after him.
owl71
Having possession without really doing anything isn’t pointless though. It stops the opposition from having the ball, which means they can’t build pressure, and the defence gets a breather. Yes obviously it is better to have the ball and do something with it. But first things first.
