  1. Another close one was the legendary 1060 European Cup final when DiStefano and Puskas had hat tricks for Madrid with Erwin Stein getting a brace for Frankfurt.
  2. Can't speak definitively to over there, but here in the States, while the above absolutely applies in determining guilt, priors can certainly have an influence upon sentencing once guilt has been determined. I'd think it the same over there. If not, inclined miscreants could essentially commit certain misdemeanors as often as desired with practical impunity.
  3. It isn't Denmark, though. It's Hummel (at least that's what's I get from that tweet). I wouldn't think that Hummel could 'boycott the tournament' if they've got a contract to supply Denmark's kits. For Denmark to say 'we don't wish to be visible during the tournament' would be absurd.
  4. Well, the good news (for you) is that if you can get past Iran, you're through the group. Because you will beat the US. We are shite.
  5. My uncle does old John Deere tractors. Some of the older ones are really, really cool.
  6. Primarily of the 50s/60s, I'm referring to. When I were a lad (late 70s/early 80s), I was quite into Triumphs, and had loads of mates with MGs, Austin Healeys, etc. They were cheap as chips over here back then. I had a couple of Spitfires ... GT6s ... a TR3 ... a TR6. After 20+ years of Mazda MX5s, I decided to return to the real thing, and have spent the last few years toying with this: ... a '64 Mk1 Spitfire. Very much like the green Mk2 of my youth. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone amongst the OO crowd (being British, and all) was/is into these things at all. I know more of them came over here than stayed home, but surely there are still enthusiasts about over there. It's odd (or maybe not), but as much time as I've spent over there, and chatting amongst those over there, I can't recall ever speaking with any Britons who are into the (then, anyway) cheap British classics. Anyone here have - or had - one?
  7. Saw him at White Hart Lane once. Spurs v Charlton in (I think) 2004.
  8. This pretty much sums it up. Until you consider that it's just a simple money-spinner, in which case you have to say he understands the Premiere League fundamentals rather well.
  9. Pardon the pedantry, but Brian Glover was born in Sheffield. I believe the correct answer is 'Mr. Sugden'.
  10. I saw a match photo with what appeared to be the away end (or side, rather) looking rather full-ish. How many did Wednesday take to this?
  11. 🤔 More 'will they/won't they?' tension in here than in a Jane Austen novel.
  12. Of course not. But admittedly, they are third in the table and no one's calling for the manager's head, so I can see why some folks around here might find them overly-exuberent.
  13. To be fair, H, none of 'em ever lined up against a centerhalf pairing of Michael Morrison and Mark Reynolds whilst at Wednesday.
  14. Hmmm, there it is. I was wondering why the easily offended would want to avoid this ... then I got to that last independent clause.
  15. I've seen my share of English footy as a neutral. Whenever I go to a new ground, I try to arrive a bit early, and usually pop into a pub close to the ground. More often than not, I'll end up having a conversation with one or more home supporters. I've done so at countless clubs about whom I'm essentially indifferent, and more than a few times at clubs for whom I have marked distaste. But even then, I tend to speak with folks, and it goes well enough. The sole exception is the one time that I went to Bramall Lane (v Donny Rovers in League 1) whilst in Sheffield. I popped into (I think) the Cricketers Arms right there at the ground, ordered a pint ... and for some reason - and I remember how odd it seemed - I just wanted out. I didn't speak with anyone - avoided it, actually - necked my beer, and left. I just walked around the neighborhood until kickoff. It'd be silly to put it on them, as no one did anything specifically to put me off. But being in there just felt wrong. I've been plenty of places that should've felt far 'wronger'; but that was the only time that's happened. It was weird.
