  1. Thanks for doing it and bringing back memories from that time.

As mentioned over this thread, it was in hindsight peak Wednesday. Perhaps we were seeing how the bigger clubs were starting to pull away, the influence of more foreign players and without deep pockets it was hard to sustain the competitive edge.

That is with a lot of hindsight because the mood would have been slight disappointment at only finishing 7th ! But with good expectations for the following season.

    (I was probably moaning tbh)

Geoff you admittedly instigated the  Nevs, and as recent as this week you've been posting antiDC stuff on twitter but at no time have you ever posted any form of suggestion as to what alternatives there are or apparently any of the other stuff raised here. Baza and Jake at least tried so  kudos to them, and as far as I recall you've known a few posters in here personally IRL for something approaching 15-20 years but you don't feel comfortable doing what Baz and Jake did, or is it that you can't?

More over, from someone who Quote tweets his followers to encourage pile ons*  and screen shots posts from here on Twitter in the same manner, to have gall to say he's getting abused because people are simply laughing at him and his myopic view of the  club, plus his inability to respond to any questions put to him is utterly absurd.

Fundamentally it's hypocrisy in its purest form.

Then ultimately, why bother posting this evening to moan? What did you expect to happen?

Objectively, and this is something I've had to deal with on another matter quite recently with real life lawyers, police and potentially a prosecution, there's nothing posted that would be considered 'abuse' and all you've done today is made yourself look silly. I don't like the word snowflake, as it can have other connotations but it's probably th most appropriate word to use in this case.

*QT-ing means that all your followers see the posts, not just any that also follow the person you're replying to, and is used by bullies (or more accurately cowards) to encourage their followers to join in and pile into the argument.

The moral of that is treat people how you would like to be treated. If you moan about getting online abuse, then don't use abusive terms online about others. It's not a one way option.

The solution I have found is manage your social media input. I am little more than a reader on X, I haven't joined SWFC groups on Facebook. Being banned from Stalk was actually a blessing - don't spend 2 hours arguing with idiots.

There's already movement to fill the head of recruitment role vacated by David Downes last July, but it's dependent on a work permit.

Dooley's COO position looks likely to be filled as well.

You won't hear much about the new training ground as it's all going through the uni for grant purposes.

That all does seem a positive step.

  4. Fair to say when you play from the back and it works its a joy. In a parallel universe the right to left switch goes straight to their player who unopposed scores, we spend many hours cursing Pep

We started getting the balance right. In the end yesterday was solely about the result, the performance was adequate, but the flaws were there in some of our passing, defending from set plays. Their offside goal may have been tight with VAR.

But it was a cracking goal, the 2nd wasn't bad either.

As soon as the fan base realise we're not a Premier League Club and won't be again, then well have a better chance of progression.

We may in the future spend a season or two in th PL but we're so very very far behind the curve now we'll never be a PL club again.

Unless of course we get a Red Bull / Mad Billionaire scenario but even then the way funding is controlled and penalised by EFL/EPL for 'new money clubs' even these examples may not be enough.

I don't think many of us have unrealistic expectations in that regard.

But equally don't think we should be languishing where we are, relieved at avoiding tier 3 again.

I would hope our natural position for now is more nudging around top mid half, having a shout at the play offs.

This division is tough as hell, next year possibly stronger still. And you can't achieve that aim on a wing and a prayer.

Having taken a sabbatical from going to home games, it was great to see v WBA a full stadium, some good football and a connection between fans, the players and the coach. There was a buzz, let that be built on is all most of us ask

But your implication is that these things aren't already happening, despite Röhl being first manager since Bruce (?) to have a multi-season contract and in some respects parroting the Nevs previous comments about not supporting Röhl in the transfer window - or at least not signing who he wants.

I didn't say that though, I said a valid criticism was a lack of planning (in the past). There are signs that Chansiri is understanding there is a better way to run a football club.

I think all I want is continuing evidence this summer of that happening, no dramas, we simply talk about how shit / great the signings are based on no evidence

The fans need to be realistic too. His ability to fund is finite though the extra TV money will help. Hopefully there will be a surge in ST sales with the new wave of optimism too.

Ideally in the coming days, rather than weeks, we'll  be hearing positive soundbites from DR about his future and confirmation that a deliverable plan going forward has been broadly agreed.

I don't disagree, I would actually suggest the Club would be even better served by investing 500k in decent non football side personnel as much as anything.

Because these are the building blocks needed to stop the club lurching around like a trawler in a storm.

24 years and counting with barely a sniff of the Premier League. Not on Chansiri by a long way but something has to change

Managing to beat the Nevs with his chips pissing....

Because its erm true. Or would you rather have the nonsense of last summer and coming in under prepared.

The criticisms of Chansiri by the 1867 Group are largely unfair, deluded. But suggesting Chansiri can't learn from his past mistakes is just as deluded

What this Club needs to progress is a summer where the owner backs and supports the incumbent head coach, not much to ask is it

They’ll be moaning in two or three weeks time that we haven’t signed anyone. Heaven forbid any positivity should be allowed to build.

Thing is most of us grasp how football works and that the transfer window closing presumably at the end of August is the only time you can assess.

I mean the January window was pivotal in our survival even if it was dismissed by many.

  10. The one valid criticism of Chansiri is the lack of planning. I mean he has a point in that football has far too many variables to plan with any guarantees, but if you have the solid base then you are better placed to absorb the shocks.

He really must look around the football league and see relative success at Clubs that have the organisation in place. Perhaps also witness that the Clubs that are basket cases ie Huddersfield and Brum went down.

Chansiri used a get out of jail card. The question of how we proceed is now firmly in his court. He may not be able to promise £Ms for transfers, but what he can do is appreciate Rohl is a rising star, he knows what is needed behind the scenes and the one request is he listens and supports this guy.

Fail to plan, plan to fail.

It's in his court to ensure we have a solid close season, no melodramas.

There's no way we can build the team around him starting.

I'm surprised he's already been told he's getting a contract.

I don't think the team will be built around him, even Bannan would accept that can't arise as he gets older. But as an option and a player that can unlock defences he could be utilised well

We certainly need more strength in that area of the pitch.

Who would take mid table obscurity just for one season to get a breather from all this drama. 🤣

    Not me, we're going up.

I mean I am not going to comment on next season until at least tomorrow😃 but a certain team based in Suffolk have shown its feasible

I think all I ask for is no major melodrama for the next 3 months and we properly plan for the 2024/25 season.
