Have we ever had a side so scared of shooting?

I just don't see how we have the players to play with 1 up front. And the wingers on both sides on their wrong foot, is proper doing my box in. Johnson is massively hampered on his right, Windass has offered little on the left (and he's not a winger / wide midfielder anyway).

Waddle was the exception of course, but when you're just class you can do owt. (or he could)

Fletcher does look like he's keen, so maybe he is the missing link? We'll soon see!

Maybe it's because we don't get into good positions? If you don't buy a ticket you won't win the lottery. A bit of pace might create more openings. If you don't get chances and shots In friendly matches when will you?

We went 7 games in 05/06 wiart a goal....this is fuck all.

Not too dissimilar to when Monk was in charge. Harris ('wrong' side) and Murphy on the wings and Fletcher (a different one, obviously) in the middle.

Two wingers every game. Top away scorers. Third at Christmas, before Fletcher got injured and there was no plan B.

I agree with you about Johnson and Windass.

When he played 4-3-3 at Watford it was the full backs that overlapped, going one at a time, and did a lot of the donkey work out wide. Might be why the two new lads have been brought in. They'd be covered by 1 out of the middle 3. The wide player up top, on the side of the overlap , would cut inside to support the main striker, to allow the overlap, which is possibly why Johnson and Windass are being played on their opposite sides. This would then give a top 4 with 2 midfielders just behind. When out of procession Johnson and Windass should drop into the middle, leaving the holding striker, to allow the full back to recover and the middle 3 to reshape.

Not been to any friendlies so can't comment on if this looks like it's trying to happen or if he's trying a variation.

That makes more sense

We haven’t yet got the players to play the system he played at Watford. Certainly in terms of midfielders and forwards. And we have absolutely zero pace beyond Windass. We should address that by the end of the window. If not, the system will need to change.

So no players have left and no new players have signed??

Who is it you think was having all these shots that's left?

Strikers are broadly unchanged with none leaving and only Fletcher coming in who has so far played a grand total of 20 minutes.

Just on Fletcher, if he’s our primary attacking signing, we are bang in trouble. He’s scored 23 goals in 120 games at Championship level.

I said that we should judge him on what else we sign. If he’s here to act as a foil for other new forwards, no issues.
