New EFL deal on Sky

Recommended Posts

Huge amount of detail in that, but basically huge increase in the number of games shown

Basically will replace ifollow

3pm blackout remains but bound to be more games outside that slot

Promised more time before fixture changes

All League Cup and EFL trophy games available

Streaming a lot of the games rsther than on main channels

Apparently 50% uplift in fees to each Club

So on a regular weekend 10 games will be shown

5 from the Championship

5 from League 1 or League 2

But opening fixtures / closing fixtures entire program will be broadcast

And 10 other weekends I think it says

Plus bank Holidays and all midweek games

Streaming in League 1 will be a 4 camera set up not one

So huge changes afoot from the 2024/25 season. Armchair fans unite and take over.

More games for folks to watch…. Not bad….

Well have to wait another season

If you look at the small print Championship clubs will get a higher % of the total - 80% not 72%.

So Leagues 1 and 2 get less % wise but the uplift in total sums means it is more in absolute terms.

Be interesting how this pans out, presume if the 3pm blackout is kept then the EPL will also keep it. Though I do think that will go PPV where the game sells out in the stadium.

I keep thinking they must have some sort of plan to deal with the IPTV uptake but not sure what they can realistically do.

The only thing they can TRY to do is block them all….. which is impossible!
