Tylluan Posted July 21, 2022 Share Posted July 21, 2022 The rule change is to stave off a genuine concern that lower end Premier League and top end Championship clubs were contemplating leaving the PDL (step down from PL2) and follow the B team set up; and that a potential rival league to PL2 could be set up. There's nothing stopping clubs declassifying their academy's to D status (effectively winding them up) and creating a B team. WIth the potential to play up to 6 overage players the EPPP has more or less created it's own B team structure but under it's control.
