    Not going to be easy today but we have to go into the game believing we can get something. We aren’t playing a top side from this division and if we can apply ourselves well, have some self-belief, set ourselves up with the right system, learn how to take an effective set piece, not freeze/panic/take the wrong option in front of goal and also work our socks off, then we’re in with a good shout. Not hoping for or expecting too much, am I?

    Watching Portsmouth v Derby and it just reaffirms how much I don’t want us to go back down to that league. These two are arguably the best two sides in the league and it’s utter dogshit watching them. Currently 2-2. 87 minutes played.

    They just don’t look up for it. Clueless and halfhearted 45 minutes of football. Body language as they walked off at halftime was as though they’d already given up! Where’s the team spirit and self belief gone? This is the first time since our turnaround under Röhl I’ve started to think that we might not get out of this relegation fight. Big 45 minutes coming up for us now!

    Feels like a defeat does that. Two points lost. That goal difference between us and Huddersfield looks depressing as well, especially as we are to blame for it!

    Just about to say the same thing. Think they’ve shaded the balance of play but we’ve had the better chances. Vaulks’ miss was a bad one. Happy to be 1-0 up but we need to up our game a bit in the second half and control the ball a little better.

    …..this happened. I was there that day and it still ranks as one of the best Wednesday goals I’ve ever seen. 3-1 win which guaranteed our survival and as good as relegated Newcastle. This goal put us 3-1 up and despite the Geordies knowing it was a nail in the coffin for them, there was a decent round of applause from them in recognition of the strike. Other thing of note that day was that Dean Barrick made his debut, scoring one and assisting another. 35 years ago though - makes me feel old!
