  1. The latest posts @bazapeps related to a former incumbent of your organisation calling the owner various things, which I don't intend to repeat.

I am fair enough to accept he no longer speaks in any official capacity, but do you endorse that type of language ?

Because that is one of my issues, it's not just the lack of debate but the insulting nature of the language being used by many of fans. Why make it personal, I simply do not get it and worse it actually turns the likes of me that are accepting of some of your criticisms of Chansiri, totally in support of him.

That’s not the same bloke I know! 😉

We had a lad in our 6th form with that hair style. Sadly for him it was the era of the Young Ones so he was called Neil (made a change from Jesus).

Can't say much my attempts to grow a mullet made me a mash up between Blackadder and Anna Ford. So I was called Blackanna.

It was still better than "fat ****"

This was a picture from a Sunday paper of the Ken Knighton winning goal in the 88th minute against Bolton in 1974

I got a proper print of it from the paper - that's me circled just above the keeper's head

From memory we sat in that sort of area but were 2/3rds of the way up. I never really grasped the significance of this match until many years later. I was more in awe of the whole experience

What was the car? Not that I remember anyone driving back from the wrong side of the Pennines like a complete bell.

Crikey I think it was a Nissan - did they do something called the Bluebird.

Anyway it was an upgrade - said mate had previously worked at Fletchers, he had one of the bread vans that used to deliver around the estates. So we used to get lifts in that, free left over buns and a cracking free parking space.

He had gotten a new job - which may have been related to the fact he was delivering slightly more than buns to a bored housewife on some rough estate in Dingle land, which was fine until the aggressive husband found out. A Fletchers van was not a quick getaway choice

  5.  I did go to that game, but don't recall the daffodils for Watson. I do recall my mate had a new company car which he drove like an idiot. We got back to High Green not much later than we would have done from Hillsborough

  6. And yes I probably give Reesh a bit of leverage, do you want to know why ? When I was going thru a shit time, up in Sheffield watching my Mum have multiple seizures, lay unconscious for 10 days withering in front of us, caused by said aggressive tumour, he was messaging me, asking how I was, did I need to escape.

Actions speak louder than words, but perhaps understand that your choice of words should not be used glibbly

Who cares? I’m not now, as you’ve been told. Yet my X is scrutinised and reported on here more than anyone still involved.

“Is Beastie dead yet” By Reesh, yet me using the word tumour causes a frenzy. Wild stuff.

Yes it rattled my cage, because you used the words charlatan, stain and tumour to describe our owner. Chansiri has made mistakes, I have been critical of some of them, but I have never felt the need to make it personal like that. What can I ask does it add, why the insult, why the lack of any respect or understanding to the person funding the club to the tune of 10m per year.

And yes I disliked the word tumour. I just hope you never have to witness a loved one suffer from an aggressive form thereof.

And you defend yourself by shouting "Sir sir look at him sir". Take responsibility for what you say and how you say it is perhaps the moral here.

Day know what. I'm going to have a bit of a rant myself.

This has been a bloody great thread, with loads of reasoned debate and it's transcended into name calling more than owt.

What Geoff/'The Nevs' or whoever post, is on them of course it is. But there's one thing that I will say is that there's a lot of it goes on here too, I do think there's been some double standards in here, in terms of calling others out, name calling and more. It's just disappointing across the board.

I leave things as liberal as I can, and that's been the beauty of this place for so long IMO. While there's been times we disagree, and some will disagree with me now. And that's fine. But I aint going to be calling people out for it, or calling them whatever I can think of that might be an insult because we share a different view or put it in a certain manner.

We're all different folks, with different ways to articulate things. It's just a bit sad when it descends into what this last page or so has, and I don't think it adds anything to what was a very good debate in general.

Tee, I will always respect your opinion and a good chunk of the last page or so was probably instigated by me commenting on something I saw on X.

But it rattled my cage because that is not debate by some Wednesday fans, it is sheer hatred displayed against the owner using terminology that is a little bit close to home for me and many others.

I am more annoyed with myself getting wound up by it, but the solution is easy I just blocked him on there.

    Travel fuckups no. 146b...

I booked my trains for this one a few days prior to the Blackburn match. Having carried out an initial price check, I logged in to discover the Edinburgh to York tickets had halved. Thinking it was some kind of bizarre special offer, I secured the booking super quick before the website had a chance to change its mind.

I nearly always split my journey into 2 parts - Edinburgh to York and York to Sheffield - partly because LNER first class is so much better than the CrossCountry equivalent but also due to the latter obviously thinking I'm planning a trip to the moon when I wish to attend a match at Hillsborough.

I printed the tickets on Friday afternoon (a security blanket incase my Trainline app doesn't work). However, upon checking them early on Saturday morning, I discovered the Edin - York ticket prices had been halved for a reason - they were child tickets! I've absolutely no idea how I managed it. I mean, I haven't been a child for over 30 years ffs. But, here I was, getting ready to set off and finding I didn't have the largest chunk of my journey booked after all.

An enquiry at Waverley confirmed I would need to purchase new tickets (they can't upgrade child ones apparently), so I used the aforementioned, trusty Trainline app. One minute later and we were back in business. First Class, here we come...

All was going well. Arrived in sunny Sheffield on time, met my mates and had a refreshing bottle of Corona in the NBT.

On to the match. Excellent result. Brilliant performance. Decent atmosphere. We're almost there. Hopefully the lads can complete the job on Saturday 🙂

One thing I did find quite amusing in between watching the on-field action - Alex Palmer's aerobics. Didn't do him much good for any of the goals though!

And then it happened - if my early doors discovery had been a bit of a shock, it's safe to say the post match part of the day was a less than welcome surprise...

As my mates dropped me off and we said our goodbyes, I took two steps out of the already-departed car and instinctively checked my pockets. My mobile wasn't on my person any longer. I've never lost my phone before. I'm usually super careful. And no mobile meant no Trainline app so, yet again, I didn't have a ticket for the York to Edinburgh leg home!

That situation was quickly rectified. However, the 'standard class' journey to York included some young whippersnapper who exited at dirty Leeds blatantly looking for a fight. "Fuck this", I thought, "I'll be getting an upgrade for the homeward section."

    End result:

    York to Sheffield return - 1 ticket purchased (all good);

Edinburgh to York - 2 separate tickets purchased; and

York to Edinburgh - 3 separate tickets plus one upgrade purchased.

In total, probably not much change out of £300. Oh, and my phone was in the back seat of my mate's car, so all's well that ends well on that front.

And, of course, we won. Well done Wednesday.

I used to be quite good at all this travel nonsense. I blame this episode on old age.

Never get old, whatever you do.

Made me laugh about the age thing. Years ago I would go on the Saturday and then on the Tuesday, be fine.

Now I need a week off just doing the Saturday

  10. I still prefer the idea of a loss cap, so you can make losses of say 20% of turnover

So if revenue is 200m, your spend cap is 240m. Your loss limit is 40m.

If you only lose 20m one season, you can roll that forward to the next plus the 40m

But any shareholder loans to fund losses have to be converted to equity.

Bit of a coincidence when some posters started siding with Chansiri over the Chav Dad and Lad incident on Stalk the thread got pulled.

Must have been a glitch in the system.

Because Hargreaves was shown up to be a total wanker

I readily expect a few to be banned as a result

  12. I should copy the tweet from Geoff - calling Chansiri "a tumour"

Fuck off Geoff you **** - most of us know people who have died of cancer, we have had a respected poster on here talking about the stress of the last few weeks in his life. That language is disgusting and I will call you out on it

  13. The only half decent thing is that Hargreaves on Stalk got made to look an even bigger fool (I appreciate that was a very high bar anyway).

It's daft when people try and drive a them and us agenda, us fence sitters have tended to move more towards supporting Chansiri, not there way.

I still stand by the one point, if you were trying to force him out what was YOUR plan to replace the funding. The shrug of shoulders and believing AN Other would step up had zero credibility

I'm with you, but I work with loads of Norwich fans and they're desperate to play them at Wembley. They've got some crazy record like it's 15 years since they last lost to them so as far as they're concerned beating them is a formality 🤔

Crikey the inbreeding is really clouding their judgement there. The prospect of even playing the other lot next season leaves me with anxiety ne'r mind such a huge game.
